  1. I marvel at the inability of people who.....

negotiate a computer to find their way here,

buy a watch via online payment,

with a successfully opened bank account/ credit card etc,

fuelled by the proceeds of some form of gainfull employment,

doubtless commuted to by working the controls of a complex automobile,

    etc etc etc

yet cannot figuer out how to work a watch with a coupla buttons on it

    spooky!

    .

    LOL!

    So true, So true....

Dont take it personal joshua, just accept your role as an ignorant newb, and try to learn as much as you can so you can become enlightend!

  2. I have just received mine today from Joshua and as you say the gen has a shiny wave. I have to say that the rep is very close indeed with a good raised groove to the wave and it does shine more but would benefit from AR coating on the crystal to show it up more. I would give it 90% effect compared to the gen.

The watch itself is very close and can clearly be seen that a real one was used to copy this as it is more correct in nearly all departments such as measurements and detailing. It even has a correct internal thread on the crown and tube as per OEM.

I think I would happily walk into a dealer with this one on my wrist. The bracelet would let it down though if removed as it has screws and does not quite feel perfectly finished as per the gen.

On the whole though this is a very good, if not the best Omega rep to date.

The bezel insert was not aligned on mine but luckily it was loose so an easy fix was done by removing, turning the bezel and glueing back in. :)

    Kewl, thanx for the info!

I think I will wait and see if the come out with a Ti version...as I already have a SS SMP..

    A Ti version would be V E R Y K E W L ! ! !

  3. What about the second hand being in completely the wrong place?

Isnt there versions of the daytona with seconds at 6 and seconds at 9? both using this movement? and the seconds at 9...with the seconds at 9 being more reliable because it required less modding, but not accurate?

I could be wrong, but this was my understanding...

  4. Better? Maybe, but not significantly better because the subdial spacing will always be off. Same thing with the Speedmasters, there's no rep movement which could mimic the closer spacing.

they could just use the mod'd 7750 they use on the daytona to fix the subdial spacing...so an easy fix is available....whether this would be considerd an "improvment" or not (due to the reported unreliability of this mod'd movement) is debatable.

  5. I got mine yesterday and accidentally wore it into an AD!!!

I went by a local jewlrey store that stocks Rolex, Omega, Pam and Breitling just too look around and disovered that they now stock IWC :Jumpy: The salesman was all over me and as helpful as can be and complimented me on my 'taste in watches' more than once. I did not hang around long, had to pick up my wife anyway, but anyone who thinks this rep is not good enough yet must expect perfection.

It actually looks much better today after a good scrubbing and a polishing with Flitz and it's running +3 seconds in over 24 hours :)

I have to agree, anyone who would complain about the date font, should not be buying reps. I mean, come on really...

  6. After going for some time without buying any watches, I am finally going to be able to this week. I need some help deciding. I am scared to death of the A7750's, but both of the watches I want are just that. 186 Arktos GMT and 250 Daylight on SS.

I am either going to get these two and a 2836 029 for my wife (she loves my 2893 029)...OR a 7753 250 and the 2836 029. I am really confused, and would like some input. Input from those owning the 186, A250, and S250 is especially appreciated.

    Bryan

I had a Asian 196, worked flawlesly for the year I had it, i sold it and went for the 7753 version. If you get a 196 or 250, you will eventualy want the 7753 version, it is just that nice...so you might as well just get the 7753 version and bypass thwe asian versian, it is worth every penny.

I think the majority of the asian 7750's were daytona's...and those were modified all to hell...so I wouldnt be too worried about an asian 7750.

  7. Hi all. How durable is a PVD finish, specifically on Davidsen's PVD models? I wouldn't mind wearing a PVD watch and getting 'bright' rub marks on it, but it would really bother me if steel showed through a scratch or mark. I am particularly worried about wear on the lugs from strap changes and also wear on the CG from opening/closing lever. Thanks.

I have had my Davidson 195 for 6 months or so...

It came with a small nick in the finish where the SS showed through, very very tiny, infact I only notice it if light shines directly on it...

I have worn it alot, and gotten several scuffs on it, you can tell when you scuff it, but no steel comes through...someone compaied it to the changing of color of leather (patena /sp?) and I would agree...the scuffs just give it character.
