  1. How about Ferrari Daytona replicas? You know the "Miami Vice" model (which actually WAS a replica). Those originals are so rare and expensive that you have to be a NHL/NBA player or Hollywood movie star to be able to buy one. If you enjoy the design and are passionate about something... why not? Equivalent in the watch world is probably the Paul Newman Daytona. Not affordable to general public. They even have a community for the replicas. I wonder what Ferrari owners think about them... http://www.daytonareplicaclub.co.uk/2401/frames.php
  2. Good point. I remember their "Fake Busters" squat team back in the day. There were two posers who were reporting perfectly legit watches as fakes on several Ebay auctions. When I politely told them that they were wrong and those watches were 100% legit I was suddenly the bad guy. Never went back. There are some very knowledgeable people but most of them know nothing about Rolex.
  3. ...when you build a franken from 100% gen parts, instead of just 90% of gen parts? http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=236497 Apparently peopla at the Rolex Forums think so.
  4. Nice. Now you can be like Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo.
  5. Looks really nice. But the crown guards are way too fat. They should be like "spikes". Should be pretty easy to fix though. Make them thinner by sanding them from the "outsides". Then repolish.
  6. Dan Carcillo of the Blackhawks took Stanley Cup to the backstage of Rush Chicago gig yesterday.
  7. Ouch... that's a terrible rep.
  8. Remember that the actual watch will be 20-30 times smaller than the pic. Most bulk reps have this kind of issues... they're just Chinese knockoffs of the real thing anyway...
  9. Bruins had size, best goalie in the NHL (Rask), great defensive-minded system (a lot similar that Kings used last year) and hardcore, gritty forwards... and probably the scariest guy in modern hockey, Chara. Jagr was supposed to be their sniper... but he's 41 years old and while he played good playoffs he scored ZERO goals. They generated possession and moved the puck great in the offensive zone but in the finals they didn't have that "one guy" who could make the difference. All Cup winners always have had that... Yzerman in Detroit, Modano in Dallas, Lemieux in Pittsburg, Selanne in Anaheim, Gretzky in Edmonton, etc. Hawks had Kane, Sharp and Bickell. True Krejci, Lucic and Horton scored a lot in the playoffs but not that much against the Hawks.
  10. What is a "BP GMT II"? Can you post a pic of that base watch?
  11. Yeah that Toronto series ending was even more heartbreaking... but I guess the Leafs fans have gotten used to this kind of stuff better.
  12. You can probably re-sell it quickly... even in this forum unless you paid too much for it.
  13. @Doc: Yep... that certainly looks like it's for an older (pre 2003) 16710. And that diameter is different. If that's the case then good news is that it's very easy to sell. I don't remember if some 1675 inserts came with the Serif though... make a simple Google image search and see if you can find examples.
  14. YES. FINALLY! THE PERFECT SUB! ARE YOU THE CHOSEN ONE... M3553NG3R 53L3CT3D BY 7H3 53CR37 CoUNC1L? Yawn.... thread closed.
  15. Check my review... it's not that apparent on the black dial versions.
  16. Gen. The biggest issue on the rep (to my eye) are the SELs. They look really cheap and sloppy on the reps. Other than that the SFSO replicas are great. JKay's white looks pretty damn good. Lume dots look great... best I've seen on a rep. They should be pure, ivory white "buttons" when uncharged.-
  17. That watch was a serious candidate for some heavy duty frankening. It had all fundamentals correct. The rehaut and crystal construction were gen-like. It even had correct crown position. For some reason it never got the respect it deserved. Perhaps the incorrect hand stack was pushing people away from it? My ExpII was with the correct stack though. It worked fine but then I never touched the independent hour hand setting. Sold it a long time ago. I loved the watch but the old ExpII wore too small for me... I have big wrists (and had even bigger when I was still training heavy). I like the new 42mm version and the rep looks really nice. But perhaps not quite enough to get one. Much nicer than the GMT & Sub upgrades anyway.
  18. Good Tuesday morning from hot Scandinavia. Wearing this magnificent franken Sub.
  19. Can you still get that BK Explorer II Utherman? I thought the guys were talking about the new 42mm version. Yours looks like the old Noobfactory ExpII which was an excellent replica. Very accurate and with some small mods almost WM9/TC quality. I owned many of those.
