  1. Installing a gen 702 is one of the weirdest things. If you ever install one, you will know what I mean.
  2. The wrench I have is made for the 703 gen tubes. If I'm extracting a rep tube, it will be tossed out. Extracting a gen 702/700 requires a file like this because it has no splines (gen 702/700 tubes are broached smooth after installation). Either a triangular file or vice grip. I choose the file.
  3. I just use a triangular diamond file if the tube wrench I have doesn't fit. Never a problem with extraction
  4. Yes, 703 tube requires M3x.35 tap
  5. As a winner, I too will contribute a prize to next month's winner.
  6. Thank you! I never win anything so whatever you send me will be promptly framed in a shadow box.
  7. Use mink oil.
  8. 1 Atm = 10 meters Are you swimming 500m below the surface? I think you'll be ok
  9. The least you could've done was age the hands! http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=351211723804 Identical to this: http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/7617720/8066193.htm Quite amusing.
  10. Just over a year ago, I found a genuine gilt meters-first 5513 dial at a small shop in NYC for $250. Ok, it was in rough shape but not something you see everyday:
  11. Just had a glass of Yamazaki single malt by Suntory. I would say that this Japanese whiskey can stand up to most scotches out there.
  12. no...Certainly not the Superluminova hands.. Not sure about tritium... I doubt it because there is no solvent agent. But it will probably cause some discoloration. Ive tried to strip SL off gen hands before, and even acetone will not dissolve it.
  13. I nearly forgot about the Spring Drive Grand Seiko.. The GMT (SBGE001) is my favourite. Dreamy sapphire bezel. Does not get more reliable than a SD Grand Seiko:
  14. Sodium thiosulfate + copper acetate + citric acid + water Immerse until desired patina is reached Your local jewellers supply store may have ready-made thiosulfate-based patinizing solution.
  15. In no particular order, I'd say he look at the following: mf matte dial 5513 1675 GMT 16600 SeaDweller Pre-Moon Speedmaster 114060
  16. What's with all the Tudor BBs for sale recently? Seems like a disproportionate amount. Has that model lost its cache value? I know I owned one for about 5 mins and sold it right away. Just didn't feel right on my wrist. I think there are at least 4 for sale on RWI right now. Mostly blue
  17. Only 75 were made..to commemorate the handover over the operation of the canal. The US controlled it until Carter signed the treaty to sign it over to Panamanian Government. Took effect in late '99
  18. Interesting.. so to remove a link, one would have to remove two pins to get the link out.. then reuse the same pin once the bracelet is shortened? What tool is required to extract the rivet? I am picturing a needle-nose vice-grip, but that cannot be right .
  19. I've never been a huge fan of the tuna can folded bracelets as I would rather have my watches wear comfortably (with an oyster bracelet or leather). But when it comes to the 7206 for example, how are the links removed and added? I would think the answer if fairly obvious. I gather that one has to carefully pry the metal fold up and pull it apart? Then fold it back in place? If so, is it not difficult to fold it back precisely in the same position due to the "elasticity" of the metal. Is there a preferred technique for this? Also, over time, and through repetitive bracelet adjustment changes, wouldn't some of the links suffer from metal fatigue and break away? Just curious.
  20. Congrats! Looks great. Picture quality is A++. That's how watch pictures should be taken.
  21. With enough money, just about anything is possible. With a realistic budget, I say no.
  22. Wow! Nice work.
  23. Only people who live in Alaska say they'll miss New Jersey.
