lug width is what? 18mm or 20mm? just pick a leather strap you like in the correct size and fit as normal, you can pick watch straps up anywhere, if you want a white 18mm leather strap just search "white 18mm leather watch strap" on google...unless the band on it now is one piece with the case, then maybe try emailing the company... id say a white smooth leather strap would look pretty good...

if you want the pearl to be perfect, its either a gen bezel and mod the insert to fit the rep assembly or put up with it really...or go for the 5th generation 42mm rep, they have pretty much perfect pearl placement and appearence...i was one to be picky about the pearl, i bought the gen bezel, and turned out to be more trouble than its worth, now im happy to wear it as it comes and little things like that dont bother me anymore! the search for perfection slowly made me question the hobby, and the money i spent was getting within a couple of hundred quid of buying a used gen planet ocean... the pearl on those aftermarket inserts does look raised, im planning on removing it and using the pearl that came on my rep bezel...should fit pretty flush then-hopfully lol and a little bit more centered, so if it works i'll be much happier that i spent just £20 instead of when i spent £200 on the gen bezel for my old franken...

Another option ofcourse to get one that will fit is to contact a trusted dealer and see if they can source one for you...should definatley fit then...

thats the question, i changed an orange rep bezel insert i had on a rep bezel ages ago to a black one, from another planet ocean rep-both 45mm, yet the bezel inserts werent the same size-by about half a mm...i do know on the gen bezel, some people have removed the insert and filled it down to fit a rep bezel, only to find it needed thining around the outer edge too as it was too wide, so if its made to gen size it may need some material removed to fit...hmmm, who knows! im hoping the one ive ordered will fit fine, will report back when i have it, but hopfully someone else may answer by then who has already got one...
-
looks to be the same as i what i ordered from watchtailor.com...they also operate out of texas (or so they say) and have an ebay store...im expecting it in the next 10 days so will let you know-unless someone else has already bought one and fitted it...looks to be fine though.

i dont really see josh's response as argumentative, just explaining in plain english that its how it should look, then asking after explaining this do you want to proceed...if you've then said no find me another and josh is doing this, then thats pretty good in my eyes. sometimes the emails like "noted i will proceed" etc may sound a little abrupt but its plain text and easy for everyone to understand-it can however come across as short and argumentative but im sure that isn't the case not sure whats ment to be wrong with the lug holes, everything looks acceptable to me but im no vintage rolex expert, these are reps though so some things will never be exactly spot on-if they were, who would ever buy a gen?! but they are close and great to enjoy...anyway im sure josh will help you out and hope you find one with the lugs your after!

This has been asked numerous times on this forum and there are numerous threads with detailed pics of both sizes... Search and you will find your answer

The red line is just the circular sticky see-thru film that protects the caseback from scratches from the factory, I'm guessing the dealer removed it for the close up to show the engravings then replaced it for shipping.

defo great choice for a first buy, they are great out of the box. you can get much better placed bezel pearls than that, usually it can be the close up shot making it look out of place and in reality it looks fine when you recieve it-but that one is definately too far to the right. its no big deal to ask for another example to hopfully get a better looking bezel-but ofcourse if your happy overall then accept, wear and enjoy
-
thats about as good as they get accept it, recieve it, enjoy it! dont worry about +10 a day, it'll settle down over time-my genuine longines was +12 when i first got it from an AD and now is at +7 after a good few months wear on and off. wear it well and post pics when you recieve it!

My Planet Ocean 45mm damaged to franken the story so far
bamcky2k replied to the_rymeister's topic in The Omega Area
try it on the rubber PO strap you have too, will look like a totally different watch yet again-always good to have options! as for the gen bezel like i've said before-its cool to have but not really worth it...plus alot of people dont know that the gen bezels insert is built into the bezel-not like the rep version where its glued on. people have removed it carefully but then you have to file down the gen insert on the back side to sit flat, or you can bond the whole bezel assembly in place (as the gen bezel doesnt fit straight on-too wide at the retention spring compared to the rep case...). defo not worth the 200+ quid new price, which is in effect the price of another rep... gotta say again though thats a superb franken UPO now and an excellant write up on the whole process-if anything this should be pinned as the info is invaluable to anybody wishing to attempt the same. -
My Planet Ocean 45mm damaged to franken the story so far

