scoobs1971 replied to redroom's topic in The looney bin
I think you're doing what fits your personality best. So go with it! And yes, relax, take it easy and see how it goes. Don't feel ridiculous about posting here about the situation. We've all been there before and I'm sure most men (and ms V ) don't mind to advise another guy Have a nice weekend and enjoy! -
Looking for a broken blue Tag Link Chrono
scoobs1971 replied to scoobs1971's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Thnx! But I already contacted my collector. The easy part is the dial. I already sourced it from him. However, the problem is the inner bezel - the ring of the dial. My collector couldn't source it anywhere. That's why I'm looking for someone with a non-fixable broken watch. -
Most of our reps are based on the same mechanical movements: ETA (2824, 2836, 7750 'Vajoux', 6497 'Unitas') , Asian Venus 175 'Lemania' copy and some affordable Chinese 21 jewel movements . Rep makers don't like to invest in copying/developing new movements. They prefer to use the stock they already have so they only have to replicate the dial, hands and case. However, since ETA have decided to stop selling movements to third parties in a couple of years, there is a trend of rep makers looking for alternatives. The first results are the Asian 7750, which lead to the explosive releases of new reps last year, the Asian 6497 as seen on the latest handwound PAMs and the Asian 2824. Most of the UN watches have movements with a completely different design than the current movements used by the rep makers. That's why you don't find them repped. Hope that answers your question.

I thought you first tried it on a black strap. So I was curious how that would look
-
Mr. Kent, where's the pic with the all black PVD PAM you promised? Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate it! If not Happy Day, hahaha.
-
Welcome aboard! If you're into Submersibles you might wanna check the PAM0199 Regatta. This rep is pretty accurate with the improved cyclops and date. As a bonus it has double AR And as others already mentioned, it doesn't stop with one PAM. But lucky for you we have PAMaddiction support groups.....

Raymond, I'm with you today IWC 3717 on Watchboys

Absolutely true! @jeff212: you might check this thread if you already haven't http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry353990

The OP asked for accuracy. All the above points are flaws. However, in the end I don't think it really matters. Nobody but WIS will look at your watch and note these flaws. So if you like the watch for what it is, enjoy it. I do, I just ordered a 177h with the same flaws
-
I prefer a functional design. That's why I love my PAMs (especially the 111 & 177) and I adore the IWC Big Pilot (unfortunately way too big for my wrist). I also have a couple of chronos which by nature are busier than watches with less complications. But a chrono complication is as far as I would go. Perpetual calenders, moon phases, calculation rulers, alarms etc. are really not my cup of tea from an aestatic point of view. Less = More.

Just to name a few dial flaws you probably have overlooked - the font should be yellowish off white instead of clear white - Luminor Marina is too big - L SWISS MADE L is positioned too close to the 6 - the bar of the 'A's are too low - the shape of the 3, 6 and 9 are different But then again this rep is still a very nice watch by itself @jeff212: you might consider the E-series PAM111 of Angus (Pure Time), which is considered to be the most accurate PAM111 out of the box at this moment. It has the bigger crown, the cannon pinion is not recessed, the sausage dias has filled indices instead of the painted sausage dial of the other dealers, the L Swiss L is better positioned and the decoration of the movement and shape of the regulator arm are pretty accurate. On top of it Angus is nice to do business with. Good luck!

