  1. I had been on the waiting list for a White Dial SS Daytona for 3 years and finally got the call today. I got there and checked it all out, The sales guy said you want to go ahead and take it? and right then I glanced at the price tag. WOO wait a minute, why is the price soo much higher? (I had completly forgotten about the recent price increase). Well just due to that, I started to have a second thought and asked the guy if he can hold it for me (So I can sleep over it) as spending 10K after taxes is alot of money and this would be my grail piece. He said since I am a loyal customer he will hold it for me over night.

    So what I come too you all for is some advice. I started looking and reading up on rep Daytonas and have come too realize if buying a rep Daytona will fullfill my long time urge. I know of the issue at six and wont mind putting in a better swiss or Zenith movement into it. Though the one thing thats itches me is the 3o'clock misalligned subdial. What are some other issues with this watch? and how close are the good reps to the real deal? Also who is the best dealer to get the best rep from?

    Any help will be greatly appreciated as I don't think I am ready to spend 10 grand on the real deal.

    Thanks

    Spend about 20% of that money and get or build a Vintage 6263 with the offset chrono @4! Seek the advice of freddy333, he's the expert......also do a search on Daytona or 6263 and you'll come up with some great education on this watch!

    For now, I'm very happy with this (since I don't have $24000):

    Good luck!

  2. Opps - Right, grammatical error there......... :huh:

    Watch choices would be:

    Panerais

    IWC Pilot/Railmaster/FA Jones

    Andrew recommends the Swiss Unitas in the panerais, not mistrusting his expertise just looking for opinions on all three movements.

    Andrew is right, although I also have the Asians on a couple of Panerais and they seem to be okay! On the other brands, sorry I can't help you, I only have manual winds on Panerais!

    Use the Search Button and maybe you would come up with something helpful! Goodluck!

  3. New to RWG and having only placed one order with Andrew I'm now looking to buy a manual wind watch, either basic or chrono. Based on what I have researched here it seems the (best) choices for movements are:

    Swiss Unitas with Swan Neck

    Lemania

    ETA 6497-1

    Can someone please me with the pros and con's of these movements.

    Appreciate any help.

    Pete

    I could please you if your Mind is Automatic and not Manual~! :D

    BTW: Welcome to RWG! And about manual wind watches???? Depends on the model, so you have to specify.

  4. I alway's wanted the classic portugese chrono but the problematic sub seconds @6 kept me from acquiring it .. so now that the Portofino has been released as a replication.. I pulled the trigger .. I decided on the silver dial for the concentric ring definition in the subs and I really like the silver dials.. the silver gold dial sort of was too much contrast for the classic look.. IMO.. the black is nice looking also.. ahhhh choices.. :D

    You've got good taste my friend....though I'll go for the silver gold dial meself!

  5. I seldom wear a shirt and wear a suit less (once a year, maybe) and I don't think you can wear this without either unless you're genuinely too rich.

    Hi Pug!

    I'm sorry, but I beg to disagree. I wear my Gen with blue jeans and white adidas sneaks with blue stripes all the time in the summer.....sometimes with white or dirty white suede driving shoes or loafers (sans the socks)! I think the Blue TT is versatile! You could go very casual and yet classy! Or you could go formal and sophisticated.

  6. I'm looking for a new piece with a brown face and I'm leaning towards this one from Josh.

    Bentley 6.75

    But I'm not 100% sure. Does anyone have any experience with this model? I've read that the steel braclet is a little small. True? If so is the leather version better? I'm guessing a custom strap would be better.

    Any other suggestions with a brown dial?

    How about these two:

    or a PAM036:

  7. Wow, thanks for the additional suggestions!

    @carlsbad & Tee Jay

    Hmm, hadn't thought of a white dial Pam, would look great on a tan strap...I'll seriously consider it.

    @Homer

    That's a beautiful watch, but a bit too shiny for me. Thanks for the suggestion though.

    @ajoesmith & Stephane

    I think the XL looks better in black dial, you can see more detail such as the distinctive 12 & 6. The white dial looks too washed out. Thanks a lot you two, now I'm considering this watch also, LOL.

    White Dial watches....hmmmmn.....let me count the ways:

    Good luck!

  8. Damn, Lani......I'm gonna be begging pretty soon! Another one on my to buy list....Breitling Heritage, Rollie new GMT II,,,,,,now this......arrrrrrgh~! Gonna get the Heritage first, though. I'm first on the line when Joshua gets his stock!!!!

    Great Review, my friend! We appreciate your great work!

  9. I can't imagine any gay man wearing either of those watches. A jock frat-boy-type, perhaps...

    Wat 'ya tokin bout, Linus???? Us Gay man can't wear a B&R???? :lol: How 'ya doin TJ! Long tym no hear! How's everythin' on the other side of the pond?

    Cheers! Hike
