  1. To me, and this is just my humble opinion, all Graham watches are the horological equivalent of driving an 80's Porsche 911 with a massive rear spoiler. It automatically implies you have a micropenis. People would just stare at you in public if you wore this on your wrist - and not in a good way. They look like they've been designed (if that is the correct word) by children. This isn't as bad as the Chronofighter which looks like a hand grenade, but I really do hate them more than any other watch i've ever seen.... But, I have to say at least it's making me have an opinion. A lot of watches these days just look like devices for telling the time. I hate it, but at least it makes me feel something. Please please can someone buy one and take a few wrist shots - that would cheer me up no end. PS - this all of course means that in about a year, I'll love them. There was a time when I thought Panerai's looked awful...
  2. Cats....I am I'm afraid. I've got no problems with the mechanical mechanisms, it's these bloody automatics
  3. My 212 stopped recently and I took it to my watchsmith who got it going in seconds. He also put a new crystal in it, but didn't check for dust. On my way home I noticed the dust on the inside of the crystal and it really annoyed me...so what did I do. Rather than leave it alone, I opened the back and carefully tried to remove the asian 7750 mechanism. A slight jar when getting it out of the case and it stopped. Now it won't start. So now it's going to cost me
  4. This should be easy for someone in the know. i have a 6497 with the standard rep canon pin and hour wheel. I tried to put some 6497 hands on it last night, which I think were from Davidsen and they don't fit. It looks like this is because on the hands I have, there is little to no inner tube. Do I need the canon pin fix to use these hands? I am guessing that these ones are for already modified watches. It seems to be because the hour wheel doesn't come far out enough above the dial for the hand to sit happily What do you think - the inner tubes is almost flush to the second hand - maybe 1-2mm on the hour hands
  5. I recently took my 212 to my local watchsmith as the bloody thing had stopped for no reason..and being a 7750 I feared the worst. However he managed to get it going in seconds. However he had to remove the crown guard and I said I'd screw it back on at home. I get home and the screws seem to have threaded so I can't screws the guard back in. It looks like I need screws about another couple of mm longer to make it stick. Has anyone else had this issue with their PAMs? At this rate I'm going to have to superglue the bugger. Does anyone know where I can find screws this size or similar? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tom.
  6. I've got a gold plated watch that I want to polish up, as its looking a bit tired and has a few surface scratches. I have a Cape Cod cloth, but it urges you not to use it on Gold plated items. I assume becuase it will rub it off? Is there anything anyone can recommend out there that I can use which is good for polishing gold plated reps?
  7. Well, I finally got some help from people over at RWG and Repgeek about this. Despite being a whole 15 minutes slow over 24 hours, It was a just a simple matter of adjusting the regulator. I'm disappointed that nobody responded to what, for those in the know is a pretty simple question. I usually come to RWG first but recently many questions which I know are easy to answer (It't just that I can't) have been ignored, but answered within an hour on the other forums. I hope this is not a growing trend, as this is where I feel at home.
  8. I've got word back from Tritec that it's actually a special dark lume that they make. Lets hope some of the people who do are luming jobs order some so we can get some great looking Phantoms going!!
  9. http://www.horomundi.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4220 Not feeling them at all I think they should have gone for broke and tried some new colours. A little bored of the orange and blue, and the new yellow and red BR01's don't appeal either. I do though LOVE the new BR02 Chrono...watch this space for the rep. http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=128903
  10. Seeing as I can NEVER load any images onto RWG as they are always too large (even a 20kb one!!!), here is the link to an image of what the Phantom actually glows like - not as they show on the websites but more like C3 http://www.matsukidesignsolutions.com/phantom1.jpg
  11. I've been thinking about this for a while and even emailed B&R who were no help (They said it's a unique photoluminescant paint...yeah right) How do they do it? I have spoken to well known luming experts who have all said they're not sure how it can be done. They all use Tritec products and cannot see how something can be mixed to produce something that dark which lights up. I have held a gen Phanton BR01-92 and put it under a halogen lamp for a minute then turned the lights out. It doesn't get close to what they claim but it still glows in the dark. The nearest I have got is a kind of light grey which I made from Noctilumina products. It lights up all right but it's still nowhere near that dark colour. Anyone know or guess how they do it?
