  1. I purchased the same bracelet about a year and a half ago from a friend in Singapore. It is scary close to the gen, with the exception of the spring bar issue. I am fine with the 1.5 spring bars and have used it for a year now with no loss in spring action!
  2. Do you have any pics of the movement without the second plate on? I was courious what it looked like on the movement side. So did you actually drill into the movement or? Thanks in advance for the info!
  3. Yes, I would be interested as I am sure other members and RWG would be too!
  4. Great job! I was going to work on doing this, but I just don't have the tools to do it correctly. I would love it if you were to offer a few to us for sale. My RBII would love you! lol Indy
  5. Very fine grit sand paper will take the edge off of the reps teeth...
  6. I think the vintage models are what should be looked at. These are the models that most collectors are looking for and are hard to find. Modern models have a following, but most are very close and not worth the time and effort to reproduce again. What I would like to see along with these cases...a rep movement of the 1570 or 3135. Most of the parts are available as aftermarket parts, but the bridges/base movement are the problem. If these could also be reproduced in the $200-$300 range it would be a great investment. It would be nice for the forum to take on this as an escrow kind of deal and a fundraiser. A win-win for everyone!
  7. Nice one! What did the dial and hands cost you? That is a great combo!
  8. Nice one at a great price! I hope she enjoys it!
  9. They sell that exact clock on the bay for $600!
  10. It may be a rep, but the workmanship is great. It would be very hard to mount all those diamonds...and just the time involved to do it! The diamonds are not all that expensive in those sizes, so if it is a rep I bet he prob only has $1200+/- in it. That rubber band has to go though...don't look right with all that BLING!
  11. I thought that Rolex would take the old case as a condition of replacing the case? Why would you want to replace a 1680 red case anyway? Does this make sense to anyone? http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Vintage-1680-RED-Submariner-middle-case_W0QQitemZ280387353795QQihZ018QQcategoryZ117039QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26ps%3D6
  12. Maybe $125? I have a few of these myself. I just buy them when I can for projects. I think the last one I paid $110 for it.
  13. Yes, since the close uses the same size hands...
  14. Looks like the perfect parts for a franken project! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140338280303&_trkparms
  15. Just think of this watch as a cheap hooker...yeah, you can get it to do the same things as the more expensive one but it might not work out as good in the long haul. The rivited bands on these are junk (made out of some pot metal and rivit screws than you can never get to go back in correctly). You would be much better off with the correct jubilee band for this model which is also available.
  16. What was the cost of the mod Yuki did on the 1570 movement to make it a 1575? Looks great! The 1655 is my fav of the vintage Rolex watches!
  17. I agree...at least the markers are closer to the gen position. Looks like a color blind person was responsible for picking the colors to use on this one! lol
  18. I would have to say the stainless bezel. To me the plastic bezels always look a little "cheap" to me, but only a personal opinion. Both are very nice looking!
  19. I love it! Nothing like building your own 1680! Wear it well and with pride!
  20. Nice! I think the blue color looks very close to gen!
  21. Check this out... http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-SUBMARINER-STORY...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Anyone know a cheaper way of getting this book? Looks great!
