Basically the authorities are closing in really fast. Support monies are being pumped in by the genuine manufacturers. Internationally, customs agents are being directed towards greater detection at country of import. (Have you noticed increasing reports of seizures and hot spots dotted around the world in places where customs agents are being more dilligent)?
The powers that be are vitally aware of places like this as well as dealer web sites (via places like this). Hublot lead the way in cracking down on fake dealers....we know this don't we? Hublot are actively canvassing for support from the likes of Rolex, Omega etc. as well as other non watch high end manufacturers.
Next thing will be private prosecution of rep buyers.....a little way off but inevitable.
Our hobby is illegal....isn't it?
One of Hitler's balls may be seen in The Albert Hall, must be true my grandad told me.
Dogs are not allowed in Iceland, come to think of it they are not allowed in Tesco or Waitrose either!
RWG is my first point of reference before buying yet another watch. This is the place for unbiased and friendly opinion. It's heaven for noobs, there's always someone around to point them in the right direction and give a helping hand. The photography here is fantastic. There's a diverse mix of people and they are mostly genuine wanting to give real help to those who are undecided or about to make a mistake. I'm here most days.
I'll quote from my original post so:
They are fun to read and in the main well put together
Is that appreciation or not?
Thanks Victoria for spotting the inverted commas on 'official', you are quite correct, this wasn't a dig just a way of presenting my opinion.
I'll leave it at that and will add that the response from Pix was nicely rounded.
Note the 'official'.......put in this way as to not mislead, I know there are no official reviewers, just 'self-apponited' ones.
If you read my post in full I acknowledge the 'official' reviewers.
You still haven't answered my question.....why did you find my comment surprising?
Still, yet again I am personally unsurprised that you failed to answer.
I've never trusted reviews. I don't need them. They are fun to read and in the main well put together. The acid test for me is feedback from regular people on the forums. Once I have gathered enough information and have learned to trust the poster of the info and feel confident enough to buy then I pull the trigger.
I am in the process of buying a watch from a new dealer for me on the back of some nice photos and details posted by a member who has gained my trust and respect. I asked about price and the supplier, he PM'd me with the details....simple as that.
Good feedback from 1 'normal' source is worth 100 'official' reviews.
The Zigmeister is right we know he is. I never hand wind an automatic......a couple of swirls gets all of mine going from a dead start, Asian or ETA both the same. Sometimes a day's wear fully charges othertimes not but as I aternate watches on a daily basis this isn't a problem.
I forgot how comfortable this watch is.....been wearing it to work all week and see no reason to change over the weekend. Big soccer match for my son on Saturday...away to the league leaders and lunch on the beach on Sunday if this fine weather holds here in the South of Spain.
Here comes the spoon feed..............