  12. I've now been looking for this mechanism for 9 months or so and no luck. I now think it must have been made specifically for these B&R watches as the other more standard Asian 21J's wouldn't fit in the smaller case. Although they call it the Asian 2892 the only thing it has in common is the depth - it shares no other commonalities like the Seagull ST18. I just don't think it's going to happen now, if my dealer can't get one ive got no hope. I suppose it should be a warning to anyone wanting a 46mm B&R - you won't be able to replace the mechanism when it breaks down.
  13. It obviously needs a good service but I'm curious to know what the issue is to decide whether or not to attempt the work myself (or should that be dismantle everything, frustrate myself, throw things and shout a lot, give up and then give it to a professsional to put back together) The watch is running 2-3 minutes slow over 12 hours and 4-5 minutes slow over 24 hours, but doesn't lose anymore time than that until it winds down. What's usually the problem area in this case? Thanks for your help.
  14. Why does The Zigmeister not want to do them?
  15. I agree with Zenpang - go with the SS Tuiga. No issues on the back as it is solid.
  16. Your best bet would be the flyback chrono which a lot of our dealers stock. It comes with the asian Seagull "Lemania" movement. I think that they may now even do some other Lange's with this movement too. All the other Lange reps are of the cheap and chearful variety. I have a couple myself and they are good for dress watches, but for obvious reasons don't expect them to be accurate (although the dials are pretty good)
  17. If only that were so - I spent $25 on one from Cousins and it doesn't fit. It is 1mm too thick so that when the case is screwed down the rotor won't spin. You are correct in that it is visually identical to the 4813 but the original mechanism is 3.6mm thick and the 4813 is 4.6mm. Thanks for the solid back of the B&R case there is no room for error - even 1mm.
  18. After 6 months or more I STILL have not found a replacement to put into my BR01-92. They are all too thick, except for the Seagull ST18 which cannot be used as the stem release pin is in the wrong place for the B&R case. It seems that nobody can help, not the dealer I bought it from anyone... Just goes to show you should double check how easy a replaceement mechanism is to get hold of in case this happens. Meantime, if anyone know where I can get a 3.6mm thick chinese mechanism exactly the same style as the 4813 I would be grateful...the search goes on..
  19. I am sure people can flesh out the detail, but I seem to remember that The Zigmeister's main issue apart from sheer man hours involved was that you needed 2-3 donor asian 7750's to complete the job.
  20. Yes me to!! I'd been searching for months before I gave up and decided there wasn't a rep version, but of course I could be wrong and somethings come out in the meantime. The genuine box is much better made and grander than, say the Rolex or Panerai boxes - it would still cost a lot to rep the gen and the leather would cost - but please do post pictures if you recieve it.
  21. I think you always get what you pay for with reps and by the looks of things these offer excellent value for money, but we should accept that these are the new equivalent of the 39mm B&R fantasy watches that appeared a couple of years ago just after the BR01-92 came out - these were good watches and I have one myself, but they weren't accurate. History suggests that if these sell pretty well then very soon we'll see a BR02 for around $240 which is much nearer the gen. And lets face it, if you like the watch you not going to need two - I'm waiting for the better rep to come out and I don't think it will be too long. Still - can't go wrong for $100!!
  22. Hi there, There isn't i'm afraid. You occasionally see a genuine box on sale for Ebay, but they go for about
  23. My beloved SS HBB which has been my faithful daily beater for most of the year was accidentally knocked against a concrete edge this morning completely smashing the crystal into tiny pieces. Fortunately the bezel is undamaged but I would love to find a replacement crystal for it. Does anyone know the size I would need so I can order one from Cousins/Ofrei? I know a lot of you guys have removed the HBB crystals recently to give them the AR treatment so I was hoping someone might know. Thanks in advance. Tom
  24. I shall go ahead and get one and report back as soon as I know.
