For All You Ultimate Fiddy Owners - Be Happy
Stephane replied to Watchmeister's topic in The Panerai Area
Because we are nuts -
I have a couple here from Brussels GTG aswell Now, on certain Rolies, I cannot open the case back with the sticky ball if they are closed with a die too firmly though.

Wow, that is not a mod, it's art

I wonder if it doesn't deserve a place in the top 10 of The Horror Museum

For All You Ultimate Fiddy Owners - Be Happy

Thanks for posting Kruzer. Wonderfull catch. Having said that, even my Fiddy is as close as possible to the gen here. Our hobby is so special! Some times the parts are close and some time they are just completely off. -
Too many Pams here, one more Rolex thus My Great White with a 93150 now but rep EL!

I added a genuine Omega Planet Ocean to the lineup ...

Lovely shots of a lovely watch. The PO shall remain a classic, so buying a gen is a great idea! Congrats, Cheers Stephane -
Tribal, if you don't remember, well who can I went to the Rolex Area, and started at the last page of the sub forum, page 104...(back in 2006) I had to stop at around page 93...because what I read was incredible and it would take me a month to read it all. I stopped at every topic you started and that you shared with a lot of Ubi comments among other great members What can I say if not that I am happy to have shared my MBW project with you (now sold to another great member by the way) and can't wait to start a new project with you. I saw Ubi say "Tribal, congrats on your 30th Sub" Anyway, that was a great read so far and I would like to push everyone here to go to the Rolex sub forum again and start from the first page, back in march 2006... There are tons of information and great watches to look at Cheers Stephane

I will second what as been said so far and thank Jay for his energy and dedicated time to RWG. One thing I realised about my short experience is that lately I made a review of an Omega I got from PT (Precious Time UK) and said that the transaction was nice but that the watch wasn't that perfect. I would never have said these things a while ago. The language barrier is probably the main problem in pointing exactly what is "super" and what is "not super at all" in a deal with a dealer. In example, I could have said (as some proposed) I will send it back because the crown was not working properly, but I didn't. Why? Because I didn't intend to send it back (the crowns of these Omega reps always end with screwing problems anyway). Also because what I appreciate with PT is the fact he is in UK which means zero risk for me. But, I don't feel confortable to "write in english" exactly what I didn't like about the QC of PT. Again, I already said that and know not everybody agrees, but QC will never happen for us guys as we are a fraction of the rep buyers, and it will remain like that. I'll try to work on a "template" for dealers reviews with some great members here and see if it helps to make sense for the community to use it each time a rep is delivered. Cheers Stephane

Very nice pics indeed. Thanks for taking the time to share them with us. Cheers Stephane PS: I love the tools

@ Carl, Please post a new tutorial as you are right, one does not always do the proper search or not with the correct keywords. The search is cool when looking for MBW or SUB, but not always for such a detailed topic. I for one have at least a very doubtful modified vintage Rolex rep in my collection, if not two. They need to go to be fixed anyway, so if a photo of one of mines is helpful, please feel free to pick it up. Another reason to post new "old" subjects is that some of the existing tutorials might have been done by "apprentice modders" in those times. Cheers Stephane

Great aquisition Ros. Mine is from PT too. As its_urabus asked, does you rubber band pop out from between the lug when wearing it?

Ok guys, well you confirm what I have read: 1680 goes with 580s (if bended because we have reps) 1665 goes with 585s. But, what I also read, is that 585 are going for much more money than 580s I'll play around with a set of 580s and see if I can have them fit better... @Cats: sorry for the thread crapping, but you and I need loads of informations on this topic.
-
Yes, the fake 455b are very well done and fits all my vintage reps. Thanks Q, Here some more shots. Bending is an art in my opinion With my great skills, as I need to "open" them, I will probably destroy them What do you think? Should I try to open them You're right Laz, 501b are fitting better than 580 not "open" ... On top of this, shouldn't 585 EL be better? What is your experience guys? Cheers Stephane

Toad's Preview - Omega Deville Hour Vision
Stephane replied to Toadtorrent's topic in The Omega Area
Wow...just wow has already been said but what else can be said! Thank you so much for your time. A great help for the community. Cheers Stephane -
What about these differences on the two sets I got lately? The "580" are not engraved at the same place ... Difficult hobby Here under two photos with one end link of each set
-
Hi Cats, Watch out as there seem to be a lot of fake according to a friend of mine. On top of this, I recently bought 2 sets of 580s (from members here, so no doubt they are gen) and none are fitting "perfectly" my 1680s. I also got 501b and these ones seem to fit better Cheers Stephane

Back from Ziggy's Spa... Modded+ 1680 Eye Candy...
Stephane replied to seadweller3's topic in The Rolex Area
Then you're all set indeed...it misses a bunch of signs of wear but that you can do yourself -
Good thing to point it again By-Tor: mag is not, never should I say, a call out! Can I repeat what a lot of our true Rolex fans (so called experts) are saying: Rolex Service Centers are picking up what they have handy. Could be any type of date wheel or any generation of crystal, worse, a mix of them. And yes, Rolies are light Sometimes lighter than reps like solid midlink MBKs.

Looks great and has all the mods needed! Enjoy it, I'm sure you will anyway. Great to hear about the 580 endlinks. Thanks for the information! Cheers Stephane -
Agreed!!! But I couldn't send my watch to Canada ...so I still hope he will move to Paris soon... Indeed, for a steel bracelet fitting a dinosaure wrist Well, it's in the same range. So, I'll keep my rep ones just in case I need a new bracelet for a gen Rolex Here in Belgium, when you ask for a service and tell them "pls do not polish it" they look at you like if you're insane ... So, I called them back to say ok for the service (and NO for the bracelet) and the girl remembered my request "oh, yes Sir, we'll try to not polish it ..." I guess it will come back fully polished though Anyway, if I had to keep only 1 watch, it would be the 16600...so a very expensive service @Rolex seems like an investment for the next 10 years.

Some incredible watches here again. Congrats for those with nice watch boxes and for those with new ones (gen or rep). Enjoy guys. My fav sport during the week end is to avoid Rolex So, this saturday night, back to an IWC ...
