  1. I can't tell from the pics, but with out closeups and a shot of the back I would have passed.. I only trust vrm sales, the pics have to be good, you get to know which sellers are very good and they all offer refunds if not as described so its safer than ebay where even if someone has 100% feedback there really isn't the same accountability there is with a market like vrm
  2. Buy the seller, is he a known gen dealer? I can't tell from those pics but if he's a trusted known dealer then the likelyhood that they are fake is extremely low
  3. Jmb might make you one, he's def the guy to talk to.
  4. Nanuq did I believe, he was less than pleased from what I remember
  5. They come up on vrf fairly often here are a couple.. Sorry I don't have the part # http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1371504673/ http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1371311113/

  7. Thanks DH! I just checked and ya the 1655's are much thicker. I'm not sure what to do now but maybe ill look for a modded phong case or the like and plop a 1570/5 in there and call it a day.. I appreciate your help. I was under the impression that they shared the same case dimensions..
  8. Sorry if this makes no sense but the more I look at the case, the more I think that you can sand down the height of the outer rehaut wall and prob completely eliminate that top step. Then you would have to measure the outer diameter and see if there's a tropic crystal that would fit over it. Again you would need a custom made retaining ring that would fit tightly over the crystal and accept your bezel.. So exact measurements a must!
  9. I don't think you can put a crystal that slips over the rehaut because it has a built in step inside the lip where the crystal was, it would look very strange to see a step in the rehaut. I believe you can pull this off but you need a custom made retaining ring that sits flush and tight with your case after modding it so the bezel has something to attach to. You might need to lower the outer wall of the rehaut it looks too tall after lowering the case profile
  10. Ya that's who I was referring to, I'm being a copycat, I never saw the pictorial thank you!! I'm off to go look for it.
  11. Hey guys, I've decided to make a 1655 but the price of an original dial and hands is very high so I decided to get a nos service luminova set instead. A member over on vrf took his 1675 and swapped dial bezel and hands to make a super franken 1655. Apparently the case, movement, and crystal are the same. Can anyone confirm this before I run out and buy a gen 1675. I figure ill keep the 1675 dial hands and bezel aside so I can put them back if I ever want to sell it. The only thing I'm missing if this plan works is a genuine nos service 1655 bezel, pls let me know if anyone has one I hope someone can confirm that this will work because I really don't feel like looking for a movement and buying another mega expensive phong case if I don't have to!
  12. More commonly known as mk5, it was the last of the tritium dials before the mk6 luminova service dials. They were used in the last run of 1675's and as service replacements during that time before the mk6's were available.. http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/149110-rolex-gmt-master-history-and-reference-pictoral-part-1/
  13. I know I didn't mean to be rude, I meant that he's solid so if he says it's a Tritium service dial then it is
  14. It's authentic, the seller is well known and offers a refund if not satisfied.. No problem
  15. Happy 4th of July to my American friends

  17. Great line! Also I have a feeling that the well-regarded Hong Kong-based watch restorer he's referring to is prob Michael Young
