  1. Hi, I'm also curious about mods on the AP as I've recently bought a couple of AP ROO's and I'd be really grateful if someone could explain what the difference is between Domi's mod and Vac's mods, if any. Thanks Mark
  2. Intime is also showing it as available, just think if a dealer knows its no longer available to reflect it as such on their website. Grumble over.
  3. I guess that's one less watch to buy then. It's really annoying when dealers show something as available or in Toros case, limited availability when it isn't.
  4. Hi, I have the Noob version with the ETA, I personally like it, but please do your research on this watch, you'll find lots of people mention about IHS (Incorrect Hand Stack) on all of the Rolex GMT watches, basically this means that the hand that records the second time zone is at the very bottom of the stack of hands and at extreme the GMT hand is bent to clear the hour markers on the face. This is the real tell between rep and gen. The key with either movement is servicing, you can get bad Asian Clones and bad ETA's. If you're happy with this, then go for it, whether ETA or Asian Clone, its a nice watch, I personally would go for the ETA and budget to have it serviced.
  5. Trusty sells the strap separately, bought one for my PO, not bad quality, I also have a gen Seamaster Bullhead on a leather strap and both clasps seem to pivot around in the centre of the clasp leaving pointed end of the strap showing.
  6. Thanks for the correction.
  7. So what is the latest from Noob? v2 v2.5 v3????
  8. It could be used, more and more UK jewellers have a pre-owned section and I think Goldsmiths take the Tesco Club card point thing. BK is currently away, I've got one of his DSSD's and think its a great watch, I'd drop him a PM, he says he'll still respond while he's away and see whether he's doing the latest Noob V4 Submariner with his mods, I think its worth every penny.
  9. I'm sure this won't be to everyone's taste, but I like it.
  10. One of the biggest tells on the DSSD is the HEV on the side, the gen has a nice thick outer ring on the valve the reps look thinner. There was a recent brilliant post that compared gen and rep DSSD's, have a search for it and try and get some other pictures.
  11. I've tried with an oiler and semi-matt enamel but the finish isn't what I'm looking for, so either the oiler tip is too broad or my skill level isnt up to it.
  12. Hi All, I bought a 2011 Explorer II from Trusty a couple of months ago and despite the incorrect hand stack, I really like the watch so was a bit p'ed off when I noticed that the paint on the 4 of the 24 was chipped. Does anyone know whether the bezel is replaceable and if so where can I source one from, I may even consider a gen bezel if the BP version can take one and I can find one, any advice greatly received. Thanks
  13. Well after some umming and arrring and the potential promise of a gen bezel, I decided to go for it. I'll post some pictures when it arrives. Thanks
  14. Thanks for your response, when you the bezel, do you mean the depth and width of the engraving?
  15. Hi All, I'm considering buying one of these from one of the TDs, either Trusty or Toro. I've done a search but nothing recent comes up, does anyone know anything about the watch, I've looked at some QC pictures on Andrews site and they look ok, just wondered how the engraving on the numbers on the bezel fair against gen. Also is the hand stack correct, I know this is a big tell on the Rolex GMT's. The other thing I'm curious about is price difference, as far as I know, they're the same watch, but one TD is $30 more expensive, anyone know why? better QC process? Thanks Mark
  16. A toy and a watch!! All I ever get mine in is bubble wrap and a polystyrene box. To echo what others have said, find Andrew really good to deal with.
  17. I don't know whether the noob takes gen parts or not, but someone on here will, if it does, you could try to source a gen through otto frei (Google), or for another noob dial, try the TD's, Andrew @ Trusty or Josh @ PT. Good luck with your search.
  18. The thing to remember is this a rep, it's going to have its flaws, several wise men in this forum have said the same thing.....work out if you can live with the flaws, some you can fix, some you can't. If the flaws can't be fixed and you can't live with it, buy a gen. I think its good advice. As for straightening up the one, apart from swapping the face, I doubt it could be done. It could just be a trick of the light or the position that the shot was taken. It's still a very nice watch. Just out of interest, do you know or anyone else whether this is a noob or BP and which is the better version, having seen yours, I've got an itch.
  19. Very nice! I'm in the same boat, it's like being a kid again waiting for Christmas Day. I'm sure it'll be worth it though.
