  1. There are some fantastic deals to be had on the Brosnan era non Co-Axial SMP at the moment, even if the window prices haven't fallen As for the 45mm/22mm black PO, the minute someone reps the 22mm rubber strap or starts selling the genuine straps for something less than complete rip-off prices ($300!!) I'm there. In the meantime my lightly modded Asian 45mm/20mm from Trusty is serving me very well - what is the point in buying the ETA version with rubber strap when it has a poorer dial (oversized Omega logo) and the exact same everything else?!
  2. All very true, but is it a case of the public wants what the public gets or the other way around?! Its all well and good to blame the media for fuelling a bandwagon, but something has to set it rolling, and precisely the same tactics brought the outgoing lot into power in the first place.
  3. There's nothing wrong with a little product placement, but I actually think Omega are killing the golden goose with all these '007' special editions. The first one (40th Anniversary model SMP with 007 replacing Seamaster waves, 007 applique on dial and the gunbarrel caseback) was borderline tacky. The gunbarrel face Co-Axial SMP was overwhelmingly voted the ugliest watch most of us had seen, and this is just a parts bin special (the second hand in particular). I do however suspect it is not for real. If you want to know what overdoing the 007 connections can do for your credibility, try a google search for 'OK Connery'... Edit: The CR Ltd Edition PO is for real, unfortunately..... 007 PO
  4. Oh, and don't take the stem out if you can avoid it as getting it back in is sometimes a complete strip down job...
  5. OK, what is it we are supposed to do now?! Figure which are rep and which are gen?
  6. Nothing more to be said than that!
  7. I first saw these when they were posted up on old RWG. Brilliant reference - reading these taught me most of what I know about ETA 28xx movements (before I actually got my hands dirty on them..)
  8. If it's the SMP with the gen Calibre 1120 fitted, I'll track her down for you.......
  9. Errr, no. The pins used aren't the usual interference fit split pins you find on cheap watches. They are in fact hi-tensile steel and are held in place by sleeves within the bracelet links so that the links move freely without the inherent risk you get with screws that can work loose or need lubricated to free up. Even if you could obtain a set of the pins and sleeves there would be no way for the rep bracelet to be able to hold on to them.
  10. Jay's stock is long gone.
  11. Unused, of course.....
  12. Is it co-incidence that next month is December? Pants, hankies and socks supplied courtesy of JTB's maiden aunty's reject Christmas presents....
  13. NO! The lottery is on after the 10 o'clock news....
  14. Is too much choice worse than not enough?! @ubi - the Seawolf is as big as her! @nanuq - if I tell my wife what you said then Mrs Nanuq may have a rival for your affections I think one of the Omega Quadrella Constellations is going to win the day. Classy, yet understated.

An abject lesson on why you should NEVER let your web browser retain passwords....
  16. @JTB - Who's got the Hermes (and can I rely on them to ship by Christmas? ) @tallkenny - quote from Jay... "The GUCS002 lady is about 19.3cm in circle, including the case" @mkm - you have very similar tastes to my better half. The Cartier is already part of her collection She did once say she liked the look of the Constellation too...
  17. This has been asked before, but my criteria is particular. I'm looking for a watch for my wife, but something that isn't just a shrunken version of a gents' style. She's petite, so the 'PAMs look great on women' thing just isn't going to work as she'll be dragging the thing behind her. What she likes, and what I am looking for, is something that doesn't look like a watch, but a bangle.. I did enquire with Jay about this, but the band is not adjustable and will be too large for her (the genuine comes in two different band sizes, the rep is only available in the larger of the two). Any suggestions guys? (oh, and no 'bling')
  18. Youtube is a filtered site here....
  19. I popped over for a look earlier. Its a wasteland. (They'll probably be wondering why their hit count took a small blip up today!)
  20. The first watch you show is theoretically an older generation replica as it was available a few months before the second was released. Although of a slightly different model of watch it does have a few more flaw. Most noticeable is the completely whacky date font!!
  21. You've had a long wait to find out - hope it was worth it. Either way you will love the movie. It's got everything... locations, action, tension, drama, tragedy, and without a doubt the best actor ever to play the role. Anyone saying Connery is still the best after this is a nostalgic idiot.
  22. Firefox can be a bit scatty with java scripts, plus some pages don't format properly. IE7 I have found is as slow as [censored] coming out the neck of a bottle on a cold day. It is just more MS bloatware.
  23. The ST-18 is a clone of the ETA 2892 and differs from it in one way only ie. the mainspring is wound in the opposite direction. I strongly suspect that Seagull and Sellita openly make and distribute movements that are SO so close to ETA designs with one or two deliberate differences because their factories are or once were sub-contracted manufacturers for ETA, not unlike the way AMD acquired the rights to the x86 CPU instruction set as they were once a licenced manufacturer of Intel processors.
  24. I was actually thinking one of Neil's TT Omega DeVilles.... (if he gets more in...)
  25. Proof that it isn't the subject of the forum, but the people who inhabit it, that make a place worth visiting. All the good people are now here.
