That was great! More! One of the big reasons that I love this place is because of the mods here, they really are a cut above

What would it cost to get a 1953 Rolex Explorer 6350 working?

Watchmakers international (Bob Ridley) is located in Arlington. He's amazing and can bring that puppy back to life -

Amazing old bb movement Freddy knows a ton about them, I'm sure he'll chime in soon. Do not change the movement. The parts are available and if sent to one of the know vintage guys they can handle that blindfolded. Have it serviced and the new stem put in, polish or replace crystal and seals, done. -

Beautiful! Send it to a company like abc watchwerks, or http://www.watchmakers.com/services.html And expect to pay anywhere from 3-500 is my best guess. A stem is no big deal and the crown is prob ok once the new stem is in place, just make sure to use a company known for vintage restoration because you don't want that amazing dial and hands to be replaced with service parts. I wouldn't touch the dial or hands at all, with a new crystal or once that one is polished it's going to be really nice! -

Have you settled everything with the members who's watches you have? If not you're not done -
I don't even know what to say, you're lucky to be alive. It's like it's right out of one of bear grylls's episodes, your lip and then falling through the ice not once but three times, I'm not sure many of us would have made it. Really reminds you how powerless we are to nature, although some of us more than others, it's rough out there! Can't you ride on a path that doesn't have freezing cold death water waiting to suck you in?
-
I actually don't remember that for some reason, not as active back then. Holy sh*t, you mean to tell me you fell through the ice on your bike and you are still doing that?? Talk about getting back on your horse, bravo! Did you get hurt? That's so dangerous if nobody is with you because of hypothermia right, what did you do?
-
Absolutely amazing! I can't believe you ride your bike in the snow like that, you must be in great shape. I would be exhausted

Mike, you were given a huge responsibility weather you had your own section or not, you accepted work from people here, good people using their hard earned money to enjoy a hobby. There is absolutely no reason at all that some are still in the dark. I/we would very much appreciate you getting a hold of the few people left who still haven't heard from you. Stop what you're doing, put the parts/watches in a box and ship them out please. Enough is enough, I haven't said anything for a long time but if I have to read one more post about your inexcusable actions I'm going to have an aneurism. I as others here have friends in Chicago, I'm not threatening you Mike, I'm letting you know that I will not allow you to do this. Send it all back, and send them the tracking numbers -
You were my inspiration, I've been in a daytona coma ever since seeing yours in person

Thanks! And thank you for all your help, it really made things easier for me

Thanks guys, yes exactly Woof, more character, I found it on ebay and got lucky I guess.

Ever since I sold my Franken 6265 I've missed it more than I ever thought I would. I was going to make a 1655 as my next project, I even aquired a gen service dial hands and bezel for it but decided that I rather have a daytona again. So I sold those parts and started buying up the 6265 parts that I need. I have finally got it all together and am just waiting for phong to get back from his trip on oct 1st to get it all put together. Here's a preview.. Specs: phong case, new gen p302 pushers, gen bezel, gen 702 crown/tube (threads are good but seems really used and over polished), tropic 21 sd and beveled (not sure which I'll use) roamer v726 movement and a gen big red dial that has seen better days but is original and has lots of character imo. I think I've found gen hands but we'll see, I don't have them yet. I am really excited for phong to get back and get it all assembled for me, my usual watch maker can't handle retaps..

I know that it's the project x company making it, they do this all the time and don't get sued.. Am I the only one who likes it!? I hope my love of big crowns isn't clouding my judgement! I don't like modern rolexes because they leave me cold, no bevels, thick blocky cases etc. but in this case I feel like they did make a better looking modern rolex, way too overpriced though imo. I wouldn't buy it but I would certainly wear it.
