I second this totaly. Spending time, energy and money specificly in Rolex replicas is purely a hobby, not at all wanting to pass a rep for a gen. Loving the Rolex designs is very often more precise than just the brand by the way. In example, I have one single Daytona (rep) and wouldn't go for each model available, nor would I spend 10K for a gen. My obsession is the Submariner/SeaDweller line. With dates, without dates, I cannot resist and want to finish them all. Bring them as far as possible close to their "real" mothers. When I was a 25 years old kid I dreamed about a Submariner and didn't even buy a rep, probably because I would have felt ashamed to wear a copy. Today, I'm not ashamed at all to wear the reps. And guess what: almost no one I crossed these last 6 to 9 months asked me about one of my Rolex. Not even a "Hey nice watch", nada. Like if they didn't exist on my wrist But, when I was wearing a white dial Breitling on a brown leather strap, almost everyone was noticing it I bought myself a gen SeaDweller recently and will probably end with a gen Sub date and a gen Sub no date one day. This because I feel that if I had to choose between 20, 50, 100 or 200 models, these one would still be the one I love. The pleasure I have wearing my high end reps is exactly the same as wearing my gen Sea Dweller, believe it or not. Wearing the Great White or the 5513, allthough they are reps, is even better than the gen Sea Dweller some days. One of the reason is that they are close to the real deal, like an homage to the real deal, not intended to be the real deal. The other reason, even more important, is that they were build by an artist and we shared something toghether. Can you imagine how many times a box with watches went from my place to his and back to mine? Both he and I spent a lot of time putting them toghether, finding the parts, thinking about which one to do next, ... That is something I will never have the chance to share with an AD salesman nor with a Rolex watchmaker, is it? And of course, I wouldn't have the chance to share if I had the skills to do it myself neither, which is a good thing in the end. Call me stupid, but this hobby turned into a Sub/SD love affaire to a point that none of the new models available from our dealers is worth a 100$ in my eyes. I'm even pretty sure that I'm done with Explorer II and GMT II (with the exception of RepAustria's GMTII). Very few models I owned are still in my collection; Ingy, 3717, PO, 196 are the only ones that bring me close to the pleasure of wearing a Sub/SD. Cheers Stephane Posted while wearing my 5513, originaly from JustAsGood in America, Modded in Europe but abroad and fitting a pearl offered by Bazz from Australia to finally land in Brussels. Isn't this what makes our hobby so special and unique? It is not about buying watches only nor fooling anyone.

That one is truly growing on me Pix. Thanks for the great photos once again. I love the reflection. So, after a "date" week-end and a "date" monday, preparing a no date tuesday tonight.

We are all Noobs And yes your opinion is important.

Well, I already said how much I paid mine and 450$ is faire in my opinion. Now, fair isn't exactly what I looked at when wanting to buy one. Of course I hoped to get the cheapest one possible. Firstly you need to find one for sale and secondly hope it will be in the 450$ range. Thirdly, cross fingers when it arrives that it is not completely streched to death ... If Radio have a source for cheaper ones, I would love to follow his advice though
-
Can you explain ? I mean, do you have access to these for less than 450$ ?

I'll start with your second post BT: "Too bad I'm not too crazy about this ceramic version, gen or rep. I doubt I'm going to drop $400 for it". So far, I agree with you 100%. The rehaut engraving does not correspond to what I like design wise. I might go for it one day, but not today, nor tomorrow. I would like to thank you for taking the time to use your skills to create the side by side comparision photo, which should make us point the obvious differences, if any. Here are mine and I think that to correct these ones will had a serious budget to the initial 400$ 1) The crown: can't see anything else to say but it has to be changed. 2) The crown guards: must be seriously shaved or attend Weight Watchers meetings. 3) Insert: Font is way to fat, dots are not correctly placed. Simple example: 18-20 and 20-22 4) Dial: already pointed, too fat WG circles around the hour markers. 5) Dial: good point, the printing seems to be almost spot on. We need to have macros though. 6) Bezel teeth: too rounded and too fat. 7) Case: hard to tell from the photo, but it seems to "large". The shoulders are wider. Rehaut: It' hard to say again but it seem that the rep is too woky again. 9) Rehaut engraving: at the 9 o'clock it's a R on the gen and almost an O on the rep. That means that the entire rehaut engraving is not correct. 10) Swiss made: slightly to far away from the 6 o'clock marker. Ok, please do not misunderstand my post. This is probably a great rep again. We love to get new reps and most of them are very good, including this one. I am only trying to say that it is not a SUPER rep and thus the price should not be that high as if you're looking for 0.99:1 you will have to work and pay. I am also saying that before each of us literally jumps on a new release we should think it over and let our Kamikaze test them

I'm having a 1665 week-end
-
Yes, you're right. I have a GMT II from RepAustria with the correct hand stack and a modified mvt. The date changes during the night as I do use the GMT for -6 hours time zone. It happens when I sleep on mine...so not a big deal. The modified mvt works perfectly but of course this one has been modified by RepAustria with the control of his watchmaker. Not by a chinese factory worker that makes 100 mvt an hour.

Ah, OK, A new Super Rep: SGMT? Hmmm, Tribal posted it already ... No rush, no rush...this must be V 1.00001 probably. ...and Lani will tell us as he is getting one shortly .

Ah, Freddy, what can I say. I was a too young member and very fortunate one as some great people here helped me solve my Fiddy problem. I eventualy would have post it but then Flav proposed to send me a 112 for free allthough he said that the problem(s) was coming form the shipping. Well the super lume wasn't applied by the post office though. The way I felt is: "ok, very bad work, lot of money, but my pal fixed it and I have a nice Fiddy now"..."After all Flav is a good guy as he sends me a free watch". But nobody I went to, to share my point of view agreed. Everyone said "you should let it know". Still, I was (and some how still am) thinking there is enough drama on our beloved board. So I suffered in silence. And indeed, I should have post about that issue as the work is not only bad, it is horrible and not finished (pin not resolved in example). In those times, I was looking at Ziggy's multiple warnings and posts like being a little to "dramatic" Now, of course, I fully agree with him. As I often say: one needs to learn and everyday is bringing a new amount of knowledge. Let them know: don't try to f*ck me anymore, whoever you are, it will be publicly said, each time, as the community should be protected before spending 5 or 600

Lani, I like what you say here and will try to stick to it in the future. Why not start with some cute photos of what I got back from Flav and need to send to a true artist? Oh, of course, it is possible to take a nice photo too...
-
I only own one watch that you took care of Ziggy. And that watch is not only perfect visually but also runs like a charm. Better than any of my other watches, including gens. I have owned various watches from the so called "modders". My experience is that none of the watches that the "modders" sent back to me were decent. Yes, I agree with you, I have been scammed. Truly scammed. There are two exceptions though. But I cannot name the guys as I promised to stay quite about their work. Actually they do not look for work and dollars. They love to do what they do to our watches, that's it. I sincerely think it's a loss for RWG that you do not deal with the "public" anymore, but I really understand your point of view. People wanting everything right away and possibly without spending time and money to get it are just ruining the hobby. Not even mentioning those who thread crap or send ridiculously uneducated PM to offer a 100$ for a watch that you paid 350. As Joe says: 'Experts know more and more about less and less, Until eventually they know everything about nothing' One more thing: some of the mods and long term members pointed your sence of jsutice to me a while ago. And, yes, for everyone reading this: "trust Ziggy when he says Flav or RBJ" are BSh*ters. He is in no way looking to get all the business for himself as you can notice here. Kind regards, Stephane My Link to a Ziggy watch: Panerai Daylight 196: Ziggyfied, Gen 7753, Chief AR,...
