  1. Growing up around the Ocean... and spending so much time in the water... it just seemed ntural to have a watch that was water resistant ...

but I alway's looked at divers watches as "tough'.. and able to withstand abuse.. :p

Needless to say Pilot Watches are for what?

wow take away our Divers and Pilot's.. do you need to be a diploma carrying Mathmatician to wear a FM Crazy numeral watch ?

Does "Muff diving " count haha.. that didn't get {cencored}...

maybe someone should start a "irrelevant" thread.. or a " are we running out of things to discuss" thread

    Does Muff Diving count?

You have to be MUFF Diver Certified before you become a Muff Diver! It take's 7 days of intense and constant MUFF Diving Training and PADI does not offer

this! I believe Costeau originally was the only certified instructor for this, but out in Hawaii, Lanikai was personally Certified by him!

Daily deep immersion is required 3 to 4 times a day at 1 hour each session (be warned - some people develop a rare sensitivity to the Alkaline environment

and come up with MUFINITIS!). Every nooks and cranies of the MUFF is shown so that during the certification

testing, one could identify all the locations and details of all the important spots that is needed to satisfy the requirements!!!

    Good luck!

BTW: The MUFF Divers WATCH is still under development and will come out as a REP in mid Summer '08!

  2. Maybe I've been lucky all these years! I never take off any of my watches before I take a shower or work out in the gym or any activity! The only time I take off my watch is when I go to bed! Although there's always an exemption to this rule.....any of my watches that has a leasther strap don't touch water.....and definitely not a Navitimer! And I only swim and dive with screw down crown type watches!

Since last year, when I had the guts to open all my Reps and got comfortable doing it, I greaased all their rubber gaskets (crown and caseback) and all the new ones I get! So far, so good!

  3. First to arrive, from Asia (last Mon): Joshua's New Asian Black Sub! 5 days!

Same day, Thurs: Radiomir Black Seal SS from one of our Members from Australia......ajoesmith! 10 days!

Rollie GMT Retro from one of our members here in North America (US)......omeega! 6 Days!

Thanks to all guys!!! Will definitely do business with you guys anytime! I highly recommend these folks....watches came as described and as promised!

I greased all rubber gaskets and all are ready for some diving this summer. Ajoesmith, I have to put the diver's strap on your Navy Seal for that purpose, sorry!

Just one more from another OZ member: stormtrooper.....Brown Dial PP Nautilus! Should be here next week!

  4. Hi Vik! Good to hear you're back! We missed you a lot! RWG is not the same without you! It's like having a Banana Split without the Banana! Hope you had a great vacation and got a good TAN! Don't forget the pictures....we need to see those happy FACES!!!! and pool shots!

    Bentornato!

  5. Here's my clothing/watch rule:

with suits: gold or TT (TT SUB/Cartier Santos TT/ Gold Radiomir/RG IWC Saint/RG MB)

Casual/Jeans: Any SS watch would do and most of the time I match the dial with my shirt color!

I like to wear my Blue dial TT Navitimer (sometimes GEN TT Blue SUB) with blue jeans/white Tommy Bahama shirt/blue leather Cole Haan driving shoes

and I'm 73 years old! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  6. Hate to keep on saying this BUT.........Josh, Andrew are both great to deal with but there is a level of QC that is missing as compared with TTK. The odds of getting a lemon are greater dealing with Josh and Andrew as compared with TTK.

The other thing to consider is that you are buying an asian movement which even if all the QC work is done can prove to be problematic.

However to take everything to a very high level I would very strongly suggest that you buy from BK. For 360 bucks you get the WORKS and a reliable timepiece that will last you potentially for many decades. Its the same watch as above but BK adds not only a full QC but he will modify the watch to make it as close to gen as possible....reshaped CG, great pearl/recessed insert, gen like crown and tube, o rings greased to improve waterproofness. Add to this that you get a swiss ETA movement that can be serviced by any watchmaker (that would agree to service a rep that is). What you will have in the end is the closest thing you can buy as compared with a gen without any worries about the typical issues of the pearl/insert popping off, bad pearl, oversized CK, oversized crown etc that you will find with the basic NOOBS etc. I have bought 7 subs over the last 3 years and I would have stopped at TWO if I had been able to buy a BK mariner in the beginning (black and LV). Its more costly but in the end much more of a reliable timepiece and a higher level of satisfaction. AND nobody is going to call you out for wearing a rep Rolex...its that close to the real thing.

    TTK is gone! Who's BK?

  7. I have read that these Sub78's first popped up as Xmas specials on Andrew's site, so is that long enough for a comparison with the tried-and-true "noobmariner" or even a solo review? I have also heard that these are the same exact watches as the $108 noobmariners except with an updated (bolder) date font.

    Thanks.

Andrew's XMas Rollie/SUB specials (The ones from last Dec. 07) were a dud, as far as I'm concerned! I oredered a Black and a YM and both of them are inaccurate (+5-8 mins/day) and hard to regulate that I gave up! Now, Joshua's current cheap models are a diff. story! I got one of his $110 Black Subs last Sun (which he shipped last Wed, 4/9) and its been on the dot since! Much better quality on the outside, too!

  8. Contact Silex and request for cross shipping as suggested.....I'm pretty sure he'll agree to it as some of the trusted dealers here do! Shipping to return is on you, sorry to say! But, maybe he'll work it out with you on your next order!

As The Zigmeister said, if you haven't opened a watch before, you might as well not or you could end up with a bad Trophy of your mis-adventure!

  9. watch left china on the 9th - (last tracking on ems) its the 15th

i used to have my watches by now

i understand like around christmas everythign is slower -

    is it just me?

The one's coming from Joshua is pretty fast! He sent me an order Wed. of last week and I got it last Sun.! The one before that

took five days! I thought that was fast!

Sorry Pho.....that's about the same time as when your's left China!

  10. I will be in Manila from 18th - 20th April.

Can anyone help in sharing places to go to to get good quality reps?

    Thanks

I don't think you'll find any decent reps in Pinas! China or Thailand is the place! On the other hand, if good time is what you're looking for, then you're in the right place.....have fun instead......, but, hey, if you actually do find them there, please share it with us! I'll be visiting end of the year!
