$600 Authentic Rolex Perpetual Oyster on Ebay
Dizzy replied to piercedfreeq's topic in The Rolex Area
Hes never sold anything on ebay before.. all his feedback is as a buyer. Id stay away from this one for sure. Hes got no track record at all. Even if you bought that for $1000 then you find out you need another $1000 in parts to make it keep time... Its just as easy to find good deals from people that have lots of good feedback as a seller. No matter how good the deal seems, if you cant trust the seller 100% then stay away. Theres 2 days left, and it will go up a lot in price. A lot can happen in 2 days. -
Nice crystal height on this one!

I have an apparent gen Rolex t-21 on my daytona. Its got the rounded edges like the Sternkreutz crystal posted above by FXR. I personlly like the sharper beveled edges, but I agree that anything is better than the stock DW crystal. It was horrible, cloudy and just crumbled around the edges as i removed it. dizz

I'll have to contact him once i source all the parts I need. No gen dial for me though, thats a little out of my price range for this project. Just a nice V23 and a good redial is what i need. Yours is over the top and absolutely awesome as always!

How to make your Fiddy stand out in the crowd.
Dizzy replied to RWG Technical's topic in The Panerai Area
Absolutely awesome Rob!! It always amazes me what you guys can do on a lathe. I cant even see these parts because they are so tiny, and you are machining them and changing the diameter! Thats a beautiful watch, and I'm sure someone here would love to own it. cheers dizz -
Damnnnn thats nice Ubi!! I am really wearing my DW 6265 a lot more since i put a gen vintage rivet bracelet on it. Its such a beautiful watch but the size takes a little getting used to for me. One day soon I want to get a V23 installed and change the dial to this one in either silver or black. Right now its the paul newman style red black white ROC dial or the "Mayer dial" as its sometimes called. I want something a little more believable like this you have! Good work as always Rob! cheers Dizz

OMG I cannot believe it went for $9100

Modding my Vintage PT 1680 SR Submariner - Progress so far

Lookin good so far!! -
for my last 9315, I got a bracelet from a watchsmith with a badly broken clasp, then bought a fairly good shape clasp on ebay. it would still cost you about $400 min to part one together using all gen parts but it makes a HUGE difference to the feel of the watch on the wrist. I would only suggest doing this on a pretty hardcore franken. You know with gen dials or movements etc. no point putting a $500+ bracelet on a $200 watch. That would be silly. For a watch like the Puretime vintages, I would take their bracelet and put on a clasp from a Noobmariner. Makes a nice combination with a little vintagizing work added. dizz

There are aftermarket parts available on ebay. Looks like it might be a standard bezel spring for a 16610 Submariner. If not them i would suggest either using 2 part epoxy to secure the bezel back on or buying a new watch. You can get a very accurate rep (compared to this one) for about $100 or so. The Asian 21j Noobmariner can be bought used for about $100 and its lightyears ahead of this one for accuracy and quality. Dont spend too much to fix this one you have. If you cant fix it for $25 or $30 then i would toss it. dizz

Thats so funny, I laugh everytime I hear it BTW I wouldnt pay $488 for a Submariner unless its a Modded MBW or WM9 from BK or something. You can build a pretty good submariner for $500 if you can do the work yourself. I bet for $488 you are actually buying a watch thats $300 on another site plus "servicing and waterproofing" and whatever other bullcrap they are pushing. I built a wicked and cheap vintage submainer last week that is making a great daily beater for me right now. Puretime 1680 - $198 aftermarket t-19 (superdome) crystal - $20 Gen used Rolex 24-703 crown - $25-50 better quality MBW 93150 Clasp - maybe $50? Total $318 in parts plus my own labour to... Modded crown guards shaved bezel insert and faded and vintagized modded datewindow on dial and vintage markers and flat varnish drilled lug holes polished case and bracelet etc etc and its better than any watch you can buy from a dealer (except BK because he does most of the same mods on request) Dont buy that watch for $488. At least spend the money on a good used one from the sales section. You'll get a much better watch for less money from someone here. Im sure you can find a used WM9 for that much. Its the best "out of the box" submariner on the market by far. cheers dizz

Im trying to buy some vintage gen bracelets for my frankens but its not that easy anymore.. I got a couple 9315's and a nice 19mm rivet for my 6265 but now prices are skyrocketing in the last 3 or 4 weeks again
-
This is why I've been buying used gen bracelets and parts and building bracelets. I built a couple 9315 hybrids from gen parts, bought a gen rivet bracelet for my 6265 and Im parting together a 93150 for another watch. I like the loose puretime links, and my 1680 came with 280 ends and not 580 like i was expecting, but the clasp was very poor though and went into the parts bin. The cornet was horrible and the fliplock didnt even fit right. Seemed like it was off a different clasp and was about 1mm too short. I think my next watch will be a mashup of an MBW1665 with PT1665 movement and datewheel. Then I'll sell off the 2nd watch built from parts to recoup some costs. dizz

I dont like the way the SEL's fit.. doesnt look gen to me at all

Where did he go? What did i miss?

Very cool. Thats a good idea. Thia would be a nice combination: MBW case and bezel Gen crown and tube Clarks t-39 superdome Putetime movement and datehweel MBW dial MBW bracelet Puretime bezel insert and pearl Thats what Im going to do next time. Or one step cheaper would be to but the complete PT watch and swap out the dial for an MBW or Yuki. Dizz

I wish someone repped this clasp. It looks sooooo good!! i'd never even seen a "big logo" before a few months ago. It looks much better than the regular logo IMHO. The 19mm versions are still down around $900 but there is a big step up in price for the 20mm model... wow. Some guy on VRF posted a 1803 day-date for $6000 from the late 50's that had a beautiful rivited bracelet and "big logo" clasp. I bet that bracelet alone is worth $6k on that one. I wish I was rich and could afford stuff like this.

The datewheel on the PT vintage models is the best one i have ever seen from a replica watch. Its just the dial that needs help. The datewindow is way too small. You need to either file out the datewindow or swap in a better dial. dizz