Superb! Lovly to see my old dial put to such great use-you were great to deal with bud and the end result is something to be proud of, aint nobody gonna call you out on that not being gen! Looking forward to seeing the beater come together next! Stay cool and wear that watch like a good 'un!l -
how much for that car buddy
-
bezel edge of the 45 is like rounded teeth, 42 has coin edge, like squared off points...its very noticeable between the two when seen
-
bezel colour is correct for a 45mm, dial is correct (date window, logo etc), HE is correct...thats a genuine watch, but i would question why it has'nt got its original box and paperwork...if it was say 10 to 15 yrs old i could possibly believe the "i lost the box while moving house" line, but as the PO's aint that old i would wonder why you would pay so much for a watch and not keep those valuable items...

Yea the prices a few people have posted are in pounds not dollars, so when we've said £700 to £900 that would be what? $1000 to $1400ish... I bought mine from a great seller here in the uk 9months ago, a private shop, 2531 auto, full boxes and paperwork from 2003 for £795-was in great condition with only a few marks to the bezel. The blue ones can be found in abundunce at these prices...but remember these are the older non-coaxial versions..the newer models 2220.80 I believe? Fetch more cos they are the newer models.they have red seamaster text and coaxial movement. Personally I'm a fan of the older style model. Also the black 2254 smps were discontinued around 2006, very sought after models, and prices can climb a lot higher than the blue models-even higher than some secondhand coaxial models. You can get the new model in black but its basically the blue one with black face-the older black one had a different dial and bezel markings and looked more like the original seamaster 300 with its triangular lume markers.anyway I still think a franken of this watch isn't really worth it when used gens can be sourced for not much more cash. Finally, abit of interesting info on the blue smp hands-the hour and minute hands are skeletal versions of the ploprof hands-paying hommage to the original hardcore dive watch of the 70's where as the hands on the 2254 black watch pay hommmage to the seamaster 300 from same era...omega staying true to its own heritage there :-)

The older 2531 auto and 2541 quartz are so relativley cheap on the used market that you gotta ask if doing a franken version is worth it atall...say after gen hands and dial, new movement, crystal, crown and tube ,and cost of the rep watch..then the cost of having the work done hits £500+ then for very little more you can get a quality used gen...I've seen 2531 autos in very good condition for between 700 to 900 quid with all boxes and paperwork plus they hold their value very well...add up the costs, then shop around-i personally think frankens are cool if the watch in question is unobtainable in cost terms even secondhand, if like the seamaster it is obtainable and for as little as 100 odd quid more for a used gen then I wouldn't bother. Frankens are fun though!

As a rule of thumb, applied logos don't have happy feet, printed logos do have happy feet :-)

the 45mm in orange is a little off on alot of points compared to a gen, bezel colour, dial number colour etc and all the usual stuff with upo's like the dials date window, pearl wrong etc etc lol the best 45 is either of the black bezel variants imho...the 42mm orange bezel version on the other hand is spot on-correct date window, centered pearl, correct colour on bezel and dial numbers and lots more good stuff.. to the OP, keep it on bracelet-the genuine rubber strap is only available in black, not orange...an instant tell to anyone whos knows their watches.unless you like the full on orange look and aint fussed what people think then go for it
-
right handed, and wear mine on right arm...although i can wear a watch equally comfy on my left wrist...i also use my knife and fork the wrong way round
-
i used to also have the black bezel/orange number version in 42mm, always bugged me that i didnt go for the orange bezel though...so ended up buying the orange version instead and using the black bezel one for parts...the AR'd crystal is now in my smp chrono and movement is in the orange one, kept the hands just incase and then sold the rest. im sure the strap can be found on ebay by the way, just search 20mm black strap orange stitch and i think you can find it...you cant see in the pic very well but it has a lightly textured surface with leather back, iv worn it while swimming and shallow diving aswell as bathing and the strap doesnt hold water and dries extremely quick-its a real bargain...
-
Defo 42! Coin edge bezel and 20mm lugs :-) the strap is just a normal waterproof sports strap I found at a local market for just £8.99, black with orange stitching-dont have to pay loads to find good looking straps!
