  1. The numbers simply mean the number of jewelled bearings in the movt. The difference between 15 and 17 jewels in relation to the Cortebert you have are with the centre wheel (the gold gear wheel in the centre) which in a 15j version will usually have a brass bearing in the top and bottom plates instead of a jewel.

Do we know the cortebert will not fit the case you have sent me?

The watchsmith gave me his opinion on a RXW case.

He said it would give him too much work to get it fitted on it.

On the other hand this movement is the basis for the molnjina ones so I think it should have the same measures and fit. But he´s the professional not me... :)

I dont know if it fits the 3646 I sent you but I can measure it or take some pictures to show you.

    Cheers,

    M.

  2. There is an old Zen saying "when the student is ready the teacher appears" I would put the movement away for a while and wait, eventually some case will come along that will work.....of course,,,,,,,what do I know after a bottle of chianti.....

Right now I would swap that bottle of chianti for the damn mvmt!

Hope I will get some good use for it. One thing I can assure the little b***rd is gorgeous and very well finished!

BTW can someone explain me the difference between a 15 and a 17 jewel movement?

    Cheers,

    M.

  3. Nice aquisition! It´s a beautiful movement.

Question is: what will you do with it?

Last weekend I bought myself a cortébert cal. 616 on the local flea market (not for 0.99 but cheap).

After 2 days of rejoice I took it last Monday to my watchsmith who told me that it would be very difficult to fit it into a RWX case so now I dont know what to do with it!!!!

I wish you better luck with yours!

  4. @sevomd: I am using Firefox and IE, and they are both unable to connect to RWI on my PC.

And, as I already said, this is a recent problem. I had no problem until some time ago.

    Same problem here!!!

No problem acessing RWI at the office but here at my house unfortunatelly Is not possible.

And I really miss Enzo's instructive posts.

  5. The 45mm Radiomir case offers the advantages of removable lugs for fitting a spectacular strap and a display back for watching all those little wheels go 'round and round....

I'm persuaded that someone is going to figure out that a sizable market exists for this with the three Vintage (California, 2533 and 3646) dials.

  6. ... I would really wanted to put the movement in a vintage Pam case...

    Hi V,

Do not avaliate the possibility just for the looks on the case.

You have to ask a professional if that is possible.

Luckily I found myself a vintage Cortébert Pocket Watch this morning (now under repair because the spring wheel was loose) with a cal.616 movement.

The case is bigger than the vintage 3646 but the movement is the one that was "copied" by rolex to equip the original 3646.

Even so I think some adjustments have to be made on the case to accomodate that movement.

I suppose our 3646 rep cases dont have the same measures as the real mccoys...

    Cheers,

    M.

  7. I got into watches years ago first with some pretty contempory things like a seamaster and tag, then it was panerai but on the contemporary side, now I'm pulled more and more into older and older watches, right now WM's watches, the MM20 and anything that looks like the Pam 6152 (these are all pams but I'm sure Rolex and other brands have their own versions of comtempory vs vintage). At this point, I'm not sure I'll ever get into a modern looking watch again.......anyone ever recover from this?

I even find myself wanting a plexiglass crystal over sappire. Now that is strange.
