  1. Bought it from "risti from a guy financing his 312. My first was Abay 111G. Loved it. Second was a trip to Thailand, sweet 111H, third was from River, which I planned on modding but am too lazy. Now that I have this and a sweet gen collection, I'm thinking of getting some reps again. I can't afford the next level of gens.
  2. Just got this today. Excuse the q&d iphone pic. A little 40th birthday/ 10 year anniversary present from my wife. I of course sourced and paid for it. Her contribution was giving me permission to do it. A 111 has always been my grail watch. I've had 3 reps of it but last year I sold all my reps to start collecting gens. TBH, once this went on my wrist, the difference between rep and gen is negligible. I like that I now have one but is it worth 10 times the price even second hand? Definitely not. Little fit and finish things are noticeable probably only to us, but even a slightly modded rep will look pretty damn good next to this. Regardless, I'm thrilled. Reps were my gateway to gens, so these companies shouldn't worry so much about our little hobby.
  3. I check the guys wrist in line behind me at H&M the other day and see he's wearing a Daytona. I lean over and say, "Nice Daytona." He responds snootily with the thread title. He's with a woman and he's trying to impress her I guess. I say, "Yes I know. This model is a Daytona. You have great taste, it's a hard to get, very nice watch." Now he's beaming a bit and says, "Thanks. It was a gift." I don't know the tells with Rolex but my guess is rep in this situation.
  4. I just bought the limited Debaufre 48mm from TZ (089/200). Fantastic watch, totally sterile dial, nice straps, nice box. You can find them second hand all the time on TZ. For a new one, Debaufre apparently is creating a bunch of 000/200 watches for "friends." Kind of shady but they offered me one. http://store.debaufre.com/Nav-B-Limited-Ed...-dw.03.08le.htm
  5. I have one on my wrist as we speak. They wear quite small, like a 42mm because the base is wider than the bezel. It feels great but light because of the Ti. The sweep is on the small dial so it looks very smooth. I have a complete set in around 85% condition. I have been debating selling it as I've bought too many watches lately. PM me if you'd like to buy it at a good price.
  6. This is pretty much it. I have had numerous people commit, say, "consider it sold" etc and never hear from them again. These are long-time, respected members. I had one guy say, I'll take it" so I send him PP info and 6 hours later he responds with "Just a few questions first." After a while, you sell to the first person who truly commits. You give them a deadline to pay and then you move on.
  7. Wow, that makes me want to sell my gen. I can't really see any obvious tell. MAYBE the numerals flow into the dial a bit more than mine but it's probably the lighting. Very nice watch!
  8. I'm about to sell the rest of my reps. I sold 7 a couple of months ago and am selling 5 more this week. I'm just deciding what single rep to keep. I am now collecting gens, but may get a rep or two in the future. I have bought all of them second hand and have a nice collection of interesting and inexpensive pieces. My gen collection (not including Seiko divers) Schaumberg Nauticfish Oris Regulateur Sinn U1 Omega SMP UBoat Flightdeck Breitling Skyland
  9. It's been a couple of weeks since this came out and no mention of it. Maybe because the cartel doesn't have it yet, or people find it too ugly to consider? I kind of love it. Is it lacking in any way? I can't tell if there is AR but beyond that it looks pretty damn good to me. I guess I'm waiting for someone to pull the trigger and give a review. http://www.pam111.com/product_info.php?man...roducts_id=2252
  10. I bought a gen Flightdeck from TZ a few weeks back, tired of waiting on the rep. I like it but would never pay retail for one. The size makes it impossible to keep it ding-free, and that sucks for a PVD watch. Also, AR would be nice on the rep. I'm thinking of having mine done.
  11. How about a poll? Since many of us pay to be supporters and there is no cost to adding the section, let's truly find out.
  12. I would love a gen section here. I don't really mod and I sold off half of my reps and own a bunch of cool, cheap gens. This is my watch group and board, not anywhere else. This is where I get info and spend my time. I would prefer not to have to change boards as my interest shifts. I want to keep one foot in each world and would prefer to do it under one roof. There is no harm in testing the waters. Put it in and see what happens.
  13. My first thought was Oris before opening the thread. I still think it's the best value and bang for buck on quality and finish. I have Sinn, Oris, a SMP and a Uboat. For what you describe, Oris or Hamilton are your best bets, though you should check the sales corner on Time Zone for some other ideas.
  14. Does anyone know why I'm having trouble fitting a bracelt on to my SF? Both sides just won't click in. Same bars as before, so could the lug holes have changed? I got the watch on strap from Joshua in November and he just sent me a bracelet last week. Thanks.

  16. I lost my 3 yesterday. I'm so bummed. Markers I can live with, numbers are too much. Oh, and nice avatar.
  17. Great price on a great watch. I love mine. Someone also once posted a site you could buy rep rubber straps that smelled like the Oris so you can preserve the one you have.
  18. It looks nearly identical to the Schaumburg Nauticfish. I have one and I love it, especially the 70s style bracelet.
  19. Wow, it looks like the next Vancouver GTG will have a few more attendees than last time. Nice to see so many of us.
  20. I see you like a little light reading as well. Good choice, The Fountainhead is one of my favs and Atlas Shrugged is not far behind. Oh yeah, the strap is great as well, I want a Chopard now.
  21. I was in Newport Beach last fall and was dying to go into a great watch store but could only stare through the glass because of my rep Bentley. The next morning I went back wearing my gen SMP. To be blunt, going into an AD wearing a rep is stupid and an insult to every person working and shopping there. You come here to smugly brag about this but they all thought you were a huge loser after you left.
  22. Also, as far as I know, all automatics have a flush pin, it's only the hand winds that have it recessed.
