  1. I'm in the process of obtaining a semi mount or an engagement ring but need to get a center stone. The diamonds & prices at the jeweler I'm working with seem to be over priced plus I don't like their selection. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to look for loose stones. A trusted dealer??? I'm in SoCal. Thanks
  2. I'm going to have to agree with the 2 previous posts. TW Classic is best out there right now. I had a cn sub and sold it. TW classic with a few mods and you'll have it for ever...at least you should.
  3. All I mean by my comment is that I, along with most others, are quite aware of the flaws with this rep. I know about the case, bezel, and HEV. I started this thread because I was curious about the HEV and wanted to know more. I know it's wrong and I also know it's a rep...I'm fine with the case thickness and bezel, and if I have too, I'll live with the HEV. I know it's not exact but I do know that the tw best sd is the best that's out there at the moment so...
  4. Thank you for your insight...you're the best as is your sd.
  5. This is really my only option...IMO I want to keep the sd I have now but also want a correct HEV. I'm not quite sure if the HEV can be taken out or not. Does anyone know how it's attached?
  6. Considering the level of vanity that goes along with collecting reps, who are we to judge folks who wear their watches to the gym. If wearing a watch to the gym or while you partake in physical activities is not your style, cool. But I can think of a lot less appropriate places I've worn my watches and if I had it my way I'd have 5 wrists for my 5 reps and never take them off. Ever!
  7. Different strokes for different folks...if wearing a sports watch (whether it be a casio, sub, whatever) to the gym is any more ridiculous than wearing it to the office, then I think I missed something. Some folks, myself included, cannot wear a watch while playing golf...it f$#%ks up my swing but do you think I give a rats ass if anybody else does. That being said, I do appreciate everybody giving their insight. This is great.
  8. These are all good points...I would have never considered wearing my watch to the gym except to break in the strap. For myself, I think a little sweat is good for a stiff new strap and certainly helped to break mine in. I don't really bang my watch up cause usually I'm just lifting weights but I definitely wouldn't partake in any contact sports with one on. I truly think (and I'm guilty too) that folks who wear expensive watches to the gym do so partly to show them off. It's a chance to get them out from under the shirt cuff and really enjoy them. Granted, wearing a dress watch would be odd but I don't think think it's that crazy to wear a sport model like a sub or pam sub. Now doing heavy duty yard work or mechanical work is another story.
  9. Yeah I've hit my 024 a few times but luckily, no dings or scratches...but to be honest, I wouldn't mind a few...give it a little character perhaps I can't work out with a steel bracelet though...it just doesn't feel very good on my wrist.
  10. I ran a 8.2 mile race down here in SD yesterday and when I left my house in the early am, I threw on my 127 so I could have it later in the day. Well, I got on the shuttle that took us to the starting line and realized I forgot to take it off (wasn't even wound yet and the time is wrong)...so I ran the entire race with it on and rather enjoyed it. This is a pic just before I got on the shuttle... I've worked out a couple times with my 24 on cuz I wanted to break in a new strap but other than that, I generally don't work out wearing a watch. Many other people at my gym do though and one day this guy noticed my 24 and was really admiring it. He was wearing a DOXA diver and said he owned 20+ other watches including a Pam Sub, Lum Mar, Rollie Sub, etc. He looked right at it up close and didn't notice it was a rep. Damn these things are good. Does anyone on the forum have a favorite watch they like to work out in? Just curious.
  11. Well I have yet to see any other credible site selling gens with adds for reps popping up. I'm not saying they don't exist, I just haven't seen them.
  12. IMO, it would be cheaper and less of a hassle to just realign the marker yourself. I'm pretty sure they're glued on but check with the experts here to be sure. And there are tons of better inserts...just keep looking. But once you get the insert (if it is decent) the bottom and sides of it will have to be sanded down which is a bit of a project...good luck.
  13. Not sure whether the case is fake or not but I think the vintage sd's did have HEV's like the one shown in your pic
  14. That looks to be the correct size and shape of the modern valve but the color seems a bit off. Shouldn't it be less ss like and more gun metal grey?
  15. I was just curious to know if this version of the HEV ever existed on the gen SD or is it just a fantasy valve. I know the modern SD reps have the HEV correct but the classic TW SD's seem to only have this version. I've searched all over the net but was unable to find a concrete answer. Can any of our Rollie experts help me out. Thanks
  16. I guess I was trying to say that the TRL is of no importance...IMO
  17. I would very much so doubt the integrity of this site...since it has links to $300 Rolex subs...Check it out.
  18. This is a very nice rep...with regards to the TRL, and experts correct me if I'm wrong, it is a part of the hologram sticker, which on the gens, covers the whole case back...not just the top of the case back like on our reps. A friend of mine pulled his sticker off of his gen sub and it's diameter is much wider than just the top portion of the case back...IOW, just the part that the green sticker covers...Pull off the hologram...PROBLEM SOLVED! This rep is very close...the biggest eye catching flaw for me is the crystal height.
  19. I'm pretty sure Roger is the name of the guy at watchmaker9. From what I read over at trc, Roger and River used to be partners back in the day, then they had a falling out of sorts. The stock from watchmaker is solid though. I got the SD from a fellow member and it originally came from Roger a couple years ago. This rep is great, nice and thick...it feels solid on my wrist. The only flaw that bugs me is the date font...and the dial printing is a little week but this is one of the few sd's with the correct caseback thickness and pretty damn near close crystal height. These are the 2 main flaws that plague the current stock of sd's.
  20. I had one too but sold it because the flaws bugged me. The swiss made of course was not spaced evenly. The V and the VII should be equidistant from the VI with the swiss made spaced evenly beneath these. Also the dial is textured which is the biggest flaw in my opinion. And of course the strap. But over all it was a nice strap with a nice feel. When a better, more accurate version comes out I will definitely be getting one.
  21. Thanks for all who posted lol. Got it straightened out myself. Will post a full review in the next day or two.
