  1. If you are looking for what I think you are looking for, what you actually need are two parts - a tiny little barrel with points at either end that sits in a hole under the bezel, and the spring that sits under the barrell and hold it up against the bezel clicks, and you are not going to believe this but my missus found one of the very parts that I lost (and thus condemned that watch case) on Saturday, nestling in the pile of our bedroom carpet, 6 months after it disappeared. I don't unfortunately have the spring as I sent it to rmcsherry, but my guess is that the spring will be the easier of the two parts to either source or fabricate! I think I still have your addy...
  2. You are kidding, aren't you? The sub is shown with a sticker on the back, so either the caseback has been replaced or it is a new watch. The rest of the watch says vintage to me, yet there are no marks or scratches, so what's going on? Maybe it has been refinished and the sticker put there to protect it, and I'm just too cynical....?!
  3. Yep, you can clean it, but you'll never be finished cleaning it. I've learned to live with it on my Breitling, but unless I carry a can of Isoclene and a lint free cloth with me all the time......
  4. In other words, fugly (as eddhead said...)
  5. Correct. It's something that pops up occasionally on Special Editions and on the latest SMPs, and I don't know why they bother because it looks like it was carved with a nail. @Riverwind - AR coating takes on a nice, rainbow smear colour with the slightest touch of a fingerprint, and dust seems to stick to it. Not an issue when it is sealed into the inside of the watch case, but annoying on the outside face - so much so that owners of even gen watches with it are polishing it off (usually before it decides to wear off itself...)
  6. I thought you'd forgotten about that! I'll email you.....
  7. Oi! Stop posting pictures of MY watch!! (Only because your pics show up my crappy photography... )
  8. TBH if the double sided AR coating isn't up to par I'd rather they didn't bother. It'll just look smeary! Owners of the gens don't even like it!! Rarely does a rep improve on the gen, but this is one instance where the 'ultimate' beats the real thing IMO. Less is more!
  9. OK. Easy spots on the no-date Sub are the end links and the sticker with TRL on the back but no hologram (which a new watch would have...) There are a pile of other things wrong, but they are the most obvious killers. Subdials on Omega are the wrong colour and the bezel ring is rubbish. Looks like a fantasy model.
  10. Well, if the CR SE caseback doesn't fit the ultimate then that is a serious step backwards as the ultimate caseback fits the gen, (don't ask how I know. Incidentally, the gen caseback don't fit the ultimate.......!!)
  11. Me neither, but at least all the petitioning for the rubber strap seems to have had a result....
  12. Oooh - the irony of this appearing. The timing couldn't have been better...
  13. You are missing the point, guys. We might not be happy about their pricing or marketing strategy, but the only lie is the fake tourbillon being misleadingly represented as having the benefits of a real one. That is where they overstep the boundary from taking in clueless numpties to criminality...
  14. Not a wrist shot, but will this pic of mine do?!
  15. Slightly OT, but I still rue the day Silix ran out of stock of the CG'less reps....
  16. I've always loved the El Primero movement, and now others in here will know to admire it, thanks to another immortalisation by the Zigmeister. Any watch with an El Primero is a thing of beauty. I've said it before and I'll say it again...
  17. Strangely enough, I bought two Planet Oceans in 2006, plus received a third because one of the two was an incorrect combination of strap and case and therefor wouldn't fit together. All three had crooked 6 markers. I found it much easier to just straighten them......
  18. Haven't seen him back since. Don't change your heart......
  19. Might be in hand. Watch this space! @cornerstone - the irony of it!!
  20. This is me hoping against hope! My 'ultimate' PO from River is a stunner of a watch, but as I reported elsewhere the pearl looks like it took a pasting when being inserted into the bezel insert. It is sloping up out the insert from right to left and the little glass cover over the lume is cracked. I've tried to push it flush but it won't budge, plus it looks too damaged anyway. Its a minor niggle, and I'm really just being impatient here, but does anyone have a replacement insert or pearl or can point me to one. Anyone replaced their orange for a black or vice versa? 45mm chrono insert would be fine too! This is a bit of a pisser as it is supposed to be one of the strongest aspects of these watches! Usual routes already tried - River says his supplier won't pass him spares any more. Josh the same. Andrew/Trusty has been very helpful but says not stocks of 45mm bezels - only 42's at the moment. Ebay ones are cack. I've even looked for gens.
  21. I love it everytime an El Primero Daytona thread pops up. It gives Ubi an excuse to post up the build pics of his utterly stunning pieces....
