  1. Phtbbb..

I don't own any Pams (yet) and I've not heard the tem "Sandwich dial" before. I'm not a noob here, but just never heard that before recently. Apparently a "sandwich dial" is a big deal for a Pam. But I had always considered Pams to be very FUGLY so I've always ignored the things.

I apologize, silly me to assume that everyone are into PAMS! Sorry Jon!

Don't be so hard of the fella. The first time I heard the term I thought the dial lume was filled with radioactive cheese. Sort of like an emergency ration for Italian Navy frogmen. if they got stranded behing enemny lines they could eat their watch dials in an emergency.

Seriously a sandwich dial is a dial made by sandwiching a layer of lume between two metal plates with the hour markers and numbers cut out of the upper most plate revealing the lume in the middle.

I couldn't explain it better than that! Well said, sire! Thank you very much!

  2. Have searched for a Black Seal automatic on the forum and dealer sites, and haven't found one yet. Is this a new PAM model that hasn't been repped yet, am I losing my ability to use a search engine, or am I otherwise mistaken in searching for this watch.... Little help to keep me from feeling like Im an idiot.... thanks

I'm not a Panerai expert, but I don't think they made the Black Seal in an Automatic movement......I'll be interested to know if they did and what model????

  3. Hi, give me a few days to set up my website perhaps (i cant promise) should be up tomorrow.

AR-Coating service looks like its gonna also be included with my services if needed. I already made a deal.

I talked to a indepentant trusted long term member here and he will also validate my pre-7750 claim with his own watchmaker.

Don't wanna give names yet until all is up and running. He's a great guy! Keep you guys in suspense.

Hang on just for a few days, I have limited stock in Europe at the moment but for fast shipping can also be send from China.

    @Nos send me an e-mail and I'll take a look ;)

    Kind regards to you all.

    Hi Chris!

Welcome! Hope you do well! BTW: I sent you a WELCOME email....and I'm US based!

  4. Hi Reg

Your a good man. I have done business with you on three recent sales. Our beef is with TTK and not with you.

If we felt there was no justification to our threads then things would be different. I learned to day, albeit from one member, that TTK has never refunded on a sale he could not deliver. To me this isn't right. I am sorry he is ill, but going back in history/ threads.....it's become a pattern when the kitchen becomes hot.

RWG is a forum that advises members on scammers, the lastest on what not to get into out there on the web etc etc. Reputations/status endorsed by RWG goes a long way to us the members. Maintaining that reputation and support by RWG is a priviledge that must be supported by actions not inaction.

Sorry, but this is how I feel.

And I second that......what do you say ADMIN Group??? Please let us know what you think? Is the ADMIN suppose to act as an Arbitrator on situations like this with Priviledge collectors?

    Thanks!!!

  5. I agree with both of you 110%!!!! :thumbsupsmileyanim: I know I bought a REP and I accept it as what it's about......sh@t, if you want it perfect then buy a GEN! If it's close enough, then great, if not, then don't buy it. I don't get the point of spending more money on a rep to get it as close to the gen as possible. By the end of the day, its still a rep! The same thing as servicing and ARs and lumes.....just don't get it! As you said, 90% or more of the population don't know crap from GEn.......Just my personal opinion....not to flame the anal types!!!

I have friends, co-workers, acquaintances who are professionals, you name it...and none of them had called out my reps yet.......I save my modding money and buy GENs if I wanna feel real!

    Just me.......

  6. Does my 8 months long wait enable me to post here even if I was well before than the group buy?

In this case, I did not receive:

    1. one noobmariner

    2. one LV noobmariner

    3. one PP Nautilus Jumbo

If I were dead in these last 8 months and he delivers tomorrow, would it make for a come through?

Hi ssurfer....you're most welcome here......actually I'm surprised you just posted now! Good to hear from you! Thanks........and I know how you feel!!!!

  7. Gaaaaad!! How could I have missed this....must be the title you give it Cat!

I'm so sorry to hear about your predicament, but at the same time very happy that you're doing well...for some reason I'm glad I found this just when you are well into your recovery!!! more power to you and my prayers are with you and your family! I know how you and your family feel......both my parents have cancer and both are doing well and responding to their meds!

Wishing you fast recovery and a Happy Life.......Hala Bira!!!!!

  9. I always remove the stem in the time-setting position. Why? Because I don't have The Zigmeister's skill and I'm not prepared to release the main spring like you're supposed to. The thought of unleashing the tension in the spring carefully scares the bejebus out of me. :)

So, yes I do it wrongly, but I feel better about it.

