  1. Tip for closing the gap between the strap and the case on the PO - try using thicker springbars. They might be a tight fit through the holes in the band but they'll make the difference! And I never thought I'd say this, but the swirly dial SMP is starting to grow on me.......
  2. Already being discussed here and here. Tip: please post brand specific posts in the designated section to avoid further repition.
  3. Thanks for the bezel removal tip! I have exactly the same problem with my pearl to the extent that it arrived with the glass cracked Some dealer pics show the pearl with the glass missing!!! I've just decided to go with the option of replacing the whole insert.
  4. Hear here! I expressed my concerns WRT the new uPO with a variation of this movement. At least in that case the glaring omission of the microregulator is a giveaway. It was just about a year ago when the Asian 'Unitas' 6497 copy appeared, replicating the beat of the -2 Swiss version and bettering the -1 version we were used to in reps. The dealers trumpeted it as a 'Swiss' movement and advertised it accordingly. At least this time that is not happening, but there's still massive room for confusion. I welcome the appearance of these movements, especially if they prove as reliable as their 21J Miyota based predecessors and do indeed show a high degree of interchangeability with ETA movements. That, though, remains to be seen.
  5. I think it's a no-brainer! How many other watches use this module though? How many of them would be popular enough to rep and justify the creation of the module? It's a development I'd love to see happen though.
  6. The 7753 would be an easier movement to replicate, especially as something else so similar (7750) has already been done, and a lot of the base parts are the same!! Trouble is, as with many things in life, once a bodged solution is produced that enough people are prepared to live with then there is no incentive to improve on it. The transfer gears exist, so they are going to get used - even if someone has since taken the time to refine them a bit (as per the latest Navitimers!) It's the El Primero I want to see repped though as it would open the door to a huge seam of accurate reps of desirable watches... TAG Monza/Calbre 36, vintage Daytonas, PO Chrono etc. etc. etc.....
  7. Cosuins aren't buying them at any price at the moment as they can't get stock! This is the second sign I have seen that supplies of these movements are starting to be restricted. It would appear though that some people still have stockpiles.
  8. Depends on who you buy your 'ultimate' from. I got mine with ETA marked 2824 (I checked - microregulator and everything!!) for $25 more than this fake of a fake. Admittedly that was a special price because mine had a damaged pearl and I negotiated a discount, but still. This does seem like a good way to get hold of a uPO for a project, but if you just want a wearer I'd be waiting to find out more about the provenance of this movement as it is the first time I (and I am sure others) have seen it, especially when an already assembled ETA version can be had elsewhere for not much more. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I see this release as an attempt to divert attention from the fact that Trusty/Josh overpriced their ETA uPO.
  9. No. He said TAG Chrono, but the thread drifted.....
  10. Neither was I until I got my Seawolf, but in SS it would be unwearable as it is HUGE!! Lovely item launchnukes. As an avid Omega fan I'm jealous!
  11. They haven't upped the rate. That is someone's interpretation of what the movement is ie. an 'uprated' version of the 21J Miyota copy, which it isn't. The 2892 was cloned (ST-18) and the clone had the same beat as the original too.
  12. Well, Klink said it would happen....! I don't have a problem with it (and never have), as long as we don't get a repeat of the early days of the Asian 6497 when some of our dealers tried to pass them off as bargain Swiss....
  13. The older design of SMP dial print must have lasted the best part of 10 years before they changed it!!
  14. An interesting yet at the same time worrying development. From the (one) picture of the movement it looks like a cheapened 2824 clone (microregulator has gone, for example) and NOT the Miyota clone or genuine Seagull movement we expect to see when someone says 'Asian'. How many of us who have received Ultimate POs recently are now tempted to pop the caseback and anti-mag core to see what's under there??!!
  15. Some people will buy anything. For example. Or. And even....
  16. I know we've done this discussion before, but I am interested in purchasing replica FRAMES only as my intention is to have lenses (prescription) fitted separately, so no issues of cheap crap lenses and lack of UV filtering. Does anyone know of any suppliers???
  17. I was thinking that myself. This guy is trying to have a laugh at the expense of those who mod rep watches. Probably some interloper from a gen watch forum who gets all uppity and sanctimonious at the thought of reps.
  18. What? Me, or the cigar?! More likely rolled off a production line though...
  19. As someone who enjoys the occasional cigar (despite living in a nanny-know-best politically correct state) I want one of these now.
  20. I'm jealous! A very understated piece with a cult following! Hope you can get the bezel to lume properly
  21. The '2892' found in reps is almost invariably a Seagull ST-18 movement and not in fact an ETA 2892, so who knows?
  22. I went over and had a look. The bezel and insert come ready assembled, which means money spent on a part you don't need if all you are doing is trying to make the insert look more authentic. The ultimate PO rep insert (if you get a properly assembled one) does look incredibly accurate, and I think changing it for a gen is money wasted. (PS. OFrei show the same picture for the two different sizes of black bezel, which is confusing at best!!)
