  1. I agree the plain 2824 based TAG Link is probably slightly better than the chrono version, but it's nothing a datewheel swap on the 7750 model can't cure. No longer current, but the Breitling Seawolf is also supremely accurate - down to the decoration on the movement. Put a genuine dial on and from the front you can't tell. Shame about the use of the chrono avenger caseback...

    Wow !

So, who has the best 'who has the best Sub?' asking post?! I would have said Brian until he started his character assasinations....
  3. Fair enough, but Mog went on to talk about the PAM 090 rep and my info relates to the specific movement used in that watch. TBH I wasn't aware of the PR movement with the layout you show. A little knowledge and all that.....
  4. Beat me to it! If the '7753' is in fact the 7750 with the transfer gears then I'll pass.....

    Bond

There's piles and piles of info about this rep already contained within these boards, including sales by members of the earlier models that have been snapped up by rep collectors because of their superior detail. Take your cue from that!
  6. Yup. Isn't it ironic that this watch would be a better rep visually if they popped one of the Asian 21J Miyota movements into it...
  7. A little knowledge, and all that.... The 'Asian 21J' movement in question for power reserve reps IS the Seagull ST-25 which is a modified version of the ST-18 which is a blatant rip-off of the ETA2892 - so blatant that dealers here sell have sold them as 2892s and buyers here happily purchase them. There have been unconfirmed reports that the ST-18 is the result of a (terminated) licence agreement to build ETA parts in China. The ST-18 isn't constructed as well (some rivets used instead of screws), but as Marickville Boy discovered - the parts are almost fully interchangeable. The ST-25 has a slightly different bridge arrangement and the power reserve module, but otherwise it is 'a copy' of the 2892 with Soprod PR. The ETA2892-A2 is just a variant of the 2892 and doesn't have power reserve function as standard. Asian 21J means no more than Swiss 25J (ie. you can't tie that description down to any specific movement).
  8. Errrr. Nope! PS. That looks a bit too much like baton twirling to me....
  9. I think he upgraded to IE7 today......
  10. I agree wholeheartedly. The thread title is wrong as it would never win the poll, but it could win in the authenticity stakes and (therefor?) in the market, which ultimately is what really matters. At the end of the day a watch will initially sell here if it is a good price and there are some damn good pictures of it posted up. It will continue to sell and will win over potential buyers if somone then posts a review of it stating how accurate a rep it is.
  11. Acquired wisdom was that these were produced in limited numbers for the Asian market.
  12. Pint of what he's drinking please, barman....
  13. I was thinking that too. Basically it comes down to nobody wanting to admit they scrimped when purchasing reps for their significant other (despite someone in here recently posting a picture of two hands lovingly clasped together travelling on an aircraft. The female wrist was sporting an Asian 21j 40mm PAM rep........) I can't help you as just about every watch my missus has is quartz coz she prefers them that way....
  14. I'd deny all knowledge of the contents of the unsolicited package, and claim I'd never heard of the sender in my life.
  15. No bids, thank God. Hope it stays that way. Can you imagine someone buying that thinking 'that would make a great Christmas gift'?! Really ruin someone's 25th of December......
  16. Switzerland - strange place and strange people. The only place (from Gorbals to Naples) that anyone has tried to steal my father's car (Audi A8).
  17. What is there not to like?! Ticks all the boxes for the objective types who 'need' Swiss movements, and utterly unique in style and concept (sapphire crystal retainer is a fantastic idea - the sillhouette shot is stunning). I love it.....
  18. Ahhh. So NOW we late-to-the-party folk know where you got your inspiration from. When can we expect another 'tested to destruction' pictorial special?!
  19. It's not even one of the good reps. Pleased to read that two previous 'winning bidders' have spotted the scam 'Swiss Quartz Movement'??!!
  20. I posted this tip with regards to the TAG Link bracelet some months ago. Generic watch parts are used across reps and gens, so I am not surprised the same fix worked for this model. I advise all owners of watches that use screws anywhere in the band (rep or gen) to take the time to remove each screw and threadlock it in. If you do you will never thank me for it. If you don't you'll live to regret it....
  21. He knows if I've been bad or good, plus he's had my list for a long time now.......
  22. I'll wait and see what you've got in that big case of yours when I see you
  23. Got round to me in the end (and the news was good!!) Once again Silix do the biz. They ain't high profile, they don't shout their mouths off, but Jay and Angel are dealers par excellence.
  24. I didn't think I needed to justify mine. Big watch, not too weird looking, complies with the movement limitations (exceptionally well), the genuine is a feasible buy as a design buck, plus it sells exceptionally well in Japan due to the F1 connection so it will have a good market outside our little clique.... Bugger it, I'll just buy a gen.....
  25. I did, yesterday. I'll give them a couple more days...
