I bought this dial from my watchmaker saying it was gen. What do you guys think? Which model is it?

Agree 100% FOR THE PERFECT FRANKEN!

Thoughts on EuroTimez's Vintage Daytona 6263 White Dial?

NIce looking watch! The rep revited bands are crap! The little screws are a pain in the butt to take out and adjust the band. They are also nothing like the gen rivited bands. I have had 5 of them and all of them were like this. I think a Coke can has more steel in it than these rep bands! There are some nice 19mm solid oyster bands that look great on the watch and will serve you better. I hope this help! -
Could you tell us the specs on these? What movements are you using? Thanks!

The black bezel is the correct bezel for the 7031/0. The correct bezel for the 7032/0 is the stainless steel one. I love mine, but the space between the lume "home plate" markers and the ring is wrong for this watch. I wish we could source the correct dials for these! Maybe The Zigmeister could remove the current lume and add it in the correct location???? These are perfect clones except for the dial error if you have the 7734!

The dial is just an aftermarket dial with poor printing on it. Many of the aftermarket serti dials have the wrong font on them and have bad printing. I saw one of these on the bay back a week ago sell for $60.

The reason for the expense with these case is that they accept gen parts and we place a gen movement in them. Most of the time you can also engrave unique serial numbers and the model numbers on the cases as well. These are NOT the cases that accept eta movements. These cases are what you build Franken watches with and in some cases can not be told from a gen.
-
I agree!
-
Are these the same cases that Phong sells?
-
I agree! lol ...but remember the Polex watches? Maybe he was the original engraver? lol I wonder what engraving machine that is used to do this????
-
Looks like this guy will engrave our cases if needed! http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-Engraving-servi...7QQcmdZViewItem

Check this out...why is 7750 engraved above the 727 engraving on the movement? Kinda weird! http://cgi.ebay.com/Valjoux-727-for-parts-...%3A2%7C294%3A50

Why are you wanting to use an incorrect movement for your project? Why don't you get a gen Tudor ETA? I might have a few available... Just a thought...

Fitment ring on the 1570 Date Just is different than the 1655, but you can make it work (i.e. the movements are the same). For a replacement movement in the Date Just I would use the 2892-A2 ETA with one of Stilty movement rings in the case for proper fit.

I love mine! They are very rare even in the rep world! Does yours have the Val 7734 or the Poljot movement? They look almost the same as the Poljot movement is just a copy of the 7734. What model bracelet and endlinks do you have on yours?
-
I live in The Woodlands, but my watchmaker is on Richmond in the Jewelry building. Let me know if you score a decent one on our side of town!

These are getting harder to find everyday! I just love mine! I have seen a few with the incorrect Poljot movement in them as well. I just wish somebody could do a refinished dial where the baseball diamonds are in the correct position. To me that is the only giveaway on these watches from gen. The 7836 bands are hard to find. I wish they made a good rep of them with the folded links and the 589/593 endlinks! Enjoy!

I believe it is real. I believe the engravings are re-painted after a service so they appear brighter than an aged movement. Usually when they are put in the ultrasonic cleaner, the paint comes off. My watchmaker repaints the bridge for every service I have done on my gens. He also refinishes my daytona bezel the same way, but with a different color paint. If they come out with a clone, odds are we will never know the difference. I believe that many movements are being put together from parts, but I don't think there is an entire clone movement on the market yet. http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-ROLEX-1570-MOV...1QQcmdZViewItem

The mother of pearl are always a favorite of mine. Since each mop dial is unique, it is hard to teel gen vs rep. I have an old MBW date just from about 8 years ago when they used read gold mid links. It has the ETA in it and still runs like a champ.

I think this is an example of the bad economy. People are cutting back on their "projects"!

Look what the Postman showed up with today...

The base one from phong is $2600. If you add original parts to it is can easly add up to $3800 or so. I got mine preowned so I was able to get it cheaper than having to source everything myself. Many of these high end reps have the poljot movement in them which is a copy of the 7734 valjoux movement. There are a few visible difference between the movements so having a gen movement helps makes it stealth from being a rep! -

Both of these movements are accurate for a Tudor Monte Carlo. The one on the left (yours) Valjoux 7734 is for the 7031 and 7032 models which were made in the early 1970's. The one on the right is the Valjoux 234 which is correct for the later model Monte Carlo's which have a different looking dial than ours. The Valjoux 7734 Tudor model looks just like you have in your pic. The bridge is a little different, but that could vary just like dials and bands do. Here is a pic of my movement.... -

It has the original Tudor version of the Valjoux 7734 movement for the 7731/0(black bezel) and 7732/0(stainless bezel). This one is 1971 vintage. The later models had the Valjoux 234. Alligoat, you always steal the show in my book! I am too a Rolex man and love the vintage ones with gen movements. You have a wonderful collection of subs! My girlfriend and son also loved them! It has a phong case with gen movement, crystal, crown, pushers and a refinished gen dial blank. With a little work on the dial I am sure the entire watch could pass as gen. Yes, they are expensive "reps", but the gens in this shape are selling for $29K on ebay. These are considered the new poormans Paul Newman 6263 replacements! lol -
I am not a good photo taker, but I wanted to share my new watch that I am very proud of! Here is a pic... So what do you think????
