Looks like the guys over at vrf think it's gen, I've never seen print quality like that on a rolex dial until now! Sorry again op! Strange though that some mk11 dials have sharp print and some don't.. Almost like a big batch had printing that bled but rolex said ah well put them into watches anyhow.. Weird

That's something you don't see everyday or ever! That insert has an amazing natural fade giving it a kind of 3d rounded look, gorgeous. That estimate is funny since a regular one of those would fetch 2-3x estimates let alone a super rare version like this. On the other hand it does say custom made, and since the movement had to be put in upside down, the dial had to be custom made with the feet inverted. One of a kind dial means that if anything happens to the original it can't be replaced with a genuine. A bit of a an interesting one, I'd love to see what it ends up selling for

Imo not gen, the back of the plate looks really strange, the position of the feet are correct and that little hole but it's not a genuine rolex plate. The dial print is not crisp, there are spots where the paint is too thin like middle of the coronet.. Print up close looks bad, rolex print is crisp. Here's a comparo with the dial you showed from chrono24 You may not be able to tell but trust me the print is not rolex quality. Run

I wish, if I was I'd know for sure if they were gen or not! But thank you

That pic is better, short but.. No big deal. They still give me a funny feeling but they could be gen. If they have shine they are likely plated and not gilded, you can tell in person better. So gen relumed or replica baked hands I'm not sure.. So sorry I can't help further

Comparo with 10xx hands to show you that the minute hands hole is smaller on 10xx hands vs 15xx hands Top yours mid 10xx hands bottom 15xx hands There are no other possibility, gilt hands spanned two generations of movements so safe to say you can mount them on your 1520
-
I've been going over it all for a while and there are a few strange things that are leading me to believe they actually are meant for a 15xx movement, the alternative, 10xx movement hands have a smaller minute hand pinion (the diameter of the hole). I think it may be the angle of your pics that threw me off and the fact that genuine 15xx series gilt hands are slightly diff from the back. The wall I was referring to earlier is taller on genuine hands, (I do not think this would affect being able to use them) and the fact that the same wall is so short on your hands threw me.. Here's a pic of the wall, and a few comparo's with better angles that match your pics. To summarize, I don't believe they are genuine, but after more research they do appear to be for a 15xx movement, lume is not original and so if they do happen to be genuine hands they have been relumed. They will fit a 1520

Early gilt 5513's did have gilt hands but these aren't them. I've tried to identify them for you but they don't match any so far. Here are yours compared to 5513 hands. I also don't really like the way they look, could be MY hands, there's a guy in china who buys them and artificially ages them, he tries to pass them off as gen and to me these resemble those. The lume is not right, so if they do happen to be gen hands they have been relumed. Gilt hands are dull and not shiny like in these watches Edit: I showed you those pics of the back comparo's because the gen 5512/13 hands have pinion walls that are taller and in the case of the hour hand a smaller diameter

Diving into Big Crown territory...

Bravo! It looks fantastic, thanks for all the kind words, it was my pleasure to help. I'm thrilled that we are able to make these beauty's thanks to these amazing dials. He actually ran out of genuine plates so I'm glad we were able to get a few while they were available. He refuses to use non genuine plates because you can't really call it a redial at that point, hint hint mq. Enjoy! And if you're anything like me it will be very hard not to wear it. -

I have a spare so I took a pic to show that there's really only 2 good threads in there before the tube hits the gasket. Normal. And to add, that guy on vrm from the link you posted just didn't know that he had to broach the tube after installation or the crown wouldn't fit into the tube opening. The 800 crowns all fit the 8000 tubes once installed and broached.
-
That is the way they are, mine turns a tad more than half a turn as well. All the ones I've had with gen crown/tubes have been the same. You'll see it's natural and normal once the stem and movement are fitted, it also becomes a lot easier for the threads to line up with eachother at that stage. I always had trouble doing it when there wasn't a stem/movement there to help line things up perfectly.
