  1. If you don't want to put the effort in to learn about the parts and you don't have a friend that can help you tell the difference then you have no choice but to go to an ad and pay whatever they ask for.
  2. Ah ok gotcha. I happen to love the look of a service dial on a 5508 or 6536/1. But why make another that will never compare to your first? Tiger case is thick and actually none of the aftermarket cases are thin enough. It will look silly compared to the one you have. Why not sell the service dial and use the cash to build a 6538 big crown. You have the 1030 mvmt so get a phong case and t17, 8mm gen crown really helps and a gilt dial/hands..

  4. Haha u guys are cracking me up this morning
  5. Also I guess it needs to be said that with spending 6k on his version you will not get your money back if/when you decide to sell it to one of us! You may get half, but with the build I outlined for 6400$ you will get most if not all back if/when you decide to sell
  6. Can I ask you first which dial you have in your ubi-stein 5508 presently
  7. 2600€ for the gen parts which is 3500$ us. His case is around 1200$ with no bezel or crown, and the movement and hands will be around 1200$ imo so that's a total of.. 5900$ he will charge 100$ for fedex and 400 ish to build it. That's 6400$ us. Just saying, it's only a few bucks over the 6k he would have charged you for his version with upgraded mvmt and rep dial etc
  8. Imo you need to buy a genuine dial eg: http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1385247366/ And genuine bezel: http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1384971435/ And genuine crown/tube (24-700) : http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1385255127/ And genuine tropic 21 crystal either sd or service your choice: http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1378396517/ Then when you get your parts send them to phong and ask him to build you a 6239 using his mid case, pushers, case back, hands and movement. Do not opt for the movement conversion just a straight v72 will do, he will assemble it for you and send it back built. I've given you what I feel is the minimum amount of gen parts for a 6239 to make it very nice. All in you would be spending the same as if you recieved a watch from him with his superficial movement conversion, but with a bad a dial bad crown and ok bezel... If it were me, I'd spend the money he would have taken from you for the conversion and spend it on these essential gen parts Slightly more work, same $, much better result Just to add I can make you the same list but for a 6263/5 build, I just knew of this particular gen dial that's for sale and for a 6239 but there may be a big red dial for sale.. It will cost double..
  9. Indeed
  10. Rolex gen pushers, top 16520's bottom 6263/5's
  11. 6538
  12. Wow, I would love to have that many insert choices! That's awesome and what makes the subs/gmt's so fun to own. You can get a diff look just by swapping the insert
  13. Yes it has a refined look the orig pam rubber didn't. I will prob get a pam rep just to buy this band, I really want to try it out.
  14. I still don't so don't feel bad. Take it to your guy, go for lunch and it will be done before you finish eating, that is if he has time to do it of course.
  15. Not really, that's why people use gen parts to make their watches look more gen. Rep parts/watches aren't exactly like their gen counterparts therefore people buy the gen parts they feel will help with the overall look and start upgrading until satisfied, which is never btw.
  16. He would not remove the crystal.. He would remove the entire movement and dial and reinstall the hand that way. It's something they do everyday,, no biggie!
  17. Lol, yup buying straps can bankrupt you just as fast as buying watches! I think these are brilliant, I've had rolex rubber b's and the quality is amazing, tolerances are exactly to rolex standards so the bands fit like they should as if they came as an accessory with your rolex. The rubber is extremely high quality. I absolutely love how they eliminated that space that pam rubber leaves exposed. I always found it rather ugly tbo.. Look at the difference now without a gap, the moulded rubber end links are killer!!
  18. http://rubberb.com/en/rubber-b-panerai Pretty cool!
  19. That dial has aged in a beautiful way. I think they were offered in 3 color choices with 2 insert color choices. Here are a few. Black and brown/red inserts with either gold, white or brown/red dial choices.
  20. Nice!! It's a 6542/8
