Is a Chronometer rating moot and pointless these days?
Corgi replied to crystalcranium's topic in General Discussion
I have a lot of cheap $98 miscellaneous Asian 21J watches that run in COSC time... most of my reps actually tell very precise time. I don't think I would spend money on a gen "just because" it is chronometer certified. -
Welcome! I am from Ottawa too! There is also another guy but he doesn't log on that much...

You can disable banner ads for free with your internet browser... ugh... -
It's great fun to see some of the faces behind this community... really strengthens the community in my opinion.

If they made a nice, proper, heavy full gold Rolex DJ or DD and the plating didn't rub off after just a few months I would buy it, sure... I think lots of people would. I doubt it's going to happen, however, because the gold plating methods currently used by manufacturers are probably the most cost-effective solution avilable. For these men, money talks, and since these timepieces are good sellers currently bringing in maximum profit there seems to be no need to invest in changing that!

Finally some nice weather means fun in the sun and lots of Nautilus action when the snow has melted away! Comes from Patek Philippe in the jumbo size... 43mm on a slender, elegant case encapsulated with the highest elegance - perfectly accented by the vintage style crown and robust construction I trust.

TTK was an absolute maniac. His vulgar, often highly inappropriate and insulting comments did not exemplify in any way the spirit of RWG. I, for one, am extremely happy to see him gone and I personally find the decision should have been made much, much sooner. His behavior was absolutely intolerable and thus I do hope his ejection from the forum is permanent. Furthermore, he scammed many buyers out of their watches and conducted his business under a web of lies and deception. The addition of Skype, from which he seemed perpetually absent, did not solve the many communication problems that I personally experienced in my futile attempts to contact him. I wouldn't be surprised if he joins GlobalReplica, or some other notorious fraudulent site, because that is obviously where his heart lies. RWG is a place for honest, kind, trustworthy individuals and his presence was like a disease from which only now we are starting to recover. Threads like this only the further the possibility of a relapse, which I believe most members would hate to see occur.

Those are datejusts at the top?
-
Great Datejust! This one has correct roman numeral indicators at 7:00 and 8:00 ... excellent.

Environmentalists and hippies might lose respect for you because of the whole "sweatshop" image associated with counterfeit goods, but I think most people would secretly want to find out where to get one so they can wear a luxury watch on the cheap too!
-
Just because somebody owns a Rolex doesn't mean they are interested in haute horology. Quite the contrary even, since it is the most popular brand. I think more knowledgeable 'purists' would be those wearing less popular, more exclusive brands. Any clueless joe redneck can get a Rolex if he spent enough time working high level at company X.

This is the only Hublot that I genuinely like. h -
I saw this one posted on Perfect Clones. The addition of an automatic movement is a step forward, but the shape of the case and especially the crown and crown guards is quite poor. The hour markers are also comically fat, and the bezel is a little too thick as well. The general idea of the watch is actually quite fair, though the enormous flaws will prevent me from picking this one up in the future. Owning an MBK standard 5711/2 further strengthens this.

Old Family ladies watches: a Jaeger Le Coultre
Corgi replied to Stephane's topic in Other Brands Area
If that JLC is really Platinum encrusted with (so many gigantic) genuine diamonds then it could be worth a pretty insane amount of money... six figures even. -
Yes this is because you have multiple computers and you need to re-direct the internet to each. I couldn't figure out my router so I purchased a separate internet connection for my other computer.

Who is Neil? Besides, I thought all bans were permanent??
-
It might be something similar to running around the Nevada desert in silly oversize costumes and then playing back the recording in slo-mo. (kidding of course)
-
I block all of the sexy lady pictures unfortunately... don't want to have any faux pas if you know what I mean!

Big difference between a message board devoted to the discussion of a very particular niche hobby, and a website made purely for "social networking".
-
Good advise. I really should install my anti-virus software... I got a copy of "NOD32" with my computer but I'm afraid it will block my bittorrent. Can anyone give me some advice?

Terrifying little critters these are.

I bought my Mont Blanc sunglasses from this dealer on ebay... fantastic transaction all the way: highly recommended. LINK: http://stores.ebay.com/Color-Viper The glass used in counterfeit eyewear is of dubious origin, and has been proven to cause discomfort and even potential injury in some circumstances. Moreover, your sunglasses are probably the second most importance article of fashion (between the watch and the pen) so it's worth the extra bucks to ensure authenticity. The ladies will like it, you'll look good, and eventual re-sale will be much easier. I hate to sound like a commercial but Mont Blancs are probably as good as it gets in the high-end men department. I would say better than Cartier even. Here is my set: (all gen except Patek Philippe of course) [edit: picture]

I'm not impressed. Why is it that so many German watches have such a bland industrialist design to them? I'm not saying that what these watches can do is unimpressive; on the contrary - I think they are quite the technical achievements. They just look so boring to me.
