  1. Mistakes happen, I would think that if they did, they would provide you with a replacement. What happened?
  2. RC was accusing a dealer of calling his watch gilt when he thought it wasn't, the lighting was making his gilt text appear white in his pics.. The whole thing was deleted. Later that day another person was trying to ask if the watch he was selling in the market could be called gilt so he posted pics and asked for opinions. Again there was confusion and diff opinions, Rc felt like it was time to really nail down the term; what can be called a gilt dial and what can't. That's what it's all about. The two watches in question do have true gilt dials, something that took RC 3 days to figure out.
  3. Very nice, ap bands has those links you need!
  4. A lot of it was erased on vrf and a new discussion was started this morn. I was somewhat involved in the talks..
  5. I have 3 genuine crowns and they all take 1.1 mm stem, the reps that I've had take .9 anyhow I have both sizes, Forrestal, if you want I can send you one of each so you'll be sure to get the right size.
  6. It's an option on the lower end, if you want to make one with a smaller budget. Please read about some builds that were done and make a decision about how much you want to spend in total, I would say a yuki case is preferable to tiger and prob not that much more $. Ndt and Minh are essentially the same, at mid - high end range and mostly for people who want to use lots of gen parts. Phong is the highest quality and price and so people using his cases generally want to build a super franken with lots of gen parts
  7. None are accurate, if you want to make a Franken you need to start with a proper case from phong ndt or Minh, then build from there.. Chose a model, buy a case set and then we can help you to get the right dial, hands movement and all that other good stuff
  8. Awesome, get a gen dial!!
  9. Oh ok I thought it may have been around the same size. I know Daz has lots of experience flattening and working the dsn blancpain inserts, maybe he can take the one you have and flatten it somehow Either way it looks great, was just a thought fix your crystal height issue
  10. 4mp! I guess it's not what you have but how you use it
  11. .9 But with a pic of the crown opening I can confirm 100%.. I had the Minh crown which I believe is the same as ndt, it used a .9 tap the gen's use 1.1

I was doing some reading and it looks like I lucked out, my insert which I thought was an mk1 because that's what the seller listed it as, is actually pre mk inserts. Whoever decided to name them mk1-2-3 left this one out. This guy calls it mk0.5 http://rolex.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-732/pi-5769208/ti-849983/ I think it's even earlier and rarer than the mk1 that I thought it was, maybe the first insert made for a very limited time right after the red triangle ones. I don't think I'm going to use it knowing just how valuable it might be.. Kind of a shame but I don't want to risk damaging it! Top is mine, middle is known mk1 and bottom is the "mk0.5" from the link I posted which compares to mine the best imo
  15. What a watch, I don't normally like modern watches but boy does this one strike a chord, really a shame they don't make a 40mm version for us small wristed people
  16. This one is a lot flatter if it's the same diameter And bottom: Michael Young's
  17. Great job, I agree the all red gmt hand is perfect, I liked the original sword hands but the Mercedes hands are cool. The insert is very rounded, I think a flatter insert would correct the crystal problem. Like a blancpain insert, if yours was flat like this the crystal would sit flush or may even be slightly above it.. Food for thought
