  1. Second that, If that doesn't work, contact Andrew for advise. You might need to send it back for repair, however beware that could take a long time with the shipping.
  2. Wow, this is fast good news. TTK is the man
  3. I think someone just stole Ubi's daytona...
  4. Always enjoy reading these movement reviews, great stuff!
  5. Thanks Joe, I imagine you must have tons of parts that must be laying around your house Any fun projects going on with them?
  6. Very nice improvement w/ the dial Now you got a perfect pair of Daytonas, Congrats!
  7. I love the DRSD, one cool watch you have there. Sweet!
  8. can ... not ... wait... must ... be ... calm....
  9. Good lume on these hands: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1 compared to the wholesaleotlet ones, minute hand also look better at its pointed edge
  10. I don't see the problem, underground dealers and forums will always find a way to get around. Paypal can be replaced by Mooneybookers, and forums can change to other offshore servers When there's a will there's a way
  11. Just had a pm from Silix, hope Silix will forgive me when I post it here but I think it is of interest to us all: Silix: "Sorry for coming backt o u late. Just came back from the long holiday the other day. It will take at one and ahalf month, if we want to biulf the watches from scratch. If we could find the factory who manufactured the previous watch parts, the job would be much easier. Now most of watch factories are back from tom. I am getting on it now. We will bring out the swiss movement Casino Royale in a week or two. And will start on a new brand soon. I forsee a fruitful year for us. And these watches will be sold all exclusively by us. Nice day."
  12. That's a good Ebay seller, great find of the GMT bezel by-Tor. The 16610 insert is good, but far from accurate to the gen I think. If anybody wants I can post comparison pictures
  13. Looks great Tribal! Is the lume good on the hands as well? If not, try the ebay seller Nostalgia.. something for his Tudor hands. I can look it up Please tell me more about the insert
  14. There's a forum there which has some kinda funny posts like: "Is my wrist too thin to wear a Submariner?" http://www.wwrforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=508 Panerai owners going to love that
  15. Excellent Daytonas from the Daytona King!!
  16. Never owned a seadweller so I wouldn't know (if this question was for me). MBW watches are the top of the reps I think. Had a message from Trusty saying his 1:1 top grade range are going out of production, for those who are interested in them reps.
  17. Of course MBW is better overall rep-base but I think it's maybe good to start out with a cheaper rep to practice on. I don't think it's hard for anyone to do the mods themselves but there are some tricky things: Drilling lugholes, drills can brake and get stuck in the case and even drilling can be off-centered. (Use new cobolt drills, high speed, oil, cool off periods) Rep tube can fracture at removal if not heated first. Gen tubes can crack when inserted if threads not cleaned with tap first) Countersinking for crown tube can be to much causing a defect on the back of the case next to the tube. Fitting crystal retaining ring can cause crystal to crack if not evenly pressed. Ring might also need inner trim. Water leakage if not using o-ring under crystal and glue. Hands removal could give marks on dial if not protecting dial with sheet of thin plastic Crown stem removal with something less than a screwdriver 1mm can cause movement to jam. Crown stem cutting to right length could easily be done to much, whopsie need another stem, 1 week delivery time Dial painting needs some practice to get good, very easy to permantely ruin that dial trying to remove excess paint The list could go on with stuff causing headaches and of course I've never encountered these problems (haha that's a lie ) What I mean is that maybe it's best to practice these things first on some maybe pre-owned vintage cheap rep before hitting the MBW. (Unless one doesn't care about money and by a six-pack of MBWs to practice on ) However, I think TTK is doing a great thing for us trying to supply MBWs at a resonable price for us, and since everybody knows it's hard to get them I wouldn't hesitate a second to put myself on the list for at least one of those too.
  18. Wow, they do celebrate New years a long time in China. Where I live we only celebrate New years eve and the day after (hangover day)
  19. It's really the only 5513 aftermarket insert I've found that's made for the gen luminous dot and not the larger pearl
  20. Thanks! cwp = http://classicwatchparts.com/ They offer some pretty nice stuff for vintages, good alternative if the gen parts are too expensive or can't be found If anyone's interested I liked the result with the dial with using some ash on a q-tip to just touch the dial markers before the paint sets. A clean q-tip cleans of excess ash after the paint has set. Can't really see it very well on the pics, but it gives a more grey/darker area in some dial marker areas which gives a vintage appearence.
  21. If you don't plan to mod your vintage extensively I don't think buying a MBW is worth it. If you don't want to spend 450$ on an MBW, don't plan to re-sell it and are happy with not getting it 99.9% correct you can go for the Trustys 1:1 top grade collection like the 1680. Good stuff: takes genuine crystals 127 19 (or aftermarkets like Clarks), tube, crown, bezel (aftermarket crystal retaining ring can be fitted to get rid of the spring bezel). Bad stuff: spring in bezel, no slot for dial and also gen dials are too smal to fit. So in my view, if you want a decent cheap replica for 188$, don't mind painting the dial yourself and maybe fit a better crystal and crown/tube and in total don't want to spend more than 350$ in total on a rep you can get something like this: Willing to spend more than 1000$ (or 2000$ with a gen movement) you can get something like this:
