  1. MY = Michael Young. Well respected in the gen scene for his work on repairing bracelets. He also produces highly quality T19 crystals: http://www.classicwatchrepair.com/english/shop/rolex-5513-submariner-replacement-domed-crystal Sometimes you can pick up a used T19 service crystal from chronic-shop at a reasonable price: https://www.chrono-shop.net/en/plexis-sapphires-crystals/736-rolex-preowned-submariner-5512-5513-5514-5517-watches-service-crystal-tropic-19-factory-domed-.html
  2. Usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to UK. Add another week to Germany. I would definitely recommend triangle shipping to Germany i.e. via the UK.
  3. Couldn’t disagree with you more.
  4. Thanks, would love to hear about it! I remember hearing about those inserts, very rare indeed. So I‘m guessing it’s a gen-spec build. Congrats on a beautiful watch!
  5. Very nice indeed! Where did you pick up that insert? Mine says Hi too.
  6. Diamond file would be my preference, taking it slow and referring to a gen: http://www.metersfirst.com/watches/1967-rolex-submariner-5513-meters-first-unpolished
  7. There are no guarantees. Ask before you buy if the inserts are snap-in or glued.
  8. A gen insert would snap into a gen bezel, at least when factory fresh. With reps the tolerances vary. Some inserts need to be glued some don’t, some need the edges and base sanded before they even fit.
  9. I reported it too before posting, as well as sending the seller a message. Unfortunately the watch is still up. Hopefully potential buyers will be savvy enough not to pull the trigger.
  10. Thanks buddy! It's just a hobby for me, once in a while I may sell one of my builds. However, if the Missus catches me messin' with watches too often, this tends to happen...
  11. I hope nobody buys this $59k dodgy 5517 on eBay. Wrong dial, meters first rather than feet. Insert with too many minute markers and wrong font for the numerals. Hour hand looks suspect. Probably other things too but the poor photography makes it difficult to see. https://m.ebay.com/itm/272869594865 Needless to say reported.
  12. I haven't had a problem with the WSO bezel assembly in the past. If you don't go for gen, I would go for a Yuki insert and either a Yuki or Athaya pearl. Yuki's is way overpriced but better finished, the Athaya pearl needs access plastic trimmed, it's just as good as Yuki's when done. While you are at Athaya they have decent 700 crowns too. Part links below: WSO bezel assembly: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BEZEL-INSERT-SPRING-RETAINING-OLD-ROLEX-SUBMARINER-5513-1680-S-STEEL-BLACK-/160658405953?hash=item2567fcba41 Yuki insert: http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/9020785/10270361.htm Athaya pearl: http://parts.athayavintage.com/product/aftermarket-rolex-pearl-dot-pips/ Athaya 700 crown and tube: http://parts.athayavintage.com/product/aftermarket-700-crown-and-tube/ Here’s a shot of the WSO bezel assembly on my 5517 with a T19 service crystal: And the Yuki insert on my MBW 5513, also with WSO 580 endlinks and gen-spec 2mm springbars. Helenarou dial with re-worked lume, ETA 2846 movement with mixed handset (Clark & Rafflestime):
  13. Unfortunately, the triangle marker at 12 is too stubby/wide on the Yuki meters first dial. It will bug you when you start comparing it to a gen. You may prefer to go for a MQ dial instead. More expensive, but closer to a gen. http://vintagewatchesmq.com/minhquy/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=1093&category_id=146&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1
  14. No worries, lots of great info on the forum. Yeap, the retaining ring holds the crystal on the case. The bezel itself clips onto the retaining ring. Here’s a shot of the midcase and then the crystal and retaining ring in place.
  15. It's not difficult to replace the crystal, you're half way there. If you were intending to the mod the watch you may as well keep it. Trust me on this – the Cartel does need modding to get anywhere close to the original. You can pick them up from here: http://www.pf-818.com/watches/rolex/submariner/vintages/0-0-0-0rlsv01006-vintage-5513-no-date-submariner-asia-eta-2836.html?___SID=U
  16. Personally I’d go for an Ofrei PA 462 66 crystal. It’s a very similar look to a T19 service crystal. Don’t go for a Clark T19, there’s too much rehaut distortion. You can read about my v.2 build in the link below which may help. https://rwg.cc/topic/181702-modded-cartel-5513-v2/
