My new vintage...
Some pics of it... still missing a decent brass mvmt spacer and a better dial with not so fat numerals.
The crystal is the "OEM" weathered and its inside border tinted with yellow acetate marker paint diluted in alcohol...
Until I get a new tall crystal that one will do just fine...
The dial has been vintageized using sugared (yellow) coffee. It looks damn fine and the pics dont do justice to the final effect and believe me the adding sugar to the coffee makes all the difference!
I am quite amazed with the quality of the work (looks like ambar filled) on the numerals of this 3646 dial.
Does anyone know how to achieve this and what kind of stuff to use?
Cheers,
Marco
PS- These are some pics of a vintage 3646 taken from Paneristi. I apologise for using them without asking for authorization.
I do not discuss the price (I respect WM work and the price he finds fair for it even if I would not buy this watch in particular for that or any other price) and much less the 99.999%.
The .0001% is what bothers me the most because unfortunatelly I consider myself in that ratio.
@Mark: Apart from the "Marshmallow dial" that watch is one of the most accurate 3646 hommages I have ever seen... and that bezel is right on!
Cheers,
Marco
Totally with you General Custer .
That mvmt is not a cal. 616 and neither has 16 lignes like the 616.
As for the shape of the case IMHO looks more like a vintage "lifebuoy" soap than a vintage 3646.
I must confess that I have seen better work by WM (this one must be earlier work).
Marco
I am totally with Swdivad.
A good compromise between the historical design and modern requirements as a GMT function and date window.
But thats only my opinion.
Oh, BTW I am game to buy one of those as soon as its rep gets out.
Please dont tell me it will occur on the place I am thinking of...
I would surely wear your 6152 and go inside in a blaze of glory... or better... your 3646!
I bet your 3646 wont go unnoticed... the worst that can happens is an invitation for you to take place on the exhibition!
BTW any news on your new bezel?
Cheers,
Marco
