  1. This was just a small token of appreciation for someone who has unselfishly shared so much. Wishing you and Jennifer the brightest holiday seasons! Vlydog
  2. @ Stephane; Great strap and watch combo. It has to be my favorite rep of the year also; especially after all the special attention from Ziggy, Cousins, chieftang and HKTan.
  3. Sorry that the link did not work. Here is the item number: Item number: 220183322507
  4. You will not be disappointed with the 3717; especially if you have the modifications done.
  5. Can anyone tell from this fleabay listing if the crown up for sale is GEN? Thank you, Vlydog http://cgi.ebay.com/SS-Rolex-Submariner-Se...1QQcmdZViewItem
  6. @TWP: This is one watch I will never warm up to but I am certainly passionate about the photos that you take. Great job! Vlydog
  7. @TT: Great photos! The more pictures I take the more I appreciate the skills that go into taking a superlative photograph. @Victoria: Looks like you finally got to know GABO Beautiful strap! Cheers all
  8. Great review Pug. This could be cause for a larger watch box.
  9. Many thanks Admin. I am in a new skin and now I can bump!
  10. I just looked in the General Discussion area where I started a post. There is no bump this topic button like there used to be. I understand perfectly how it can be done other wise.
  11. @ deltatahoe: If I decide not to mod the SSD I think I will sell it. I already have the insert and the gen crown so of course these will have to go as well. My feeling on the movement service is that if Ziggy has the watch for the mods I might as well get it serviced. Every watch I have has had the works performed. I believe in quality over quantity. @ FxrAndy: IMO the lume is weak on my SSD. Thank you both for your help.

    Zeppelin!

Saw them in Landover MD in 1977. This was my first concert. I would spend $$$ to see them again.
  13. @ Victoria, Teejay, Kenberg and deltatahoe, thank you for your opinions and recommendations. Here is a bit more information that you asked for. The modification would be performed by Ziggy. I had planned on a movement service, an installation of gen crown and tube, crown guard work, re-lume and new bezel insert. Ken if you don't have a SSD already let me know. This one may disappear. Victoria, Tourby's watches have several strap options; I may need your help. More opinions, please.
  14. The facts: I received a SSD as a gift. I have not owned any Rolex REPS until now and to be perfectly honest I haven't quite warmed up to them yet. If it grows on me and I decided to keep it, I plan on sinking about $450.00 on the watch in mods. The watch was free so I am only out the costs of the mods. I also have had my eye on one of Tourby's new Pilot watches. I have one of his decorated movements already. 450us would get me the additional parts I would need to complete and assemble the Tourby Pilot. I can only afford one choice hear. A Rolex would add more diversity to my collection since I already have a fully modded 3717 but I love the look of the knurled bezel pilot from Tourby. The question remains: Should I Mod the SSD or Sell the SSD and buy the Pilot?
  15. Have a restful holiday V. Good fortune to you and your family in the coming year. Best always, Vlydog
  16. Sorry, no pics but I thought I would chime in. Mine just arrive back from Ziggy. I have a HKTan black gator pilot strap with matching stitching and brushed ss rivets. (On a deployment clasp) I LOVE it; especially with its new double AR coat just in time for winter.
  17. English Victorian era author Charles Dickens wrote this over 150 years ago but our modern day friend and sage, Ziggy, could have spoken these words himself: "My meaning simply is, that whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well; that whatever I have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself to completely; that in great aims and in small, I have always been thoroughly in earnest".
  18. I need help from the more experienced Rolex savvy forum members. I want to swap out the existing crown and tube currently residing in my new SSD and replace them with GEN parts. I saw mezzanine
  19. Congratulations V. You must be excited. I had the opportunity to spend TG with my two year old twin nieces in Seattle. It was pure delight! You will no doubt be an excellent father. Anyone who has the patience to build straps with the attention and care that you do must have the right stuff.
  20. Simple put These photos are incredible!!!
  21. I want to replace the problematic bracelet on my newly acquired SSD with a strap. I already have a black NATO but was wondering what my other options are. Does anyone have pics of there SSD on a strap other than what I have mentioned above? Thank you.
  22. Not on the wrist Not even a good picture but fresh from Ziggy a little Base Destro Love
  23. No, I am new to the Rolex market so that is why I asked. Thank you for your response yellowman. Thank you, Chieftang.
