  1. That's an awesome list, thanks for the link I quite agree, it's certainly irrational, and indeed, the chances of such a traumatic death are, as you say, probably a billion to one. Thinking about it, if I was to wind up getting murdered and then butchered to avoid identification, I think whoever did it would be thorough enough to remove the tags while smashing my teeth out At least, I'd hope they'd do that, 'for the sake of the piggies digestion', to borrow a movie quote The problem with irrational compulsions and fears, is that even understanding them intellectually does little to ease them Hi Nikki, thanks for the input, bro I know the tags you mean, I've seen them on eBay while on the hunt for (yes, you've guessed it) more dog tags I did seriously consider getting one, but the thing which put me off, was the thought that if it was to be needed somewhere where they didn't actually have computer access (rare in this day and age, I know) then the tag wouldn't be able to tell them anything, so I stuck with the more 'traditional' idea, but with a slightly modern twist. I don't know if you remember a TV show called Space: Above and Beyond, but I've ordered some laser-etched tags which will be somewhat in the style of the ones worn on the show. One side will feature a barcode of my National Insurance number and a small head shot, the other side will have the traditional name, number, blood type, religion, which would be on traditional tags. I've been told that the company is out of supply at the moment, but will be able to fill the order in the new year, so I'm quite looking forward to seeing how the come out, as movie memorabilia is another of my collection hobbies. Something positive to come of this, is I saw several really nice Russian (and other country) dog tags on eBay, so I might start collecting tags as well (I already have quite a few) I recon something like a stamp-collecting folder (or something similar) would look pretty good filled with various tags Well, I went to my doctor to ask if they could do a blood screening to confirm my blood group, but I was told that they only tend to do them for pregnant women That still leaves me with the other option though Thanks for the contribution, and please thank your wife for me Indeed, I actually did get lost as a child, a few times in fact, and that is one of the few things, which can actually make me panic. I have no problem all the time I'm by myself, but if I'm with a group and get seperated in some way, it still really freaks me out. Of course, I've grown out of the crying and soiling myself (I only do that now if I have way too much to drink ) But indeed, this could be a root cause, which I hadn't considered until you mentioned it, so indeed, thanks for that Indeed, I wouldn't care about it at that point, but I care about it now, that's the problem Thanks for the advice, bro Although I'd have to disagree, I think you'd be missed more than you think If I wasn't so specific about the tattoos I want, I probably would have that done Indeed I do I've see a few articles recently where police have released descriptions of John Doe's tattoos, in hopes people can identify them Having seen Casino Royale, you don't know just how tempted I was to actually get that done My only concern, was, as mentioned about the electronic tags, without the technology to read it, it wouldn't be so useful. Also, I didn't think a vet would actually do that, and it was the fear (it's always The Fear ) of sounding like a crackpot (or crackhead ) which kept me from enquiring Maybe one day though Thanks for all the responses, amigos, it is much appreciated, and has bought me some further understanding of the compulsion, which, at the end of the day, was what I was seeking As mentioned, it's not something which has a real impact on my life, so it's not what I'd consider serious, I just wanted to better understand it Thanks again
  2. Thanks for the kind words, it really means a lot I have to admit, it would be pretty cool to stream the whole thing, but I don't think she'd go for it What I will do, though, is get as many wrist-shots and other assorted photos as possible, and then post them up Thanks, bro, glad you approve I like the sound of what you had done as well I have to admit, Emily's actual wedding ring hasn't been custom made, that was a purely availability/price focussed decision, but her engagement ring was a custom build. Her wedding ring's a plain 4mm domed Titanium ring with a polished finish, which goes really nicely with the engagement ring, which is Platinum, and about 4mm across the base. Although the Titanium is darker than the Platinum, it's a subtle difference, rather than a harsh one I'd seen some Zirconia ceramic rings online which looked really nice, and when I showed them to her, she really liked them, so I ordered them in (even though it was going against my plan to have my engagement ring replicated) but when they arrived, although mine looked okay, hers looked absolutely shite on her, so they got sent back the next day, and I went back to the original plan
