  1. I am still monitoring the timing of the Pepsi GMT, but I figured it was time I started wearing my own watch again
  2. Ahhh, that's much more reasonable Two hours really wouldn't be much good in a watch at all, but two weeks is much better
  3. Very nice, I'm sure that'll be getting a lot of wrist time I'm not a fan of NATO straps myself, but that's precisely what my Snowflake project will be going on I think for this particular watch, with its military history, the NATO straps are the only way to go
  4. If it was simply an oversized case, I would agree, but I think the Ploprof is too angular to be considered anything other than a tool watch (for tool use only). That's not to say that it's not without its merits or appeals, but I think it's going to be a very niche market for sales (and more so for actual wrist time) compared to other dive watches which have made the transition to daily wear Here's looking forward to seeing how well it's replicated
  5. Precisely, it is a tool watch, but, I think one which could only be worn whilst working as an industrial diver, not on dry land. I'd always considered the DSSD to be a similar kind of 'work only' watch, but some of the wristshots are changing my mind about that, but I'm not sure if the Ploprof could make that same transition...
  6. To be fair, it was Thogaa who found it, I just really liked the look of it If you were to find a decent strap, you could always try and source an Omega buckle for it, and that really would be a winning combination
  7. Bro, I can't vouch for this site at all, but, might something like this be what you had in mind? A total fantasy watch, I know, but I think on a dark brown Breitling-style strap with cream stitching, it would really look the business
  8. Given your other watches, I definitely think you'd notice the size of the GMT when you first put it on (it took me a while to get used to Rolex size after wearing Panerai for nearly a year...) maybe the DSSD would be the watch for you I've not been able to try one on yet, but hopefully in time
  9. It's more than I'd personally pay for a watch, and I don't like gold, but in terms of dealer, you haven't anything to worry about, you'll get good quality merch, so if you like it, go for it
  10. It just makes the anticipation all the more fun, and the final project more meaningful I would say that people like that irritate me (they certainly used to) but now I just feel sorry for them, for whatever inadequacy they have which they're trying to compensate for. I don't think they'll ever realize that by putting others down, they don't make themselves look big, they just show themselves up as being tools It's like the guy I ran into the other night who kept asking "How much?" while we were discussing watches, it just shows a lack of class...
  11. I'd vote for the Hublot. I normally really don't like them, but that one, actually looks a bit different the other HBBs, and looks pretty good As a suggestion for something else, I would suggest a Pepsi GMT... I was never 100% convinced about them from the photos, I always thought the blue and red might be a bit garish, but having been wearing one for the last few days, I can honestly say that they're magic, I finally understand why they're so popular
  12. +1 Mechanically interesting, sure, but utterly pointless to have a watch which can only run two hours at a time ...
  13. No problem I haven't actually ordered anything from them yet due to funding, but I most certainly intend to
  14. I'm interested to see how well it is replicated, but I can honestly say that this is the one watch I would never want to own.
  15. I'll never forget the photo Pugwash posted of a fogged up Seiko. I think that was a good reminder that even genuine does not guarantee perfection If you were to go down the Seiko route, and go with the option Nanuq suggested of customizing, here's a site which sells a lot of nice parts. I'm planning on using it as a source for when I get round to building a totally custom watch for my godson
  16. If you're not 100% comfortable with the procedure, it's definitely best left to a professional, I've killed a few movements trying to regulate them, before I learned what I was doing... That said, there is a real satisfaction with being able to do things like that for myself, and knowing that I've then accomplished a task
  17. Thanks, amigo, just trying to do my part to help
  18. Servicing a movement is not really a problem, as even if you can't take the watch in to a watchsmith for repairs (some will work on reps some won't, and given the law in France, I wouldn't want to risk it) but, as mentioned before, if you have the skills, you can swap out a movement in about 10 minutes (assuming all goes well ) and failing that, there are watchsmiths on the forum who can do the work as well, including a few base in the EU, so as to avoid customs issues Best of luck with you purchase
  19. It looks very good, amigo, that looks to be an awesome strap combo
  20. This makes it three in a row... Timing is at +5 now, I think I can get it a bit better than that before posting it off
  21. Looking good, but I totally know what you mean about the dial being too busy and it not being an easy watch to love
  22. I haven't seen any links for a while (at least a year) but they looked the business
  23. Looking good It might just be my eyes playing tricks on me, but looking at the actual watch dial on pg1, I would say that the depth rating text is marginally thicker than 'Superlative Chronometer', so it might still be worth adding a little more beef to the depth rating, but other than that, I'd say it's looking tip top
  24. Congratulations, best wristie indeed
