So for the last couple weeks I've been wrapping my head around purchasing an HBB. I love the way it looks.. but I just don't know if it describes "ME" as a person (name that movie quote..) After alot of searching (or at least 20-30 minutes worth).. i still haven't been able to find any reviews of the cheaper version HBB. I'd prefer to go for the 100buck version and then if i like it.. save up for the $500(or is it 400) HBB SS... Anyone got any reviews/remarks/pics of their personal 21jewel HBB.. i know i'm being the wussy, no-money pants, guinea pig, reference relier.. but I'm dyin to know... comments, photos or money appreciated

that's beautiful... Got a recent store credit from andrew after he had read a recent post of mine expressing concern about my father's watch purchase with him.. I think i'll probably use that credit on a Planet Ocean (orange of course ;-) )

If you're worried about Drop shipping Jay at Http://www.silix-prime.com performs QC on all of his watches before he ships them. He also happens to be the cheapest around. Not sure about any of the other dealers. I've heard a lot of good things about people's Cousteaus from Andrew as well as josh. Go with your gut!

Hell yeah. That's a great price for the newer 2006 box w/papers

I'm from Atlanta. Home of gold grills, cadillac big feet cruisers, fish and grits, and baseball caps slightly tilted east... I'm glad to see the baggy pants have to go though! haha ( i guess i'm a traitor). I feel strange whenever I'm back home in ATL and i'm seen in public wearing my European ZARA suit with slim fit pants and fitted shirt......

U G L Y YOU AIN'T GOT NO ALIBI! YOU UGLY YEAH YEAH YOU UGLY! More than anything i think that what really make this watch the worst are the horrible bezel and blue red color combo on the face..

i'm trying to figure out quality at 1:25 price scale (rep/gen)

I think a better analogy might be to use a Shelby Cobra Replica versus a genuine. My old next door neighbor had an original worth over $200,000.. He also had a replica. Of course with a 40yr old $200,000 car, it's always a pleasure to have an original than a replica, for the pure fact of value appreciation. But if you ask yourself... what will give you more reliability, peace of mind and BANGGGG for your buck the Replica is what you're looking for... 3x as safe, usually more powerful and exceptionally built.... Fiero vs. Ferrari is not as valid of an argument in my opinion. But it IS just my opinion..... -ryan -
I'm sure some of this has a lot to do with my age. Being 24, and living in paris when i was 20 and 21, my circles of friends didn't run around gawking at watches as much as they gossiped about the price drop in baguettes on Rue des

p.s. Saw a guy wearing a Panerai 112 on brown leather while I was eating brunch at EXTRA VIRGIN (A restaurant in East Village NYC). Was the first and only time I've seen (what i suppose was) genuine panerai in the real world. This is my only experience seeing a watch that wasn't rolex in the U.S. I'm sure i've seen more unknowingly, but I didn't start paying attention till I moved to Europe....

I've had varied experiences in my last 4 years in Paris, France, Perugia, Italy and now Madrid, Spain. Paris is a very introverted city. People don't like to talk about other people or what kinds of things other people wear. I think most Parisians find it very.. well, impolite. It's interesting.. because although people don't like confrontation, eye contact, whispering, (things that are usually triggered by eyecandy), people can be very pretentious here. Once I saw a man in Asnieres-sur-Seine where I lived wearing a smallish Tag Link on rubber strap (Quartz i think) like it was a Solid Gold Yachtmaster with diamond encrusted bezel.. He wore his sleeves rolled in the middle of winter so that his watch could be clearly seen. I don't think anyone paid attention to him, but I noticed his effort. On the other hand in Italy... Anything goes. Cars and Fashion are what drives the Italian Psyche. I've seen quite a few rolexes (not sure if reps or not) on lots of the shop owners and realestate workers in Perugia where i lived. But they never seemed to show them off or try to let other people know what they had on their wrist. Although they always made sure that their sunglasses had the biggest most obvious Armani Eagle plastered onto the side. Or the most sparkly glitzy gucci t-shirt that one could purchase. Italy is the only place where I've seen garbage men dressed in Gucci Sunglasses with Dolce & Gabbana t-shirts (i kid you not). Perugia is a Fashionable place of but not particularly when it comes to watches. Madrid is very much a watch town. Madrile

Ask any dealer. Andrew and josh have them for about $100. Silix has them for around $80 if i'm not mistaken. Silix might not have them listed under the name "noobmariner" but if you email Jay he'll let you know definitively. www.watch-silix.com

I've got Silix's Swiss ETA2836. It's BEAUTIFUL, and the same identical watch that josh and andrew have(from the same factory), expect that i only paid $150. You save almost $100 on this watch from silix.

I have an asian7750 that ran about 20 seconds fast per day when i first got it. Now after wearing it almost every other day for the past 2 months, it has leveled out quite a bit! I timed my watches officially yesterday and the watch is now less than +/-1 second per day! amazing what a little time will do.

Just to add to the discussion... My father recently purchased the Asian Pam253 w/sapphire crystal from andrew because he liked my silix watch soo much. My father paid the advertised prices of $308. After some kind of hikkup in the order process... Andrew sends my father, saying that he was unable to source the sapphire crystal model, and "in return" was going to send my father then "new and improved updated version". My father was naively pleased, but doesn't know the diference between either watch. When I saw my father's watch for the first time, I noticed that it was exactly like mine. and that the version Andrew sent to my father was in fact the $248 updated dial version with mineral crystal... (which in my opinion is a great watch specifically for its dial)... T The point is.. Andrew substituted my father's watch for a lesser price one and didn't refund my father the difference in price. Seeing the wording in his email to my (unknowledgeable)father is horrible also. Making my father believe that the change was an upgrade, when in fact, price-wise, it was a downgrade model... I've told my father this, but he doesn't seem to care. As for me... if someone robs $60 from me.. i'd be pretty mad..

on that note.. i'm out

I would do that if: A: I were a woman B: If I had more free time C: If i didn't have to take public transportation everywhere. (it would get annoying hauling around clothes all day on the metro) I do that everyother day when i workout or run.. but that's about it

True. I didn't mean to make it sound like they were manipulating the entire market... I know that's not true. I just was saying that monopolies are never good.

is my yachtmaster wokky? :

true. General is where it belongs

I agree with you.. but i think the question at hand was a bit more broad that like or hate. What most are talking about, is the well being and protection of all members like us that are subject to the dealers. I have no personal problems with josh or andrew, but if they are monopolizing and fixing prices.. that's a very bad and dangerous thing not just for us, but for the watch industry. I'm not informed enough to say i support or don't support josh and andrew, but i'm definitely not in support of CARTELs

In regards to Pams, i feel similar. My first pam and only pam has been a PAM253 Luminor Flyback Regatta.. Granted, i know it's not the most accurate of the panerais, it's definitely a favorite of mine. But for some reason, I can't seem to draw myself to by another Pam. I love mine, but i feel like another pam would be too plain.. and too similar. I love the 111h, but don't think that it reflects anything more special than any other pam. Before i bought my Pam, i thought i was a panerai person for life... Now i know i'm just a "hit it and quit it" kinda guy (only in regards to watches )

use the search feature in the future. Don't waste your first post on something so easily searchable. Having said that.. I will spoon feed you my answer..... try Silix (Jay). He's my collector of choice and I purchased a yachtmaster swiss rolesium from him about 2 months ago. His yachtmaster comes frome the same factory as josh and andrew. http://www.silix-prime.com p.s. you'll also find the silix is always cheaper than andrew and josh... pps. Welcome to the board!
