Hmm... isn't it kinda frustrating to answer "Are the ETAs in our watches real Swiss ETAs" to every single newbie who comes up with this question... almost daily? Perhaps Ziggy could post some kind of "mini-FAQ" into his section which explains it for the noobs who don't bother to use the search function... and check all those countless threads about this subject... so we could just always cut and paste the link instead of explaining it over and over again... like 10 times every week. I'm sure most of us are glad to help... but for me this question has become almost as annoying and predictable as the "best Sub" question.

Actually, the only reason I haven't purchased a AT rep yet is the questionable movement. It would be nice to know if all these ETA 2892-3 fakes are crap... or perhaps the bad experiences only relate to "old batch" of this movement? I haven't heard of any current complaints about them.

That looks a bit like the SeaHawk. Nice watch. I chose to wear this today. And as usual I have set the time so the date starts changing at noon. I always feel like an idiot when that happens.

I see the search for the best Sub still continues. Quite close, but not really (as usual). They're both ok reps, but the "S" in "SUBMARINER" is crooked as hell on the version 1. Not that it really matters... but I've never seen a flaw like that before. That might become a collector's item one day. (ok just kidding).

I always ask myself "Will it see wrist time or not?" when I'm thinking about purchasing a new watch. There are lots of models that I really like... like TAG Carrera, Bell & Ross, ExpII, Railmaster and Mont Blanc GMT, but I don't think I'll purchase one. Navi is a legendary watch model. But as much as I like the Navi... it just never felt "right" on my wrist. I really like the Carrera too, but I think the design is maybe a bit too ordinary... and the wrist presence probably wouldn't be that impressive. It's just the "gut feeling" I have. Best advice is to go to the AD and try different watches. Then buy a rep. It's impossible to give advice to others... It's like asking "what music I should buy?" Never buy any watch just because you "think you should own one".

I made a little research and found out that this watch is not Breguet, it's most likely a "Borel Neuchatel". The marking "Spiral Breguet" probably refers to a Breguet manufactured balance wheel on the movement (or something similar). Met my father yesterday and took a look at his gen collection. 2 IWC's, 4 Rolexes, a Glashutte and many others. However one really got my attention: A pocket watch. This watch was a gift to my great grandfather. I have no idea when he received this, but I suspect it was in the 30's. He was very highly positioned man in my country's government. All he knows that this watch was a gift from the French. That still doesn't mean it's extremely valuable, but I think it's quite a stunner, either way. The dial has no markings but my father claims this watch is a Breguet. Well anyway... he allowed me to take his watches for a photoshoot. I was going to take a GMT Master and make a rep/gen comparison, but then again we see boring Rolexes every day so I took this. I don't know if it's valuable but it sure is interesting... and something you don't see every day. It comes in a wooden, decorated (original) box: Both inner and outer caseback have 18K markings. Thus I have no reason to believe this watch is "tripple wrapped"... instead of solid gold. The inner caseback has this text (I hope I didn't misspell anything). My French is a bit rusty so I'd appreciate a translation. There's time and place for all constructive criticism, but how about letting the guy just enjoy his new watch in this thread? I already took the thread off-topic with my long-winded posts, but I just tried to defend his right to do that.

The edge of the insert is just slightly under the bezel edge. It's not noticeable, but you can "feel" it when you try it with your finger. But I sanded the "inner edge" of the insert more, not the outer edge. I got quite satisfactory results. But it's still not quite as high as on Robbie's watch which looks excellent. But it's not easy to tell the difference unless you take huge, zoomed pics.

Excellent choice, very nice rep. This is head and shoulders above the other version that has correct hand stack. The cg's are a small downgrade (wouldn't bother me though, they're not THAT much off) but the crystal height and cyclops positioning seems to be better on your watch. However I improved the crystal height on mine when I sanded the insert very thin. All in all this is very nice rep, very difficult to tell from the gen if you don't know exactly what you're looking for. The dial looks same to me. It has always been almost exact on this rep model, so why change anything? Here's a better and closer shot of my dial print: Congrats!!! GMT is pretty much the only Rolex I still wear. I'm not judgmental. I said personally. I'm a sucker for very accurate reps just as much as anyone... getting very accurate reps is a thrill... but we simply have no technical facility to forge the spacing for watches like Lemania Moon Watch or PO Chrono. I feel quality reps with wrong spacing is MUCH better option than having no reps of these watches at all. I completely understand that people complain about details like Submariner crown guards, but why complain about things that are impossible to "fix"? I don't see the wrong spacing on these watches as a "flaw", I see it as a restriction in current technology. Like I said, I would really like to see good quality 7750-based reps (or heck, even Seagull/Venus version) of watches like Zenith El Primero, TAG Link Calibre 36 and Ebel BTR, and I suggested these watches when RT did those polls. But these suggestions got generally hammered because "the spacing would be wrong". We have discussed this before... yes... Moon Watch is one of the most famous chronograph watches in the world. The wrong spacing bothers me a bit and that's probably the only reason why I haven't purchased the (otherwise impressive) rep yet. Daytona and Navitimer are very well known models too... but for Christ's sakes... it would be a freakin' miracle to find someone who recognizes a Ebel at all. I would love to have a rep of that watch, just for my own enjoyement. But if the feedback and buyer's response to reps like PO chrono is very negative, the makers could stop producing them. The better scenario would be, of course, that the factories took the technical challenge and developed a new movement... that'd make the tighter spacing possible. But somehow I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon. I appreciate people's opinion who see the wrong spacing as a "deal killer". But I think it works two ways. They shouldn't force feed this attitude to people who see things differently (or don't care). Me... I'm probably somewhere in the middle. I can enjoy the super accurate reps... or even complete fantasy watches. People buy reps for different reasons. We actually did a poll of this in the old RWG and I recall 70-75 percent of voters said that "they never, ever pose their reps as genuines". Yet these same people are often extremely obsessive about details like this. I have always found that equation a bit confusing.

True. But it's the old "honor among thieves" analogy that should apply here.
