  1. Definitely LMFAO. Darwin Award nominee for sure.
  2. Here's a B&S two-piece strap on my 5514:
  3. About 16 years ago I discovered that I could get "higher" quality replicas of watches rather than the canal st toys. I had a contact who lived in GZ China and he would send me emails with grainy photos of various watches. No QC's back then. You got what u got. No returns. But, even by today's standards, some of them were and still are excellent (eg V1 HBB). I have sold almost every rep I own with the exception of my Speedmaster. The first is alwAys special I guess. It originally came with a glass crystal but had it replaced about 7 years ago with an acrylic plexi. It has what appears to me to be a Lemania clone (ST19?). Despite all its flaws. I will never sell it as this is was the genesis of my watch "career". Back in the drawer it goes.
  4. Any serious watch collector should have a pre-moon in the box. It's just a classic. I'm still on the hunt for a nice (gen) '66.
  5. Was feeling too lazy to set the time this morning so grabbed the Observer:
  6. You gotta take it apart.. It's not difficult, but with a little patience, you can realign the keyless works. There's a few tutorials floating around
  7. I too have been at this long enough that I could have (and I have anyways) purchased several gens given all the tools, parts etc that I have purchased over the years. If I had to do it all over again, knowing that I know now, I would save up and buy used gen watches only. Sure you may not be able to afford a gen 5517 milsub or 666 Comex, but at least a gen 5513 sub or 16600 is within grasp for most guys that have a stable job. And if those are not within your grasp, then I think trying to carry off a vintage Paul Newman Daytona rep is a bit of a stretch and you wont be fooling anyone who knows what to look for.
  8. 5513
  9. Are you sure that's not a T39?
  10. I have a two piece strap from them. Owner is a VRF regular. Excellent quality.
  11. It'll still exceed the $800 limit!
  12. Don't get too excited. More sentimental value than anything... The first is a (surprisingly) a Samsung quartz that was given to me as a wedding gift in 1992. Came as a his/hers set: The second is a Raymond Weil that also was part of a his/hers set. Bought it in 1993 on a flight back from Paris. Litterally picked it from the on board duty-free catalogue on an impulse. Geez, what the hell was I thinking?
  13. As a fellow Canadian (and Torontonian), I feel your pain. On my next business trip, I'm making a side trip to pick up a disc grinder from a fabrication shop in Ohio. Not sure how I'll get it on carry on though
  14. Does this qualify as a watch? Wristshot:
  15. For a day to day timepiece, I would never buy it. But, I can be convinced if it had some accurate functionality such as a reliable heart rate monitor. I hate HRMs that strap around the chest like Polar, Garmin etc. I could never wear those. I can see increased adoption if sensors could accurately measure not only heart rate but electrolyte levels for athletes, blood sugar, sweat monitor, sun exposure, etc. I think simply for email alerts and twittering will have limited appeal.
  16. Here's a link to Rocco refinishing a Exp II bezel.. He is the master and is Rolex certified: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?243051-Refinishing-a-Rolex-Explorer-II-bezel-a-pictorial If I had to guess, he is using Humbrol black enamel hobby paint: http://www.hornbyamerica.com/products/21-black--2 BTW, this is my 1000th post. Where's my T-shirt?
  17. Anyone who lives in Ohio, please chime in. I will be in Ohio for business in a couple weeks. I have a choice to fly in and stay either in Columbus or Cincinnati....which pill should I take? Without being to either, my instincts say Columbus.. only because its the home of the Buckeyes. But then again, WRKP was a decent show ("As god is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly")
  18. Ok. I'll play: Gen '67 mid case/Caseback Gen cal 1520 Gen meters first matte dial Gen tritium hands Gen faded/ghost MKI insert with original trit pip Gen bezel/retaining ring Gen T19 superdome plexi Gen spring bars Gen twinlock 700 crown/tube Gen 580 endlinks Gen 93150 clasp ST oyster links (I hate bracelet stretch and the ST links are the best after market links I have ever used)
  19. When I was a blackberry user, you could not pry it out of my hands. The Bold (at the time) I felt was the best communicating device ever made. BBM, keyboard, emails, call quality... It could not be beat. For 10 years I used that system. Having shunned The iPhone for several generations, I finally took the plunge with the iPhone 4.. Only because I was a early MacBook convert first (I am and always been a big fan of Pages and Keynote) and syncing/updating on the blackberry was a horror show (remember Blackberry desktop manager? Really?). While the transition was a bit worrisome, I had no regrets and the iOS certainly makes the iPhone "feel" like a superior/premium product to any other phone in the market. Are the specs of other phones better than the iPhone 6? Maybe...probably. But for now, I will continue using the apple ecosystem because it simply works for me. Yes, the iPhone is now as expensive, if not more than a MacBook Air but I use an Air when traveling and it only has 64GB! My 6+ will have 128! Argueably, there's a lot more technology packed into the 6 plus than any MacBook, and relatively speaking, it's very good value (or so I tell myself). What would be great is if the new iPhone could drive an external monitor like a Cinema Display and run OSX. Now that would be convenient. But I do think that the "innovation" of the smartphone for apple and others is plateauing. All I'm looking for now is optical zoom, weatherproofing, sapphire screen, and that will be a device I could use for several years, not just 12 months.
  20. Congrats . Looking fwd to pics m.
  21. I have a question about the crystal size of the BB. Is it 29.5? Also, what is the shape on the underside of the crystal? Is it flat? Or is it curved? If the latter, is the inside curvature the same as the top profile?
  22. Goin hiking today:
  23. Finally got through. 128 GB in space grey. Only one I could get into the cart. Now 3-4 week wait.
