928 are my favs for sure. I've had a few of the S4 models, two if the GT models and one GTS. I currently have a Nissan GTR, but the 928s still have my heart!

I've done 4 of the ladies Tudors and all have the 2671 already in them from the factory. I send the original Tudor dial off to be refinished with the Rolex name and pick my color. A orig Rolex dial will not fit as the case is slightly smaller. Most of them even have Rolex marked bracelets already on them and Rolex crowns. Many sellers would do this on Ebay back a few years ago and try to sell them as gen Rolex. Getting the 2671 to work in a gen Rolex 69173 or similar series case is a pain and then you have to mess with date wheel alignment etc.

A better way is get a ladies tudor and put a refinished tudor dial branded as Rolex.

So Clark Tudor hands will not work without being moded?

My gen 16550 is in need of bracelet. I am keeping the gen bracelet, but want one that I can wear and not have to worry about desk diving scratches, etc. It currently has a 78360 w/ 501 endlinks. The gens are going for some good change now, so I though about maybe just a good rep one. Anyone know of any good ones?

Looks like an Ebay special...aftermarket dial, bracelet, and custom bezel. Look on the back case to make sure it has the Rolex case writing like ladies models do for this model. I would pop case back off for sure on this one. The case and movement are probably the only gen parts.

Thanks buddy....it has the 78360 on it. I saw that on Ebay, but it was not a real good example. This is a very nice watch and seems to be a rather rare with that dial.

It is a gorgeous watch! The dial is such a unique color. I know that they were originally white, but have changed color due to a problem with the paint Rolex used on these early models. Most were replaced by the RSC with new white dials, so the remaining cream dials fetch what I have been told a premium.

I have an opportunity to purchase an all original Rolex Explorer II 16550 watch with the rare cream dial. It looks like the watch dates to 1986 when he purchased it. It is a friend of my wife that is selling it. He bought it brand new in 1986 and has all papers and box. The watch has never been serviced. That band shows some wear and has a dent in the clasp part, but the case is in excellent condition and the cream dial is mint. What do you guys think is a fair price for the watch? I want it, but I don't want to overpay for it either. I see the prices are all over the place. I thought this forum would be a better place to ask then the gen forums because they always tend to think their items are worth more than they really are! lol Thanks in advance to all who reply!

A family friend is selling his gen white dial 16570. He purchased it brand new and has been a daily watch for him since the 1990's. It is normal wear, but I think a good service and refinish will do the trick. What kind of money do you think is a decent price for the watch? I don't want to overpay because he is a family friend, but would purchase it at the right price. Sorry I don't have any pics. What would be a great price on it?

Does anyone currently sell the movement rings to fit an ETA into a 16000 date just case? I have a few cases waiting to be brought back to life!

There was a local rep watch dealer back in the late 80's selling those here in Houston. He got them in Thailand if I remember correctly. I still have one of them somewhere, but not sure where it is at the moment. The one I have is the same dial as yours. He (his name was "Chuck") would travel to car dealerships and flea markets here in Texas selling them. He had two versions of them...one with the ETA movement and another with some kind of asian movement. The asian movement one was about $100 and the swiss one was around $150 even back then. He also had a few presidential models mostly with "diamonds" on them. They were the best I had ever seen at that time.
