  1. So what about these crowns for sale on eBay, gen or fake? link eBay Item number: 190182431684 Update: Crown arrived, as promised some pics.. I am convinced this is 100% gen. Finish looks excellent, looks to be made of brighter SS and is just a tad thinner the the palp crown, also has a "deeper dish" then the Palp crown, and is spring loaded. Left eBay crown, Right Palp 2.1 (both for auto)
  2. Looks very nice Tourby! But the hands look allot like the IWC 3717 hands...
  3. Amazing watch Richard, excellent choice.
  4. A standard rep crystal fits a Jimmy case, but you need the teflon retaining crystal ring that comes with Jimmy crystal to get the rep crystal to fit a Jimmy case + you need a Jimmy bezel. The standard rep crystal ring is to thin for a Jimmy case, if used the crystal will just pop out of the case if you hold it upsidedown. Maybe Chieftang can supply you the Jimmy crystal ring. You can buy a PAM case set from josh that comes with gen sapphire crystal lightly AR coated, case, bezel and CG for 80$. You can use the crystal and CG for your project. Here's a pic of my Jimmy case + bezel + standard rep crystal, etc.
  5. Damn missed the boat... did not even know these where being offered...
  6. Looks lovely Clive Wear it well...
  7. Nice piece, but the inner bezel looks just as misalligned as the Costeau's inner bezel.
  8. Thanks for the clarification, additional information and tips The Zigmeister
  9. I can understand your concern. We where always warned to never set the date on a Chrono between 8 and 2 o'clock. If you did you could ruin the movement. This does not quit add up to Chrono's being user friendly in my books. Either the later warning was a fairytale or Chrono's do need to be operated with knowledge and are not as user friendly as proclaimed.
  10. Get this watch if you still can. It took me over 1 1/2 years to finally pull the trigger on a PAM27. Bought one from River about 2 months ago. Absolutely no regrets, I love this watch, and doubt I will ever sell it. I looks very close to the gen and has an excellent movement (same as the gen). In my opinion this watch will be the cult classic rep of the future, rockin a Genuine ETA with Soprod power reserve module, while the future reps will be running on Chinese copy movements or at best Selita movements. Here a picture of mine.
  11. Looking very nice David. This dial would be correct for the Pre 002A, but for 201A the 6 and 9 must be "square". Like in the picture provided by "tmg". The beauty of the 201a dial lies in the subtle details... Take you time to get it right, if you get it right you will have a winner and allot of customers...
  12. The Costeau Divers 2006 gets allot of oeeess an ahhhhhs.
  13. awesome collection babola.... lovely watch & strap deltatahoe!
  14. I'd like to kick this topic of with some pics of my PAM2B.
  15. Seen a few of these being flogged on eBay as aftermarket 7750's. Some fetched over 200$
  16. I also work in the I.T. as a Oracle DBA / UNIX sysadmin. If the vibes you want to send out is that you are a dependable senior professional that is confident, does not fold under pressure and is a person that deserves to be well paid, I would dress neatly and wear the IWC. I have met (freelance) senior Oracle and UNIX admin's that make 10K euro a month, so a IWC is not out of reach of a senior UNIX admin that talks the talk, walks the walks and presents himself as the right man that deserves to be paid well. Fake it till you make it and one day you will be wearing a real IWC... Good luck with you new job...
  17. WTH is a Super Big Pilot?
  18. The gen is not that expensive? I saw it offered a while ago for just over 1.5K.
  19. 25k for a ETA 7750 based watch, ridiculous. The design is looks nice actually, but is just another variation of the Big Bang. I am beginning to think of Hublot as the one hit wonders.
  20. I try to not get dust near the crystal in the first place by placing the case in an fresh plastic bag directly after decasing the movement and dial. I inspect the crystal and case thoroughly before reassembling, If I see any dust on the crystal I remove the particles with some blue-tack on a toothpick or I hold the case and crystal about 1cm from a vacuum cleaners tube, that sucks any dust particles right off... These tricks work well for case and crystal, but cannot be used for mounted dials with mounted hands... I have learned allot today, I actually always new that I needed a dust blower but was just being cheap... So I finally pulled the trigger a ordered a dust blower and a anti static brush... I already have blue-tack a cheap equivalent to Rodico.. Thanks allot for the tips guys...
  21. Thanks stilty... You are right about getting saliva on the dial... Happened to me once, almost left a stain on the dial... I shall be checking out the anti-static brushes on eBay...
  22. Do a bit of modding from time to time on my own watches. I seem to always notice a few dust particles on the dial after reassembling the watch. Dust on the dial is my pet hate, but even after taking thorough precautions to prevent getting dust on the dial, it mostly happens. I think the main reason is that I donot have a good enough method to blow dust particles of the dial. I usually wipe of any visible particles of the dial very gently with a small cloth or blow the dust of with a gush of breath. But even after checking the dial thoughroly before reassebling I always seem to notice a few dust particles floating around after the watch has been assembled and have been wearing the watch for some time. The solution that comes to my mind would be a to use a very powerful dust blower, that simply can blow all (to me visible and invisible) dust of the dial just before reassembling. Canned air comes to mind, but I am a bit worried about any other fluids they might have added that might stain the dial. Anyone have experience using canned air for dial dust blowing or does a regular cheap watchmakers dust blower like the following one do the job just fine?
  23. Beautiful pieces, especially the WM, which definitely deserves a more historically correct and more beautiful movement....

  25. Love it or hate it, you got to admit it is tremendously well replicated...
