Wish I had thought of doing this a week ago when trying to order stuff from the states (the mail forwarding thing that is)

Bring on the reps of THESE!

No Australian bids allowed, so much for me winning. Damn, and I needed a digital...

Going to go with success here.

Problem is 'jersey' means basically t-shirt type top on ebay. Have been typing in 'fleece', have managed to come across one that may be alright - most people will only ship inside USA on ebay for this type of thing. Don't really need a ski jumper - got the leather for when it gets that cold. At least it has filled in an afternoon searching rather than doing anything productive...
-
Ken, how did I know you would have 'connections'? I am originally from NZ, so for me at least, it is still autumn weather Actually, a girl at work during the week was wearing 3 jumpers she was so cold and I had just driven in with the top down on the car. And on that note, it is part of the reason I am not into AFL (although not into any of the footy, something about big muscly men running around grabbing at each others waists just doesn't do it for me...) CS, yes I did check out the bay, nothing there either, I guess maybe I should have thought about this a month ago before it started getting chilly.

So it is getting towards winter here in Australia, and I guess I will need a new sweatshirt for the coming cooler weather. Anyway, rather than getting the same old stuff we have here, and since I am not a fan of rugby, I am thinking of getting a baseball one. Thinking of a redsox one, but I have run into a snag. The MLB website sell them, found one, but shipping is $50. I don't want to spend more on the shipping than I do on the sweatshirt. Amazon don't ship outside the US for clothing, and having spent the afternoon searching, I am finding it hard to find any deals on the net. It is getting a bit frustrating since they are all made in China anyway! Anyone have any ideas?

A couple of comments: The scrolling text at the top moves too fast IMO, hard to read. Also, your FAQ: looks like it is an exact copy of the FAQ from bluefakes or one of those sites. And with the FAQ, the questions at the top come up purple on my monitor - very hard to read. It may just be because of the background color, not sure there. Otherwise I like it, the black background looks good.

Hey, I for one don't want her down here! (But Pug, feel free to give the porn stars you know my address...)

Thanks for the quick answer, not too sure I want to try any mods yet though....

I was thinking about adding a bracelet to my pam 113, but have come across people mentioning the lugs are a touch closer on his cases compared to others. Just thought I would ask if a bracelet will fit his case or would it need modifying? I need more weight on my wrist!
-
Just been thinking about the crown guard myself, what sort of price are the genuine ones going for? And do they fit rep cases without mods?

proof that the normal public knows nothing about watches
phaedo replied to cableguy's topic in General Discussion
As a general rule, I doubt most people know anything expensive outside the Rolex name. I know until I came across this forum I had never heard of half the names, although I was never looking for a Rolex, to me it seems more like an old man watch, but as for AP, PP, Panerai, I had never even heard of them. Now I am looking for my second Pam... In fact, until finding this forum, I never even thought Omega were a decent brand - although they were Swiss, I thought they were on the same level as Swiss Army watches. As such, I still don't really want an Omega. But maybe one day. To be honest, I like having the more obscure brands on my wrist that people don't know just because they look good. -
Probably was, the guy that took it from me wrote it was a 'luminor' on the order. It is just a bit frustrating, in that I had them waterproof it, so opening it up to clean on my own may mean that is no longer the case. Refitting the CG is easy enough of course. Oh, the joys of not being able to have servicing done at the AD!
-
I got my first Pam a couple of weeks ago, but when it arrived it would stop for no reason on me - not due to it needing winding, I thought the hands must have been brushing or something. Anyway, I took it to a local place at the mall to have them look at it - they said they would service it. Got it back a week later, so not a bad turnaround time. But.... I hope it was serviced well, because there are a few bits they could have done better. It runs properly now, which is a good thing, so they must have fixed that problem. Now for the bad bits. They got black cloth particles on the inside of the crystal, which is annoying, but what makes me concerned they may not have done a great job was - wait for it - they put the CG back in upside down! The lever lifts from the bottom now. Not sure I should take it back to them about the dust if they screw something simple like the CG up. But now for the next problem... Thinking about which Pam to get next

This post was the fist I had heard of the brand, so firstly good on him for getting some free publicity. Second, as Beanboy said, for the money and a non-Chinese mechanical watch, they don't look too bad. Under $2,000 for a tourbillion!
-
Sorry about the link not working, no idea why it isn't, and it doesn't work for me either. But yes, Pug, it is the one you put a picture of. And I did wonder what was going on with no description, had not encountered this before. I guess at $8,888 with the number 8 being a lucky number in China, it makes sense to put it at that price as a placeholder.

Just noticed this watch on Trustys website - at that price is he selling gens now too??? http://anonym.to/http://www.ttwristwatch.c...roducts_id=1568 Bit too much to spend on a rep I think!
-
For myself at least, Rolex is not a brand I am at all interested in, so it is other brands I am more interested in. But let me make this straight right off, it is not that I would be looking to buy something to sell, rather if I decide a few months after I buy it I no longer want it, which models as a general rule do better or worse? And again, it is just a query at the moment, I am still a year away from even thinking gen. Ideally my first gen will be my daily beater until I die, of course picking up others along the way as I make my fortune
-
I have quite a broad question, what is the depreciation like on gens as a rule? Is it the same roughly for all brands, or do some lose money faster than others? Looking at what people want for their used Pams over on panaristi, it looks like they hold their value well. I like reps for the low cost relative to gens, it gives a chance to sample a variety of different watches for a small fraction of what the real ones cost - if you decide you don't like it after a while, there is not much of a loss, especially if another forum member is willing to buy it. But for me, although it is still going to be a year or so before I think of getting a gen, it would be nice to figure out which ones are worth buying new versus second hand relative to depreciation in the event I decide 6 months down the track I don't want that one after all.
-
My initial thought wouldn't be rep, it would be... stolen. But then, I think along the same lines as Neil on this; having said that I have mates who are tatooed bikers, or were in their younger days, and they are good blokes. And the current trend of girls with tats on their lower back just says 'dirty skank' to me, especially since they try to show it off...
-
After seeing this box it got me thinking, would there be enough interest to try and get one of the dealers on board to get something like this commissioned? Of course it would be heavy and probably cost way too much, but any thoughts??

I second what Ken says here, basically you are leasing the laptop, with the option at the end to buy it, upgrade or return it. Works out cheaper in the long run, and although you don't own it by the end of the 3 years it is obsolete anyway and if anything like my current laptop (that I still have 2 months of payments to go on) it will take 10 minutes to boot up by that time without reinstalling windows (which I don't have my reinstall CD either ) But you are a student over here, right? So that may mean difficulties i actually getting a lease, a bit like being able to get a loan as you are not a resident.

The HBB A7750 is Nothing special, just a normal one.

One question with that though The Zigmeister, with proper servicing will it last 50 years like the Swiss gens or in 10 years time it be worn out? I sure hope so, or there will be a lot of paperwights around us in the future... -
Well, so much for a 5 minute job. Took it to a guy I know at the mall, he will service the movement. So back in about 2 weeks. But having said that it should firstly fix whatever the problem was, and it should also be good for another 5 years. Just going to be hard to be without it for the next couple of weeks with the waiting, it is bad enough waiting for a watch to arrive in the first place, without having it 2 days only to have to wait for it again.
