Hi guys as some of you may know i had some issues when purchasing a planet ocean watch. i originally bought a 42mm planet ocean and when it arrived it had a fault with all the hands jamming up. As i was new to rep watches i spoke with dealer and he suggested i return the watch to him for inspection...week later i manage to get an exchange and i decided to go for the 45mm ultimate planet ocean as i prefered the size and heard it was a better version of the watch. so another week goes by and i get my new watch all excited as you are..... like christmas all over again unwrapping your new toy!!!! so i took the watch out and was so glad i went for the 45mm as it looked and felt so much better. previously i bought myself a toolkit from offshore at watchbitz......so i jumped straight in and adjusted my strap with my shiney new tool kit...i then go to set the time and pulled out the crown and nothing.........just spinning round and round and round. hands not working forward date not working forward but hands working backwards..... great another watch that i need to send back.so i got onto the dealer and he responded instantly as usuall and said send it back. so i got on Rwg and asked what members suggested and most answers were coming back to usuall stem/crown threads stripped or keyless works issue? so i searched the forum and found a thread by sneed12 on how to repair your keyless works. so i went to bed saturday night and slept on it. got up sunday and thought to myself sod it whats the worse that can go wrong if i try repair this myself....i destroy the movement or damage the watch and have to buy a new one! i cant afford a new one at the moment but its only £90 for a brand new movement. so here goes nothing, bear in mind the only mod or repair i have ever done on a watch is adjust the strap which i did for the first time on this 45mm watch. please correct me on anything that i mention that is incorrect as like i said i'm new to all this and don't know all the correct terminology for everything yet. so i start with what i know and pop off the strap, case back and magnetic cover.. i noticed a couple of minor issues when i removed the case back, nothing that can affect the working of the watch i then pop out the stem to find the crown loose on it so i removed crown and then refitted, feels better but i really need a new one. then i remove dial securing clamps and dial from case and put clamps and screws to one side then i removed dial from dial/movement holder and put in the clamp/vise now this was a one of the bits i was worried about.....removing the hands! luckily again sneed12 had a great idea and that was to make a dial protector out of a business card to stop any damage on the dial from hand removing tool. another thing i read somewhere on a thread was to remove all hands together in a stack which i'm glad i read or i think i could have broke something here. right hands off now for the dial, on the reverse side you have to pull out the dial feet locking tabs/levers to remove dial now thats out of the way we need to remove the date wheel and datewheel securing/guide plate and screw to access the keyless movement also note there is a round spring washer in the center which i read be careful not to loose this as it could fly off without you realizing!! this is where i realized i would need the stem and crown in to set up keyless works so i put the cover and date wheel back on and refitted crown and stem now i removed the date wheel again and cover and this other ring which i'm guessing is some some of spacer ring. now to reveal the keyless works. i then removed the top part of the keyless works which this part seems to hold it all together like some sort of clamp. now thats out of the way i find a few issues which i think was causing my problem, a couple of levers not located correctly and a cog not located in its hole correctly. it took me at least 3-4 attempts on fitting all these parts in the correct places before i got all the functions of the time/date/hack settings to work properly, mainly due to the little cog (shown in picture) kept popping out and not staying where i told it to stay! oh the next part which me being caught up in the moment of fixing my watch i didn't take pictures of.......yes the part where i show you where it should all go so i have got a picture from sneed12's thread to show you(hope he doesn't mind me borrowing his picture) now that thats all done i rebuilt my watch in reverse order until i get to refitting hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now this has got to be my most hated part of the whole day, i tried putting hands on one by one then turning with crown, every time the hands kept falling off! i thought i would be there all day at a massive hurdle but eventually after several attempt i sorted it, and the closes i got to date flip over at midnight was 55 mins past. thats close enough for this repair as i did mark the dial from trying to put hands on and off several hundred times.but when the watch was back together you cant see the mark. once hands back on i cleaned with cotton bud. blew out case and dial to get rid of any dust that may have got in during repair. there we have it a great sunday morning spent repairing my watch which i am over the moon i managed to do. i just want to say a massive thanks to all the guys on the forum for they're help support and knowledge in pointing me in the right direction and a hugh thanks to sneed12 for his amazing tutorial on how to repair your keyless works on on omega planet ocean. cheers again and hope this may help someone at some point. Hi guys I previously got a 42mm upo and when it arrived luckily for me it had issues and I sent back for repair. I ended up getting it exchanged for 45mm upo and I'm so glad I did.it really doesn't look too big on you wrist compared to the 42mm. So glad I changed to 45. Ive only got 7" wrists and was worried to about it being to big. Here's a quick wrist shot if it helps of the 45. Cheers Ryan

QC standards - what should be expect?
the_rymeister replied to Polynomial's topic in General Discussion
It would be nice to see the watch you have ordered having its time and date set, and it actually working. as both the watches recently that I've ordered have had issues. -
Had to bump this topic, great thread mate I'm gonna attemp this myself the next week or so.thanks for the effort in putting this tutorial together.

