  1. The PO bezels from OFrei were for the 42mm if I recall correctly?!
  2. "And here's a list of ten reasons why you should buy from him" Absolutely brilliant!
  3. Actually - the idea of having just a Bond-themed caseback appeals to me! Oh, and it is only the second hand on the Bond PO that is different.
  4. So that'll be them then - all fixed, eh?! One good result and Mr. Murray is a genius, Watty is the Good Lord re-incarnate (if Durrant had been true to his words last weekend, the Good Lord's intervention would have been required), and the prodigal son Ferguson is unconditionally forgiven.....
  5. As a collection piece I'd have on in a minute, but I'd never wear it as it is far too cheesey!
  6. I don't have this concern as I live round the corner from my local Post Office parcel depot. I just hope they don't close it.
  7. There is no rhyme or reason to the availability or cost of these transfers, so it is definitely worth a bit of investigation by each of us to see what is available to them. My bank charges £25 flat rate for international transfer, but transfer within the EU is not classed as international and is therefor free?! Other banks don't levey a charge at all. Some, if you perform the transfer to a bank in the same group or a partnering bank, will treat the transfer as a domestic one even if the account holder is in another country.
  8. Aye, and you passed it on to John ya begger Me, on the other hand, with my hardier Latin backgrounds (accustomed to living the peasant life, you see) managed to fend it off. Or maybe it is just because I am younger than your 45-55 years Anyway, I genuinely didn't want to be hassling you about the Railmaster as I knew already you didn't have your troubles to seek (plus I have my own hassles regarding another watch and another member of this forum that I wanted resolved), but pick me up one with the same top-class lume as your own next time you make it out to BK and rest assured I'll NoChex ya! Get well soon, and Noli nothis permittere te terere. PS. My bank (HBOS) charges £25 for IBAN!!!!!
  9. Maybe... but I'd swap the dial from my standard SMP.....
  10. I disagree. There's no-one here into Bond more than me (except perhaps docblackrock )and I'm not particularly taken by buying the special edition watches over the standard counterparts, but that is because I want the watches worn in the movies.
  11. Yup. That's a well worn path. Plenty info already on here about it.
  12. The problem with an A7750 based version of this is that there is plenty that can (and does) go wrong with the basic movement before you even think about the stresses of adding the 11 transfer gears required to shift those dials around the place. Good luck to ya....
  13. Ahhh - the hollow pearl problem! I suspect I know why. These reps (the SMP chrono and ultimate PO) should have a little circular sliver of glass placed over the lume in the pearl to make it flush with the bezel - just like the gen. I have seen pictures from dealers and owners that show some of the watches are missing this piece of glass - either it has fallen out or not been put there in the first place. The reason I know it is glass is because my uPO's pearl has the glass but it is cracked...
  14. Well, the prices for these movements have already doubled in the UK, when supplies are available. Cousins currently have no stock whereas in the past supply from them was never an issue. Maybe you've got them all?
  15. That did occur to me too, but Swatch group are happy to continue to supply movements in quantity to companies making and selling complete watches, and Gruen are well established customers. It is just the spares market (and rep makers they hope) that is going to be starved.
  16. Used movements.... "corroded cases".... Plus I don't need a job lot, so I'm not in a position to exploit economy of scale. One 'new' movement for just over half the going rate, plus comeback if it is DOA sounds pretty good to me....
  17. In the UK at least, watch part suppliers are either already suffering from the impending withdrawal of ETA movements from the aftermarket or are keen to capitalise from the threat of such a withdrawal. As a result prices have doubled for replacement movements in the past few months so that it is now difficult to find an ETA 2824/2836 movement for under £45/$88 including delivery. Therefor I intend to resort to cannibalism.
  18. At the moment no-one knows. When someone does they'll post about it. Best bet is to keep looking in the Silix section of the dealer forum.....
  19. I've bought from both dealers. All pieces bought from Paul were flawless so no need to test the aftersales service. My experiences with Andrew are documented elsewhere on this forum, but to summarize the first piece came disassembled because there was no way the bits would fit together, plus the movement was corroded. A second piece was delivered FOC that accepted the supplied strap, but that movement too needed work (which I completed myself) to make it acceptable. I wouldn't buy from either now, though, while Silix are around as generally they can match the prices of wo-mart and beat Trusty for after sales care. If they don't list an item - ask. 99.9% of the time they'll get it. My main concern here is the choice of watch. High chance of failure with low chance of successful repair....
  20. Most critical flaw of this model has been overlooked here - wrong lug-gap width!