  3. I got mine from Tonyxkf, who has the sites Rolex2u, and Watcheden, which is also his forum name on RWI. Mine is full-sized, but, if you asked, he might be able to source a mid-size version, I know that he has other Seamasters in 'mens and ladies' sizes Best of luck with your purchase
  4. Thanks for the contribution, but I really don't have any fear of dying or what could happen afterwards (either to my body, or my soul), it is the idea of being unidentifiable after death which bugs me... It's not so much a case of being unsure of my feelings, I just wanted to know if there was actually a name for it, like postmortemincognitophobia, or some such Thanks again for the contribution though, it's much appreciated
  5. To be honest, I've found the 'old phone' ringtone hard to hear in some situations (such as walking by a busy road) and according to the hearing check apps, my hearing is fine If there's a way of boosting that louder, I'd also be interested to know

    Iphone

Glad to hear it's free of the minions of orthodoxy, I hope you'll be pleased with it
  7. Happy Christmas, M, I hope you're having a good one
  8. You're very welcome, a gorgeous watch is a gorgeous watch, regardless of the name on the dial, or the cost on the price tag, and that is indeed, a gorgeous watch Yesterday, I posted this... I think the glue came unstuck, as today, I'm wearing this Also, that's not a table cloth my wrist is resting on, but the garment I'm wearing My father in law bought me back a full set of Saudi clothes for christmas, which he bought while working in Riyadh a month ago, and that is a galabiyya
  9. Welcome indeed I'm from Sussex myself, but moved to Norfolk when I met my wife a few years ago
  10. That's an absolutely awesome watch, my friend, wear it well
  11. Awesome watch I'd definitely agree that the bezel insert is one of the highlights
  12. I was just wondering (although I suspect it's probably a fantasy model). I have to admit, as much as I like the blue bezel of the 2531.80, I think that works because of the blue dial... Maybe if the markers weren't blue as well... I don't know... I'm half and half on this one...
  13. Those photos bring back some memories I still have the Daytona which I tried strap swapping with, but it hasn't seen wrist time in over a year. I think in the end, the hands just weren't really clear enough for my preference. I'm sure the watch was well received
  14. Good to see you here, I know you're going to bring good things to the board
  15. I think this one has made a comeback Okay, it's still a big, clunky awkward watch, but there's something magic about the 127 PS That Patek looks awesome on you, bro
  16. I know that pilots are the glamorous face of air flight, but it's the air controllers who keep them flying safely. I've been told that being an ATC is the most stressful job in the world, so I have a lot of respect for them and the work they do
  17. Awesome watch, bro For the record, Tony is a known dealer on RWI, under the forum/site name of WatchEden. I've bought the majority of my watches from him, and would recommend him to anyone
  18. No problem, and I'm glad you like the strap I think an OEM buckle or deployment would make a lot of difference, to be honest, the ones fitted to aftermarket straps are often pretty cheap quality. Functional, for sure, but not really 'up to the job' with such a high-end watch
  19. That's the perfect strap choice for that watch, bro For me, just a quick and dirty pic. Same watch as before, I think it's glued on Fitting though, as the strap was a christmas present last year
  20. As in PM, no problem, amigo I'm sure we'll meet up at a GTG at some point, so you're on Well, there was just a 'certain look' to watches of that era, and that strap always stuck in my mind for that era, so I figured what better way to go, than by keeping it true to the original era
  21. I wonder if they found any papers yet
  22. Thanks, amigo The tape and autoflash don't do it any favors, but I'll try and get some decent photos taken once the additional engraving is done
  23. The Planet Ocean should look fine on your wrist. From my own experience, I'd think that, if the top lugs were in line with the knuckle of your little finger, the bottom lugs would be lining up somewhere between your middle, and index fingers, with about 1-2 cm of strap/bracelet showing from the base lugs, to where it curves round your wrist. The Planet Ocean is an awesome watch, probably one of, if not my favorite watch design. I don't think you'd regret buying one
  24. Who'm I trying to kid? I can't keep this from you guys, even in it's unfinished state Okay, please excuse the tape and marker, and try and focus on the contrast between the brushed and polished areas The original (Sterling Silver): Which made me think of (Engraved Naquadah): So realized as (Brushed Titanium): As above, once the additional lines are engraved, I'll post some really decent shots
