Cologne is the city you will want to visit.
You will enjoy it.
Somehow I found it to have a southern comfort... very unusual for a northern city.
You wont want to miss the Museum Ludwig, the Römisch-Germanisches Museum and the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum.
Cheers,
Marco
Congratulations on your watch.
I imagine how you are enjoying it!
Mark's work is the best you can get (gold fingers and a x-tra keen eye for detail!) and it sure makes all the difference.
He actually can make a rep look like a gen (vintage or actual) and I believe we should all enjoy him as much as we can because one of this days Panerai will hijack him to work for them creating some Special Editions!
BTW could you explain me the "magic" on gREG straps? IMHO they look grotesque (sorry for that but its only my opinion on their looks and finishings)!
Enjoy that beautiful watch (but get a MF strap instead!)
Cheers,
Marco
FF you definitelly have a very exquisite taste.
Your criteria on straps is also very elegant!
Congratulations and again, thank you very much for your help.
Cheers,
Marco
Wheels are perfect as it gets...
Knowing Mark's schizofrenical condition for detail ( ) I suspect these wheels are even better than the OEM.
this may sound like a stupid thought but why dont we tip our dealers to mass order them from Mark?
This could represent a powerful improvement to their models and would be certainly easier for some of us who dont have resourceful means to get those wheels installed by a reliable third party!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Marco
The type and font / lettering couldnt be more correct... in fact I believe results are now good as they can get!
Brutal results, man...
In the meantime do not forget to drop me a letter if you get tired of it and decide to throw it away!
Grrrrrreat!
Congrats Mark. A zenith has been reached and this is a masterpiece indeed.
Rob's strap is awesome also. A perfect match for this jewel!
Marco
I wish you all a merry Christmas and a wonderful 2007!
I would like to give a special hug to Mark, Faber, Gil, Sigi, Oliver, Randy, Erdal, Kenan, Colin, "Green" Paul, Rob, Jay, Eddy, River, Andrew, Joshua, Eddie, Davidsen and Jon (wherever you are now and a bit [censored] with you)!
Marco
Please lets make 2007 a Vintage year to the forum!
You will have to be careful with the dials; I blasted 2 dials experimenting (including one from Davidsen) and they are not cheap...
Cheers,
Marco
PS - Merry Christmas and good luck with your new house!
My last adjustments and scratches and some final (and not so bad) pictures.
I think some springbars from River and a back plexi with Mark´s precious help and I will call it complete...
and I will move on to the next stop: a 2533
PS - Ross, I am waiting for some of your pics...
Thanks for your kind words guys.
I am pretty satisfied with the results... and with the process itself I must say.
I lost my fear for small mechanisms - and for non-reversibility itself! - and dedicated myself to all the tasks involved on vintageization process; case, dial and crystal.
I even discovered that I was able to disassemble and reassemble the watch...
The result is in fact comparable to the real mccoy:
(Just follow Mark's link: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=8506)
Unfortunatelly my photo skills are bad as they can be...
Next project will be a 2533!
Cheers,
Marco
Hi Oliver,
Your generosity is always remarkable and I really appreciate your help. You sure are a Christmas Spirit...
Meanwhile I asked my watchsmith to have one spacer specially tailored for this case.
If the results turn out bad I will not hesitate asking for your help.
As always I thank you for the care you always dedicate and hope I can retribute.
Wish you the best my friend and merry Christmas!
Marco
pannylovernr1: I will post later some tips on my "amateurish" vintageizing process.