Dating Advice - I really Screwed up and didn't perform
scoobs1971 replied to redroom's topic in The looney bin
Hmmm, I used to be like you... Nice guy, respectful, listening, considerate, sweet etc. Enough girls around me who all wanted me as a friend ('you really understand me') . But I always ended up with the girls running after the bad guys and coming back to seek comfort when the bad guys had left. Now that I'm a bit older, wiser and turned down just a few times too often, I notice that the times I'm not that considerate and nice anymore, say the things they don't expect to hear and act on impulse instead of thinking too much, the 'bad' girls are chasing me. What a strange world we're living in, hahaha. Anyway, you need to ask yourself what you want from this girl. You live in the US, she's in the UK. You are 31, she's 23. Do you really want to develop something seriously with her? Or do you just wanna have a good time and see how it goes? If it's the first, take your chance, take her apart in a quiet place if the time is right and be honest about your feelings. Don't make it too complicated, though. It doesn't need to be an emotional confession.... Keep it light. Just tell her how you have been appreciating her company lately, that she makes you smile and feel good. Look into her eyes, take her hand and say nothing more.... See how she reacts and handle the situation. If you just wanna have some fun you have to play another game. Don't talk too much, dance, smile, don't pay attention to her, than do pay attention to her etc. Show her a different version of you. Take the initiative. Be bold, but not cocky.. And most important: have fun! If you notice you have her interested in you take her to a quiet place and .... well you know, hahaha. Have fun and see how it goes. Either way don't appologize about the other day. You had a hangover. Big deal... Can happen to all of us. Finding excuses for it will only make things worse. And be prepared to be left in the dark or hurt. There is a real possibility that she isn't interested (anymore)... But you'll get over it. Anyway, good luck and let us know what happened -
Wow, what a great and exciting project! Thnx to Davidsen and all the RWG experts involved. I hope this turns into a very Merry Christmas

If I'm not mistaken the first batch was equiped with the old 7750. Perhaps some of the collectors will have some left. I haven't seen one with my own eyes, but I haven't heard about another difference with the new version than the updated movement. And I would only qualify the 3717 a super rep after it has been modded with double AR and ETA day/date wheels. Although out of the box it's still super to me......
-
Agree. However, I wouldn't consider a 3717 on a leather strap a sports watch. As long as he stays away form the SS bracelet.... And even that is a matter of personal style & taste
-
If you go for reliability I would advise you to service the movement the rep comes with and you'll be fine. All unserviced movements - either ETA or Asian - are a bit of a gamble in the long run. Besides that, if your watch doesn't have a slowbeat Asian 7750 (nearly all the new ones have the high beat) it is not a 1:1 swap. The hands won't fit and need to be glued someway. In the end it'll cost you extra money. Money that you also can use for servicing the original movement However, if you do have an old version with slow beat 7750 I would strongly advise you to swap it for an ETA, since the old slow beat 7750 have design flaws which servicing won't fix. Good luck! @Corgi: A Cartier Santos is not my cup of tea, but would be an excellent choice if it fits your style. But weren't you the one with the nice dressy VC?
-
Uhm, what does an ETA movement has to do with what to wear on a wedding? Owning an IWC 3717 myself, I would choose for this beauty to wear on a wedding. It's modest yet stylish enough to give a personal touch to your outfit. Since I mostly wear greys, browns and blacks the black gator strap it comes with would be a perfect match. For other suit colors you may consider a brown strap matching your belt and shoes. Personaly I wouldn't wear a SS bracelet on an official event. There are even people who think one should not wear any watch on such an inportant event where time is considered to be of none importance..... Anyway, have a nice ceremony and party

Great looking watch! What's your wrist size in cm?

so where does the name "Radiomir" come from?
scoobs1971 replied to lanikai's topic in The Panerai Area
Thnx for the link! The book has been ordered -
I've had the gen in my hands a few weeks ago. The AR is so good that the glass completely seem to disappear under most angles. It's like this pic for real.....

I think that everyone who only has one account gets a free watch
-
Tag Heuer was the brand that got me into reps (sh*tty Monaco Chrono bought in Bangkok as a first rep). The 3 other luxury brands I've heard of at that time were Rolex (who hasn't?), Omega (did I say Bond?) and Breitling (all pilots wear them, don't they? ). I think the majority of people who only buy watches to complement their image go for one of these 4 heavily advertised luxury brands. People who think a watch is only for telling time don

Very nice collection! Would you have some closer pics of the PAM212? I sold one in the past, but I
