IWC 3717: Genuine day/date wheels, genuine AR and a strap
scoobs1971 replied to Stephane's topic in The IWC Area
Bonjour Mr Stephane, That looks absolutely awesome! Did you send out the complete watch to K2222 or just the bare case with sapphire? -
Breguet Type XX Ref 3800. Aeronale Flyback Chronograph
scoobs1971 replied to dluddy's topic in Other Brands Area
Although a very nice rep, it looks like the subdials are spaced too wide .... -
So did yours passed the waterdrop test? I'm curious if the 21j has real sapphire too.

Great thread! My nominees for 2007: IWC 3717 'Ultimate' PAM0111E Rolex 'Noob' Yachtmaster And the winner is........ All of them!
-
Hmmm, it's very visible on my second pic. So I guess there are some more differences between the 21j and the ETA. Unless I got the older version instead of the one from the 'Noobfactory'. Can you guys see that from my pics?
-
This watch was also a big surpise to me! I can even imagine that people won't ask if it's a fake since it looks so luxureous and 'real'. But I'll find out soon enough.... What do you think of the lasered crown on the sapphire? Does it look too obvious or is it the same as the real thing? I'm also wondering how a gen looks in daylight so I can really know if the dial color is right. Unfortunately the AD wouldn't let me take the watch outside, hahaha. @jiro & Bklm1234: are yours 21j or ETA?
-
I was thinking the same. But now that I've been wearing the YM for a couple of days I'm finding the PAMs to be ridiculously big, hahaha.

Start-Of-The-Week Wristcheck (10-11 Dec 2007)

@Vic: good to see you also do 'girlie' wristshots;) They look great and very feminine! Yes, I know I'm a bit conservative, hahaha. -
Start-Of-The-Week Wristcheck (10-11 Dec 2007)

My first Rollie wristshot -
Thnx, Vic. It's very possible that the lighting at the AD affected the dial color. I was hoping to hear from somebody who had one in his/her hands

Last Friday a nice package from China arrived with the Rolex Yachtmaster from Angus. So far I've never been a Rolex adept, but seeing this beauty made me fall in love for the first time... This watch have been reviewed several times, so no need for me to do the same: By-Tor http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=60984 Bklm1234 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=52401 Stephane http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=60360 Some remarks: - when I received the watch the gasket was preventing the crown to be screwed open. But after some gentle pushing and screwing the crown got out and I could set date and time. It's still not perfect, so I think I have to open the caseback and reinstall the crown and gasket; - the bezel is working perfectly and is not too loose as with By-Tor's watch; - when I compare dial pics of the 21j-version (By-Tor/Stephane) and mine, theirs look a bit more silvery and 'sparkly', while mine look between silver and champagne/yellowish and less 'sparkly'. I've also checked at the local AD and altough it had a lot of lighting on it the gen resembled more the 21j-version. So maybe there is a slight difference in dial color/texture between the 21j-version and ETA-version. EDIT: I was right after all. The new Angus dial is more silverish and sparkling. - the 9 marker seems slighly off-axis, but only noticable on macro pics; - the laser etched crown on the sapphire looks a bit too obvious to me, which I couldn't notice on the gen at the AD; EDIT: the crystal passed the waterdrop test... - the movement is running a bit too fast (approx. 40" a day), so I'm going to regulate it; - the sun was shining through my window and I charged the YM and my 'ultimate' PAM111e. After 5 minutes in the dark the same amount of luminescence was left; - this is the first time that I could resize a bracelet this easy!

Are you a 'classic' watch person, or a 'modern' enthusiast?
scoobs1971 replied to mezzanine's topic in General Discussion
I think I'm more of a 'modern classic' watch person I really love Panerai (the simple models), IWC (Pilots and Portuguese line) and Jaeger Le Coultre (Master Control and Master Compressor line) . PP, VC and Breguet are a bit too classic, while I don't like the ultra modern models like the HBB or most modern Zenith watches. -
Thnx for the great writeup!

Hoi Hupholland Yesterday Fedex brought me a nice package from Angus. No problems at all. Maybe you were just unlucky and they picked you out during a routine check. Who was your collector? But I wouldn't use Fedex anymore if I were you. Better safe than sorry.... And if you don't wanna deal with c$stom hassle anymore you'd better use PT or Narikaa who are based in the EU.

I think there's a big difference between etiquette rules and style. Etiquette rules (like the do's and don'ts on formal events as black/white tie etc.) can be learned from a book, but style - in my opinion - comes from taste, creativity and the gut feeling what fits best for the occassion. Something which comes from insight and experience rather than from learning rules from a book. edit: What's 'hot' or not is also very much dependent on the social/business environment you're in. For instance, a book probably will say that sneakers are not allowed in a business environment. I would certainly agree for the more traditional businesses. But in the advertising world I see lots of street wear mixed up with formal wear, which can look great.

This outfit is actually not too bad... In fact, Ken, do you sell these too???
-
Says the Omega-guy that didn't like PAMs at all a few months ago... And now you have various models???? Good to hear, though
-
Hmmm, I don't think one gets 'style' from reading a book....

An open letter from Ziggy to the members of RWG.
scoobs1971 replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
Dear The Zigmeister, This is a sad day for all of us. You're the best asset we have on this forum. Your critical input, movement breakdowns and advice makes this forum stay ahead of all the other watch forums (at least imho). I do however understand your reasons to withdraw, but I truly hope that this turns out to be temporary..... Thank you for all the support you have given us and happy holidays! P. -
For me an easy choice: the Angus 'Ultimate' PAM111e with Asian movement. But that's personal. You have to choose whatever feels good to you. And that may be not a 'superrep', but who cares....

Gen to Rep pictorial comparison of the Rolex Daytona 116520
scoobs1971 replied to gioarmani's topic in The Rolex Area
Great comparison, Gio! I'm not a real Rolex fan, but this is THE Rolex watch I'd have if the movement would be more reliable... -
Thnx for the great writeup and pics! However, such a pictorial guide makes it look like it's very easy to do it yourself. While it really isn't.... Over time I've messed up a couple of dials and hands. So let me share some of my beginners mistakes: - use the right case opener tool. I had a cheap universal caseback opener that got off and scratched the ring. - be careful with opening the screw for the stem. 1,5 - 2 turns is enough. One time I wasn't paying attention and made more turns which resulted in a messed up keyless work.. - use gloves. The black dial doesn't like finger prints. Sometimes you can't even wipe it off anymore. - putting the seconds hand back if the pinion is not set correctly in the middle of the hole is mad drama. Also setting back the hour/minute hands can be very destructive without using a proper handtool. The best position for alligning the hands is the 12 o'clock position. - after placing the hands put the stem back and check by changing the time that the hands don't touch each other OR the dial, because this will result in scratches. - and before you screw everything back make sure, no, make absolutely positively sure that there's no dust/fingerprints inside the crystal or on the dial. You don't wanna know how often I had to open the watch again... Good luck to the ones who use this guide for their first time!

I recently bought the 'Ultimate' PAm111e from Angus. The CN movement looks pretty good and keeps good time so far. However, I had to correct the position of the Swanneck, since it has moved over the dagger regulator. Only a simple cosmetic operation, but nevertheless...

Hi Janice, welcome to the board! Currently there don't exist proper automatic reps of the Monaco model due to the different movement (date @ 6, seconds @ 3) used. Some collectors sell quartz models with wrong color dates and different case size.