Sorry jk I missed your post I'm in uk. I phoned a couple of local watch repairers today and both said to me if they work on any sort of replica watch they will confiscate it from me and send it back to the ad that the watch is replicating.

Cheers freddy, the only way I'm looking at it is if it all goes wrong I could just buy a complete movement and install it. I can see the logic in sending it back as it is an easy option but I'm also keen to learn how to fix these issues myself.only thing that concerns me is realigning the works. As i dont really know when i take it apart if it is right or wrong,as i have no knowledge in this field, wish it was an engine as im a mechanic by trade and it is alot easier working with complicated parts that you can actually get your hands on! I think the movement removal and hand removal ect looks quite simple.( correct me if I'm wrong) .....I'm so stuck with what todo.
-
Thanks guys I totally appreciate that the movements may require servicing, and upo's being common for crown faults but I tried setting time once and it didn't work.the problem I got Is this is the 2nd watch from who I thought was one of the better dealers on this forum and has been mentioned in this thread. I'm beggining to think that this dealer is a drop seller like tj said. Ive spoke to the dealer and he said to send it back for refund as this is the 2nd watch he has sent and both have been faulty.but after reading more posts today it sounds like its a fault with the keyless movement, I'm very new to watches and have only the knowledge I have read on rwg, I have a full toolkit from watchbitz and I am contemplating trying the repair myself and fitting new crown, tube and stem whilst apart.i have never done this before but am thinking if I fix it I know it's fixed,if that makes sense.otherwise I send it back and get another one which in turn could have similar faults being it out of the box or a month later. Woukd you guys recommend I try fix it or is it a very complicated repair trying to sort out keyless movement? Thanks again guys for all the help and support. Cheers Ryan

Hi guys I think I must be super unlucky as I ordered my first reps on 28th of september which was an omega smp chrono which touch wood has been amazing, and a 42mm planet ocean. Well the planet ocean turned up and all the hands were jamming up on themselves, as this was my first experience I thought I better send it back incase I break something trying to take it apart, so I send it back and after about 25 emails each way I end up with a upo 45mm coming my way. So I'm very excited as I think I'm getting a nice new working watch..........wrong Watch turns up and looks/feels amazing. Try setting time, crown doesn't do anything. So here we are 6weeks later and still no working upo

Crown issues on 45mm upo help please
the_rymeister replied to the_rymeister's topic in The Omega Area
Ok cheers buddy for advise. Crown is deffinatly more wobbly than usual. Is the keyless works a big problem to sort out? Looks like I'm sending it back for the 3rd time.. Think I may as well buy a gen planet ocean as the time I get a rep that actually works, I would have paid the same cost in postage fees as the cost of a gen.lol -
Crown issues on 45mm upo help please
the_rymeister replied to the_rymeister's topic in The Omega Area
I think I need to try and remove stem from watch.is there a step by step guide for taking eat 2824's apart.searched web but can't find much. Maybe the crown is loose on the stem? it unscrews from the tube then it clicks out 2 clicks !then nothing happens when you turn It to move hands forward but if you turn hands backwards then they move fine? -
Crown issues on 45mm upo help please
the_rymeister replied to the_rymeister's topic in The Omega Area
Hi mate cheers for response.basically when the crown is wound out of the tube in the set time position you can move the crown up and down a lot more than you should be able to. Would this be something I could fix myself? or is it quite a complex job? I have only had the watch less than a day! -
Hi guys ive just received my 2nd planet ocean as the first was doa.so I sent it back and got a new 45 upo. Really happy with dealer as wasn't an issue, he sent me a new watch as there was issues with the 1st I ordered. So...... Today I get home excited to be opening my new upo..... I resize the strap.....really happy as I just bought a tool kit from toolbitz. Then I go to adjust time on watch.................. To find the crown pops out the 2 steps to time set.... It won't set the times moving hands forward but will set the time by moving hands backwards , which I'm not happy with doing, I try popping in one notch to set date and date wheel doesn't do anything, feels like it would grind something internally if I was to try turning it.. Also the crown wheel is wobbling up and down on stem!! It screws in and out perfectly on the tube though. Am I correct in saying this wants a new crown, stem and tube or does it sound worse than that? I'm not really up for sending back again as this would be the 3rd time.and all I want is to wear my watch not spend another 2 weeks tracking it to china then tracking back. If its just a case of fitting gen stem crown and tube I will try this myself. Does anyone know what the part numbers would be for these parts as I did have a look on cousins uk and there was different choices/ case numbers ect. Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers guys Ry

Hi yangui I have not yet been in your position regarding customs Seizures but if josh is willing to either re send your or refund as it is held is customs, I would probably follow his instructions. He's been doing this for a long time and has probably had this many times before. Do the trusted dealers cover customs seizure? Hope you resolve your problem buddy. Cheers Ryan
