Wow, these vintage Rolex pics have got me all stirred up! My first daily beater was the ol' 1675... I swore to myself that I'd get a Red Sub but I've watched the prices of these babies jump like crazy. Apparently, these misspelled Pateted bracelets originated from Mexico but did not have Rolex S.A. Mexico stamped in them like all the other Mexican Rolex bracelets. Period correct indeed! PS. Freddy333, those Triumphs are a lotta fun! The later 60s V12 Jag motors break my heart: so nice but so easy to let you down

The T39 has a wider base lip and the dome is shaped slightly differently than the T19. They are not the same. Here's my genuine 5513 with T19 Superdome:

Anytime you open up a watch, you compromise waterproofing (gasket wears, etc). He prob. thought it was real. Or rather, he did not have an Oyster opener (mall watch repair places never work on Rolex, so they'll never have the opener with proper dies).

Nice watch! BTW, you can remove the side engraving with a green scrubby sponge (the kind you use to wash the dishes with). It comes off very easily. Cheers

It is a very nice watch, in fact it's one of my favorites. But there is one seriously big problem: the silly silly TopGun logo. Yeah I know that this is how the real thing is, but this is really corny. Just my opinion (which doesn't matter at all). I'd buy the watch because I love it, but that logo keeps me from doing so.

I believe he meant 'crown' not 'crown guard'. I have an EL 183, too. I think the best thing to do would be to fix the canon pinion. Then you'll have an overall very nice 183. And you'll also have a historical 183 rep as EL was the first to offer it! Cheers

Try Lacquer Thinner & #0000 Steel Wool. Takes 2 minutes to strip the AR.

The week starts off for me like this... Fully modded Pre-A 002

I finally got around to taking pics today of this beauty despite having her for a few weeks. Here's some info about the watch: Dial is a lovely FGD Pre-A 002 Dial has been re-lumed by The Zigmeister in a cream aged-Tritium color; lume does not glow & is filled in the same manner as Pre-A OEM. Hands are from DSN; color is slightly different than dial lume Case is superb! Crown is excellent I replaced the CG with a 'perfect' one that I had been saving for a couple of years, it's from the old days ;-) Crystal has AR coating removed (was easy to remove with lacquer thinner, gloves, respirator mask and steelwool) Movement is Swiss ETA (did a mov't swap since the Asia mov't died) H3 Cannon Pinion & hour wheel Strap is made from a WWII Italian Ammo Pouch Buckle is a Pre-V Cheers PS. Dial and hands look like OEM tritium replacements. There were some still available at the Rolex Service Center in Dallas a few years ago; NYC and BH supposedly have no more available. The case has been polished many many times it appears. That's ok I guess for an older watch, but lots of polishing suggests that this might be a put-together? Find out the date code serial. Also find out the date code on the caseback. They should be close in age relative to one another (a couple of years difference is ok). Bracelet doesn't look original to the watch at all. The case being polished many times and a solid Jubilee? All in all, the replacement dial & hands kill the value of the watch for me--despite the fact that they are tritium. It needs a little patina to make it special. The bracelet not being original to the watch further devalues it. Looks like you can get a good deal if you mention these little facts to the seller. 1675 is a great watch. After owning one for 20 or so years, it is still one of my favorite watches. Cheers

Of course I agree with Nanuq! But you knew that already! You can find a set of hands that will match, just takes time. Zig can relume everything but don't relume with glowing SL. JMHO. Cheers

I'll also welcome you to the OEM 1675 club What year? I'm approx. '65, '66 or '67 (depending on where you reference serials).
