  1. Just a guess, but I'm wondering if that's a 127 on the OEM Bordeaux strap...
  2. Oh man, I've missed the pics... Oh well, if guns were involved, it sounds interesting Hope all's well with you, T
  3. Thanks Once I realized what the problem actually was, it was just a few turns of the screwdriver to fix Indeed, and, we all have to start somewhere This can only lead to bigger and better things
  4. I think it depends on the person, and the clothes being worn. PAMs (especially the luminors) are thick watches, so personally, I feel a thick strap is needed to balance that. For example, a Radiomir strap (26/22) will fit the lugs on a 127 ( ) but, in terms of thickness, it doesn't really look 'substantial enough' to be supporting a watch of that size. Anything of 3-4mm thickness will look about right on a Luminor. Anything thinner, can look a bit 'flimsy'. A good example, is the strap on the Ferrari PAMs. The 'lug ends' of the strap are quite thick and padded, and, as that follows most of the wrist, it looks like a decent strap. However, the 'buckle ends' of the strap, are relatively thin (maybe 1.5-2mm) and, while great to go through a deployant, a strap of that thickness would probably look a bit flimsy (as with the mentioned example of the Radiomir strap) That's the 'technical' aspect. The other, is the aesthetic (in terms of clothing) The thicker straps do tend to have a more 'casual' air to them, rather than 'formal', so that's another consideration. I certainly wouldn't wear a 5mm strap if I was wearing a suit. Rolled up sleeves and jeans, sure, but not suit and tie... With the Radiomirs, it's pretty much the reverse. Although they were originally made as military watches, nowadays, they're popular as dress watches, and, compared to the Luminors, quite a bit thinner. Thick straps can 'over power' the watch case, and look a bit funny, so thinner straps (upto maybe 4mm) are the order of the day. I admit, I do have plans to put a 5mm starp on a Radiomir, but, this is going to be a 'rugged wear watch', so I want a strap to meet that planned use I hope that's of help to you
  5. Well, jewellery based stores have a tendency to employ attractive women, so chances are she was MILF material The bimbo who I had to point out the Aquaracer to was hot (in that 'hot goth chick forced to dress conservatively' kind of way )
  6. and sometimes not even that
  7. No pic, but I'm wearing my 104 on a Toscana strap (putty colored) which is about 5mm thick, but incredibly soft and comfortable
  8. After wearing Panerai for a year, a Sub will certainly feel like a womans watch Joking asside, I recall a post from CBR which showed a 'reduced size' Sub. Does anyone know anything about where that might be available? There are also plenty of ladies who wear a Submariner, and it looks fine on them
  9. Awesome anecdote, it certainly gave me a chuckle Absolutely the right thing to do, or rather, not do Sure, his might've been a rep too, equally, it might've been the real thing, and indeed, $15k is a lot of money, but I think definitley the right move by not swapping, just in case
  10. Bro, the only tools you'd need are a pair of dish-washing rubber gloves, and a cocktail stick/tooth pick Put the gloves on, and, with gradual thumb pressure, unscrew the caseback. Remove the gloves, so you have better fine controll, and with the tooth pick, gently ease the 'needle' of the regulator over to the right by 3 'points' on the engraved scale. (I believe that would translate to speeding the movement by five minutes per mark, so 15 minutes overall) Put the gloves back on, and replace the caseback. (just make sure the o ring is properly seated before replacing the caseback) You might want to initially try moving the 'needle' a single point at a time, just to double check the results, but honestly, it's very easy to do, and doesn't require specialist tools Best of luck
  11. They sure are rewarding Baby steps, for sure, but, all building for bigger and better things Now I'm really looking forwards to my planned custom-build PAM project, and movement transplants It sure does Oh the projects I now have planned
  12. ...and the patient survived When winding my 113, I noticed that when letting go of the crown, it sounded like it was 'un-winding' a little, with the 'big wheel' slipping back (I'm not too sure of the proper part names) At first, I was looking at the 'catch' which stops the 'big wheel' reversing on itself, and wondered if the small 'beak' on it might have worn away, meaning it wasn't interacting with the wheel's teeth properly. However, on a closer inspection, I saw that the 'beak' was actually passing under the teeth, so, very carefully, I pressed down on the 'big wheel', and tightened it's screw... The movement now winds properly again, without any 'unwinding' Only a simply thing, I know, but I'm really pleased that I managed to diagnose the fault and fix it myself, without killing the movement
  13. Have you tried tweaking the 'needle' of the regulator? That might help... If not, best of luck finding a watchsmith
  14. Awesome pics I'm just wondering, is that definitely still the .45, or could it actually be the .42mm? While I can appreciate that modern forces might well favor the digital and the quartz, it's worth bearing in mind, that back in the day, Rolex were the issued watches for the forces, just as Panerai were the issued watch for the Marina Militare...
  15. That's a real shame. Given his age and eras, he must've seen some incredible changes in the world during his life. RIP, Sir.
  16. Personally, I like my women to have enough experience to know what they're doing
  17. An awesome gift, and an awesome project I'm sure your brother will love it Who knows, it might even get him started on watches too
  18. Transforming Electronic Exploration and Justified Assassination Youth
  19. Looking good What're your plans for the rest of the project?
  20. Not quite the usual wristy, but my wife took this at a costume party we went to last night (was a great time until the obligatory irritating drunk got a full head of steam going... Oh well, I'm sure someone will have eventually given them a slap after we left, when someone gets that drunk, and that irritating, it's a foregone conclusion that someone's going to lay them out )
  21. Excellent Now that, is very true Sorry, but it's just anti-Islamic propoganda spread by the media to reduce Muslims to the status of sex-hungry degenerates... There is no such reference anywhere in the Qur'an making that promise (Nor did the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, ever make such a promise) so don't worry about that Besides, virgins are the worst fucks anyway, so who'd want that for eternity?
  22. That's really good of you, but honestly, I couldn't repair the movement itself, so I'll just replace it entirely when I'm able to That said, if the remains of my movement would be of any use to you, you'd be very welcome to them It still keeps time and works, it's just a bit iffy on winding
