  1. True! That's what I fell in love with on the original ones, they tried their best with the bevels, but yes if they could have recreated that case shape they would have something truly special. They just basically started with a sub c base, and did it the easy way instead of designing a case from scratch
  2. I just checked yes there's a post that holds the pearl so maybe they are getting the inserts before rolex drills the post hole..who knows
  3. It's a gen ceramic insert sans pearl and triangle painted red
  4. I would pay for those bevels alone! All kidding aside those bevels are so hot, every modern rolex should have them.
  5. Yes, and one of them is Philippe the vintage guru, I just read that they actually used a batch of nos 8mm crowns from the 50's that's insane I really want one of these now
  6. It would be so much better if it had a gilt dial but it's nice, they did a good job
  7. Just to add if the watch costs more than the movement and is in bad shape then like tomhorn said nobody will really want stuff in bad shape. For the older movements it does make sense sometimes.. For example, a friend was looking for a 1030 movement and we couldnt find one at the usual 1000-1200$ price for one in ok shape. Then I found someone selling an old ? (Can't remember the model) that had a nice running 1030 in it for something like 800-900$ (head only). That makes sense because it was less for the entire watch! He could then sell the case and all that for whatever amount and he made out like a bandit.
  8. Not worth it at all. Buy the movement you need. Email this guy, he has a few! http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1377885047/FS-+Rolex+Movement+Cal.+1570+w-Date+Function+%28Movement+Only%29+--+%241k He's from vrm don't mention reps
  9. But his watch is from 1977/78 so they would not have put an old non hacking 1570 in there, no way
  10. I think what happened was that your 1520/30 has had the the rotor bridge swapped out for a 1570.. The rotor bridges on all "15 series" movements are interchangeable. It is possible to see a 1520/30 with a 1570 rotor bridge and since it's non hack that would make sense. That's my best guess

Maybe not outperform but my iphone has taken some nice shots, here are a few.. I can't wait to get a camera, every time I have some extra cash I tend to want to spend it on a new build! I'm making a daytona right now but when I'm done ill spring for one. Thanks for the really nice comments everyone.
  12. Has he!? I really thought he had some sort of rule. I'm sure that someone told me he wouldn't do a lume job on a replica dial, but a quick online search and it seems he will accept any job, apparently he likes to take his time but it's worth it if it looks amazing in the end imo. Sorry guys, I really didn't think he or jack at IWW would want to be associated with rep dials but I guess a job is a job and it looks like they do...
  13. He won't touch these dials, they would have to be redials on original plates at the very least for him to do it
  14. Can vac do vintage lume? It shouldn't glow and there are two versions, flat and slightly raised depending on the model..
  15. Great photo's guys, I'm wearing this again
  16. Yes I was referring to your pic, I should have used the quote button You pulled it off, great pic of a really cool dial
