Difficulty getting WSO 580 ends to fit
Mendota Explorer replied to Mendota Explorer's topic in The Rolex Area
I've read comments from members on the other forums over the last week who have all said they are having the same issues with the latest WSO 580 endlinks being garbage. I wonder if he got a bad batch in? I'm kind of glad that I am not the only one experiencing this right now, but it ticks me off that all of these other people got bad sets, too. It makes me think that a replacement set is going to be the same way.- 40 replies

Difficulty getting WSO 580 ends to fit
Mendota Explorer replied to Mendota Explorer's topic in The Rolex Area
For what it is worth, my update is the little metal loops inside the endlinks have snapped and broken off. These WSO ones must be either junk or I got a bad QC set. Are those little loops inside even needed?- 40 replies

my new rolex 1680 vintage red submariner no cyclope project
Mendota Explorer replied to chronobam's topic in The Rolex Area
That is so crazy. The progress pics that he sent to you clearly show the pearl and the crown. LOL What an odd duck. And to put modern, maxi sub hands on a vintage piece is a weird combo. Looks totally wrong. He should know better. -

If I'm understanding correctly is he saying that you never sent him the pearl and the crown? Didn't you post some pictures for us that show the crown and the pearl? How can he say he never had them if the pics show them? -
Wow! How long have you owned that one?

Look at that dial! Which build is this one? Is that a 5508? I love the white 6 o'clock radium marker. Amazing vintage pieces today!

That 6542 is unreal. With all of you experts together in this one thread, I want to ask you guys something. What is the general opinion in the vintage world about redials? I mean, these dials are on original, gen plates. They are refinished using the same techniques employed by the original artisans who produced the dials originally. So for all intents and purposes it is a refinished gen dial, right? What do vintage collectors think about these types of things? I know provenance is of the upmost importance in every case, and obviously if the watch were to be sold the specifics of the dial would be disclosed, but for personal enjoyment does it really matter? I'm just curious to know what a vintage collector outside of this board would think of a genken build such as this. Guys are building gen parts frankens over on TRF and VRF, too, and people are always replacing worn out parts on vintage pieces every day, so it isn't like this fell out of the sky from Mars. Would this command the same level of respect and admiration that we give it? I think yes in every case. Am I off base?

But you need an iphone to synch it with, right? What about those of us who are lowly Android users? We get the Members Only jackets of the fashion world. I think I'll stick with my Samsung and Rolex for telling time and clickety clacking with apps. -
No kidding. They would literally need to wear Depends. This is a gorgeous build. Enjoy it!

Yes, someone is paying the domain name registration fees to keep it active and someone is doing the annual ICANN renewals, too. If it isn't him, then someone he knows, but like I said, someone over on one of the other boards was recently in communication with him.

No sir. You have it backwards. Buying one of these or even going out and buying a new 911 is far cheaper than a divorce under the best and most amicable of circumstances. Your attorney's fees alone will dwarf the measly cost of one of these. So go out and buy it. You can tell your wife that you are saving her a ton of money! [emoji12] [emoji106]

Speaking of The Yardbirds, I just started reading Jimmy Page's new photo autobiography. The book is practically 5 inches thick and it is the length and width of a coffee table book, but it is like a scrapbook covering his entire life. It has scans of playbills from all of his shows, session notes from when he was the most amazing session guitarist in England, passport photos and visas, tour schedules, reviews and articles, countless other stuff, and nonstop pictures to accompany all of this. Candid shots, behind the scenes shots, personal camera shots, you name it. It is so cool. I checked it out from the local library and I already know I'm going to have to renew it!

I honestly don't have the time right now, but because I was participating in the thread I could search my own name and find the post. The only problem is I don't remember if it was on RG, RWI or here. [emoji53] If I get a chance I'll do it. It was buried within a completely different thread. Or if you guys have the time, go to those 3 forums and search the Rolex area for any posts mentioning Ingod. Not threads devoted to him. If I recall correctly, he said yes he emailed back and forth with him about an item.

There are some great reviews over on RWI of rep MB pens from Ali Express. Some are falling apart or not up to par, but most are great and we are talking about $8 to $20. The fountain pens are nice, too. They take gen cartridges. The sellers are all reviewed in the thread with links to the exact pens ordered. Literally all of the homework is done for you. A guy even bought a custom suit for $40!! You work with a local tailor to measure you and then send the measurements over to them. LOL They even have a fully bespoke suit for $120!

I have completely lost the thread, but someone posted his email address maybe a month ago? The member said he doesn't respond to any communications off the website but he is communicating purely through email. The member bought stuff from him by selecting pics of what he wanted on the website and then explaining it in the email.

^ Brilliant. Thanks! [emoji2] [emoji106]

Such a nicer modification to the watch. The 1655 was awful to read. Very poor design and dial layout, but the case and bracelet design is beautiful. By putting in a 1675 dial and hands you turn it into a nice looking and functional piece.

Sometimes my Galaxy S4 does this same thing. Take the pic first. Then edit it to rotate it. Then post it through Tapatalk. It is the camera app that is rotating it for no good reason. It drives me nuts. By taking the pic first instead of taking it right through Tapatalk, you are able to correct the issue. One extra step.

So what does this mean for those of us embarking on budget big crown builds using Athaya 8mm brevet crowns and tubes? Will the tap that Athaya recommends for his tube actually work with the tube?

So you think you have a fat font vintage insert?
