  1. ....yet wonderous lightness. It's what titanium was invented for
  2. Then gen dial is identical in size to the rep. It is just the added inner bezel ring that is slightly shallower. The ring is attached to the dial by four little posts that match up to holes perfectly on both dials so the swap is a piece of cake - no need to remove the dial and hands from the movement.
  3. Nope! This effect is as a result of the genuine crystal being massively thick!! 3000m depth capability requires it. The rep has a crystal that is the same thickness as that used on the Chrono Avenger gen, so knock a zero off the end. In this respect the caseback is accurate PS. To solve the problem of the gap between the inner bezel ring and the rep crystal just swap the one from your rep dial. I can assure you it is a perfect fit, and thanks to the good AR effect - no-one will ever notice
  4. Indeed, although why do you sound so surprised. As I say - some dealers do not treat us like fair game for a bit of 'non-disclosure' to see what they can get away with. It all comes down to how they want to do business, and how they want to be perceived by the customer.
  5. No bad thing in the current climate, but why did it have to happen? We've come a long way even in just the time I've been here (and over in the old place), but this was definitely a case of dealers shitting on their own doorstep, and we are all going to be more careful about where we step in future. A step backward IMO.
  6. This would be all well and good if it weren't for the fact that there are dealers who do not misrepresent their goods from the outset, do not wait for someone to notice before 'fessing up, and do not treat us like a bunch of happy mugs and so called 'experts'. Neither do I actually. For me personally, Trusty's reputation withered with the '7750, oops sorry, Swiss quartz' Breitling which actually had a Citizen movement in it, then died with the rusty Planet Oceans with straps that didn't fit and never fitted. I'm just watching it rot in public now. I never bought from Josh, but it looks to me he fell into bad company.
  7. I do have to do some work once in a while.......
  8. There's no definitive answer as to which Sub(s) were worn. Lots of info here. With regards to replicating it, the best starting point would have been one of the Silix CG'less vintage subs (none were 100% correct in all details but the cases were good), but sadly they are all now 'out of production'.
  9. Pleased to know it. I don't imagine tears are being shed at Trusty HQ over the loss of one customer out of 'those suckers' at RWG (I thought the "experts" jibe was particularly telling, as if to say 'what do you guys really know...'), but I'll keep buying watches, so I hope they remember that my money is still good and they aren't seeing any of it.
  10. Unsatisfactory. But, as my long post in the 'little white lies' thread has pointed out, I had already voted some time ago with my wallet. The mis-representations and sleekit behaviour are not a recent phenomenon. I'll seek the watch elsewhere or go without rather than buy again from Trusty, and this 'wormy' response only re-inforces my decision. This was a time for gestures, not excuses.
  11. WTF is that??!! Dr. Frankenstien would be proud of that.
  12. They've finally managed to licence the Gulf colours for the Monaco (should really be called Le Mans, but anyway...) rather than just parodying them.
  13. When I saw this thread's latest contributor was JTB, I was expecting to find some helpful post about increasing one's wrist size. (Runs for the door.......)
  14. That's a bit patronising! This has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not someone has owned a gen. I have a rep Breitling Seawolf with a double AR coated crystal, which a fellow board member has described as indistinguishable from that fitted to the genuine as he has owned both!! Plus, the gens you are talking about don't have it, so the 'genuine spec' argument is irrelevant. Double AR coating is both a matter of taste and a rather silly development (covering an almost scratch-proof crystal with a relatively more vulnerable coating). Owners of genuine POs are actually removing the outside AR - usually after it has taken a knock and scratched. I know exactly why you want to do it, but IMO its a situation where the practical pitfalls outweigh the visual benefits. It is overkill for the sake of vanity and makes the watch more vulnerable to appear 'damaged'. The analogy with aftermarket tinted auto windows is a good one - sure they look 'cool' in some peoples' eyes, but it's just a plastic film that is vulnerable to scratching.
  15. Well said MB. I am starting to wonder what the heck is with this obsession with 'visible' AR coating to the extent that people want to risk ruining their gens by adding it. Is it pushing the same buttons in some people as pimp-limo tinted windows on their cars, I wonder??!! It is about time people stopped assuming that AR=purple/blue tint=good. What next - adding bling stones to the bezels, perhaps?!?!
  16. Did someone say Oris.. Oh, sorry. My bad.
  17. 082 Amerigo Vespucci!!!! For a million reasons I now HAVE to get one of those.....
  18. In theory it should be rock solid! Most people who have had trouble with unmodified Asian 7750 have either had trouble with the chrono not functioning or the hour counter continuing to run when the chrono is stopped. Since both functions will have been disabled or removed already on the watches you describe.......
  19. You beat me to it! A silicone based non-abrasive car wax applied regularly to the watch band will extend the longevity of the plating considerably. It is amazing how tough these silicone coatings are - my local coachworks curses them as they have to be stripped off car panels with some pretty aggressive chemicals because if they don't then new paint will not adhere.
  20. As ND said, it is a 'my word against his' situation, so stalement in terms of a resolution. It comes down to goodwill and trust to move forward, and that is what is lacking. The dealer 'may' be better off to the tune of $620, but that's another group of customers lost.....
  21. Good hint! I was a bit more blatant about it. What we have established is that a certain two dealers have been pushing the envelope a bit with their business practices. There are now enough documented experiences of buyers here to suggest an element of reasonable doubt as to their utter honesty and 'trustworthiness'. PS. The point has been made in this thread. I think it is now time to sit back and wait. Silence will speak volumes...
  22. Good luck to you! From the information we have (ie. dealer pictures) the watch has the same case, band, face, hands, bezel with pearl. etc. etc. as the 'ultimate' with ETA. However, we have since established that certain dealer information can be inconsistent with what you actually receive. IF you do receive an 'ultimate' with just a cheaper movement at least you have the insurance that a proper ETA 2824 can be sourced and substituted at a later date. My advice would be source an ETA one from another dealer and negotiate the price. I managed to snag one for only $30 more than TT/Josh are selling their new 'ETA ringer' for....
  23. I've always considered the 'Perfect Sub' with full service [censored] to be the equivalent of a car salesman boosting the profits by overpricing the addition of 'Supaguard' waxing, underbody treatment, mats, etc. etc. etc. Do some people still get taken in by such rubbish? Those'll be the same Swiss lubricants and Swiss trained technicians that came along with the Swiss Asian movements?!