    Hi Pug!

Could you elaborate more on your procedure? Does this apply to the Swiss 2836 series and the Asian Version or to all the movements?

    Thanks

  10. A container with rocks that spins. :o

Hahahahaha!!!! Now, that's really funny! That test would be the end of this watch! I'll just probably take it hiking in one of the Colorado Fourteeners next month and see if I could

bang it in one of those rocks up there!

I think we can trust you...just take a before and after shot.

Now this, I could do! I'm doing my dishes this Friday, so I'll load it at the same time!

    Test pictures coming up soon!!!!

  11. The key area I inspect before I decide if I am going to press on the release during installation, is the shape of the stem where it sits into the keyless works. On the ETA 28XX series, the stem has a taper or ramp to it, which means it should press the set lever arm up and out of the way as it's inserted.

The 7750 series has no ramp or taper, it's 90 degrees to the stem, and needs the set lever release pin pressed down to get it in place.

Never ever force anything, and your unlikely to damage the movement.

The 6497 is a screw down set lever, not a pin, you unscrew, remove, insert, re-screw...

If the keyless works is popped out of place, it could be damaged as well, accessing it is via the dial side of the movement, dial and hands come off, and you have to disassemble a number of brigedes etc to get access...

    RG

Thanks again! That's what worried me! I guess I'm better off buying a new Asian 21J!

The 6497 was a breeze! Now I have to build the courage to do a Swiss 2836......and that's like most of the rollies I have! I guess greasing the O-ring on the tube from the outside without removing the steam would work just fine....and also putting some around the inner portion of the crown!

    Thanks again RG!

  12. I can only share with you what has worked for me.

I always remove the stem in the winding position, for a dozen of reasons including: in the winding position the clutch and lever are not under tension, the crown gear is held in place with the clutch gear, the stem lines up with the front and inner guides as it's inserted, etc...

As for what you may be doing wrong with installation? Can't say for sure as I am not sitting next to you...

On a 2836 type, you DON"T press the stem release pin, it's only used on release. Insert the crown and stem all the while TURNING it as you insert it, otherwise you may knock the clutch gear out of place, as you insert it, turn the crown in the winding direction and when you feel and see the movement winding (Rotor Removed of course, so as to not damage the cluck wheels) continue to turn the crown as you finish inserting the stem and it will lock in position.

This works for me, on the 7750, you MUST press the release pin to have it go in.

    RG

    Thanks a lot, RG!

I think you pointed out where I did it wrong........that is, I was pressing the stem release pin while inserting the crown and pin!!! By doing this, I must have knocked out the clutch gear out of place, because now, it will not lock into position. This is BTW on a 21J movement, but I assume should also be true on a Swiss??? To fix the clutch gear or to put it back in place, does it need a complete dis-assembly of the movement??? Would the cost of this kind of service the same as buying a new movement?

I guess on the 7750, it is the same procedure as the 6497.

Again, thanks for your expert advice! Priceless!!!!

  13. When you remove the crowns (and stem) from the movement, which way should it be; winding position? Date Adjust position? or Hour Adjust position???

I leave it at the winding position ang I've been having problems putting it back on ETA2836 and their Asian counterpart....

Is ther anything I'm doing wrong???? It works fine with the 6497, Swiss or Asian.....I have not tried it on the Chronos or 7750s. Is there a trick to doing

    this?

    Please advise and thanks!

  14. I guess I've been lucky, all the Rolexes I have from Joshua (Subs/GMT/YM/ExplorerII), SFSO Asian, Non Chrono PAMS and Ferrari 08, and Chopard GTXL Asian have all been in water (shower/swimming/jacuzzi/turkish bath) and made it with no problems! I have since opened all of them and greased the caseback and crown/tube o-rings. I have two Radiomirs from TTK that I did the same and so far have been fine in water. Look here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...hl=torture+test

On the other hand, I learned not to trust the Chrono models! I made the mistake of wearing my Navitimer TT and PAM 253 in the shower and regeretted doing it.....they've been serviced since, so they're ok, but that's the last time I'll wear a Chrono in water, except the Ferrari 08....that thing is build like a tank!

  15. The fake trade or industry will not stop as long as the Gen makers produce them in God Forsaken prices....and us lowly people would

love to own what our rich brothers and sisters have!

It's the law of supply and demand...and the producers with their governments' tacit support are exploiting it!

Not that there's anything wrong with that! Everyone has to eat!
